DLA wait times August 2022

I made a claim for DLA 5th August so thought id start this for others who have made a claim same time!!!
My little boy has kabuki syndrome, severe hypotonia, feeding difficulties and sleep difficulties. Very anxious waiting a decision!!!!

@Weez88 ive judt recieved my decision from dla. My son is entitled to higher rate care. Will UC backdate the payment from the same date?

@Gemma96x since yesterday but i rang this morning and the lady said she was sending an email over to the decision maker, 35 mins after that i received a text to say he was awarded! X

That's great did u send any evidence in at all I'm still waiting been with dm since Monday xx

Hi love, I think so, they sent me a random letter yesterday to say The decision maker has reviewed the reasons for the delay in notifiying us of the change. (14 weeks!!) On this occasion it has been decided that special circumstances apply and your Universal Credit will be adjusted for the higher rate disabled child element from 16/07/2022. So this sounds like I am getting a backdated payment from them 🤷🏼‍♀️ I much prefer when you get to speak to a human and get all the facts xxx

@RunPamRun did you say the reasons was that you was waiting on the decision and only just received it? X

@Gemma96x i sent his genetic and diagnosis letter in, all the people involved in his care, his action plan from portage and his pediatrician summary too. X
Dont lose hope. I was told so many times because he is so little i probably wont be awarded

I haven't had a decision yet, trying to resist calling again 😆 will definitely be notifying UC though to make sure they update their end ASAP. I've not called to confirm we're now on the LA pathway but I'm wondering if I should 🤔 x

Hi, my sons DLA was scanned 3rd August and we got our decision 7th November if this helps anyone who has the same scan date as us.

Has anyone ever appealed against a decision?

@MissEllie2 I do! He is so young and i let people get into my head from that dla facebook group that he wouldnt be awarded. 🤣 He needs are very high but he is my son so you just deal with it dont you! so this acknowledgement that he actually requires high rate care on a daily basis is good!

@Bunnysarah I’m on the Facebook group too and it’s actually more detrimental to my anxiety than anything 🤣 I wish I never joined it!!! Of course, I completely understand an empathise with that.. you just do what you have to do for your children and don’t even question it. To have someone else confirm that you are doing extra care is massive! I get told all the time that I my I above and beyond for my boy but it’s taken me 8 years to even apply 🤣 xx

I still have around 3 weeks wait left at least as mine is the 22nd of August! I’m going to call tomorrow to see if they received my extra evidence I sent. It was signed for but want to know if it was put on the system!

Hi guys, new here.
My little girl has been diagnosed with type one diabetes (April 2022) dla received my claim in the 12tg August. I've just spoke with dla and they are currently dealing with the 9th August so hopefully next week it should be with thee decision maker. Hoping I've sent enough as the diabetic nurse just told me to Send in the letter from them explaining everything. Good luck guys!

Hi yes my sons was scanned 3rd Aug. I received a payment today and he is same as you. Have you heard anything yet?

I called yesterday and was told over the phone

Our scan date was the 5th starting to worry we haven’t been accepted..

His diagnosis letter, SALT letters, occupational therapy letter for his sensory and motor skills and his Educational physiologist report. I have been told to appeal the decision as he has been awarded the lowest rate and low rate for mobility, i don't think I gave enough evidence with reports etc. It's just alot isn't it. Have you heard anything x

Hi I sent my sons autism dsm-5 report also gave my sons appointment woth the peadatrics and gave senco contact details and been told mine was looked at then put aside so no decision been made yet so not sure if they need more info from school but the school isn't very helpful x
