Hi the Second thread ended because when it reaches a 1000 comments it will close I thought I would set this up so everyone can talk again

Its lovely hearing peoples advice. I'm not sure what more to say when I call. If it was a legal or regulatory obligation to have a decision by a certain time then Ibwould be all over it knowing what to say but as far as I can see there are no hard timescales and they will deal with it when the can. What is everyone actually saying when they call to chase it up and ask why there has been no answer. Thank you

Lifey · 10/12/2021 10:25

I am seriously considering writing a Freedom of Information request to disclose the allocation procedure…

Lifey · 10/12/2021 10:30

@LovingLanz5 good luck to you! I really hope that you get the decision you are waiting for x x

Jneill2021 · 10/12/2021 12:05

Just an update on any one on uc told them last Thursday and requested back date of the disabled element and told today payment will go in later today so just over a week xx

DeludedWench · 10/12/2021 12:37

Still waiting to be assigned a new case worker. Will be 11 weeks next Weds.

This is becoming very frustrating now 😑

LovingLanz5 · 10/12/2021 13:05

@DeludedWench
Have you asked to speak to a manager? Also it's worth emailing your local MP I did that when I was sorting my sons PIP it helped

LKKT · 10/12/2021 13:44

@Jneill2021 wow that’s so quick! I told UC over a month ago and only just received my 2 letters to say they are accepting on special grounds this morning. Dose anyone know how long you get the payment after that? X

Jneill2021 · 10/12/2021 13:58

@LKKT I've just had arguments with them they only backdated for the disability element which my daughter receives for Mrc but my son was awarded hrc so is entitled to the serverly disabled child element they have left out around £900 of backdated money so now trying to get hold of the lady that done it wrong so stressful, I would advised message them around 3 times a day that's what I did as they don't ever get back to quick usually takes them around 4 days to get back to a journal message, good luck hope yours is sorted soon xx

DeludedWench · 10/12/2021 15:31

@LovingLanz5 I asked and was told I wasn't allowed to speak with them 🤷‍♀️

LovingLanz5 · 10/12/2021 15:46

@DeludedWench
Thats made me boil, some advisors are a real jobs worth. Try again Monday you might get someone decent.

DeludedWench · 10/12/2021 17:58

@LovingLanz5 I plan on bugging them every day now 🤣

Lifey · 10/12/2021 20:47

@LovingLanz5 you are not going to believe it. So I took your advice, and this morning I had a good old moan on the phone. I phoned again at 4 and my claim was approved ! I received middle rate care which I was expecting as we don’t have a diagnosis just yet! Thank you for your advice 😁

LovingLanz5 · 10/12/2021 21:30

@Lifey
That's wonderful news, I'm over the moon for you. You have to fight let them know your not giving in. Glad you got the answer you deserve. I needed head space today so I will be calling Monday.

LovingLanz5 · 10/12/2021 21:34

@DeludedWench
I'll be right behind you bugging them aswell Grin

DeludedWench · 11/12/2021 03:58

So it will be 11 weeks Weds. We had a case worker go on leave and awaiting to be assigned a new one (which I'm hoping has been done at this point). When I asked to speak with someone personally dealing with my sons claim I was told "the case manager has been messaged, they have contacted the highest point for you, you can't speak to anyone". I was also told it is taking 9 1/2 weeks JUST to get to a case worker. But I know our claim was sitting on ones desk for at least 4 days while they were on leave.

I will be ring them Monday, midday to give them another half day to work it out (not sure if anyone works the weekend). I need POLITE tips on how to get things moving. How do I get to talk with the case worker? How to get it moving again? I'm not one to moan, but this is stressful now, especially knowing they are working on cases 2 weeks after ours. Tried saying that even when a case worker is assigned, ours may not be looked at straight away as more urgent cases may be ahead of ours? I would have thought the "special circumstances" cases would go into a whole different department so they wouldn't get lost amongst ours...

Sorry, as you can see it's affecting my sleep now as I'm trying to figure out ways to find out where we stand with these people and if I'm needing to summon the energy for a MR...

😑

Lifey · 11/12/2021 16:09

Thank you! It’s just a big sense of relief, I hope you get this feeling soon too! Definitely call on Monday and give them a piece of your mind, I remember asking to know how they ensure a fair application process and explained how i seen on a forum that some applications had been dealt with which were received later than mine @DeludedWench I would definitely suggest that you mention this when you call to! I’ve been following your progress and this is so unfair! Your application was received on 29/09 right?

DeludedWench · 11/12/2021 20:50

@Lifey yup, 29th Sept! I did mention that I knew they were working on applications up to two weeks after ours, but was fobbed off. So I may mention it again.

Auntpollyhadadolly · 12/12/2021 19:02

So we got a text this morning saying my son has been granted DLA, they say not to call and expect a letter in 2 weeks. Why dont they tell you what has been awarded HRC MRC etc of course I'm going to call to find out.
Our forms were received on the 2nd of October if this helps anyone at all.

Lifey · 12/12/2021 19:30

I wish you the best of luck! It isn’t fair how long they are taking with your application, the anticipation must be stressing you out so much 😞

DeludedWench · 12/12/2021 22:10

@Lifey it really is!

@Auntpollyhadadolly I was told if I did recieve a text, I could call to find out rates 🤷‍♀️

Princess23 · 13/12/2021 10:19

Hi can anyone tell me on uc when decision maker as awarded the backdated payment how long after is it that u receive the money please just cant seem to get any further on with them thanks

Alk19 · 13/12/2021 10:44

@Princess23 decision maker gave me my letter on the 16th November I got my payment on the 29th November was a same day payment sent to me x

DeludedWench · 13/12/2021 11:06

Nothing. Nada. No change. No decision. Same excuses.

Adamd12 · 13/12/2021 12:22

Hi, new user, I did a reconsideration application because we believe my son should be on higher rate care not middle that he’s on now. Anyway they received the form on 15th October, I decided to ring today and was told it is taking 16 weeks, has anyone else had this, or is it taking longer cos it’s not an urgent case? Just interested really

Thanks

mum42boys82 · 13/12/2021 13:20

Hi I am a new user too! This is just beyond a joke, I am making a new claim for DLA for DS and my application was received on the 8th.oct.21, last week I was told they were working on applications up to the 5th of October and to phone back on Thursday 16th Dec. and HOPEFULLY a decision MAYBE made. My son is 4 yrs and is diagnosed with ASD, sensory processing disorder , non verbal, hearing impairment and has zero danger awareness, he sleeps for 4 hours a night and because of this needs round the clock supervision. Waiting for this DLA is now consuming my life as living on basic benefits and not being able to work due to full time caring on my own for my DS is hard going, one of the hardest and most challenging things I have ever done . DLA for children should be prioritised . I have so much compassion for everyone of us in this situation . It it is really cruel to leave parents that are already going threw hardship for such a long time with the uncertainty and delaying possible other entitlements due to the rate on decision. Appeals waiting times are ridicules, I am up in Scotland and as of 22nd of Nov social security Scotland are taking in applications for children, I know that because of this and swapping over old claims to SS Scotland has put a strain on DLA as i was told that on the 3rd of Dec when I phoned with regards to my claim. The whole process is an utter joke to me at this point. I keep getting told it will be worth it when or If i get a back payment but thats not helping to put food on the table and toys under the xmas tree at present. Sorry for the rant but at this point I am totally peeved off with this waiting.
