My yogurt! Took the liquid off the top but haven't strained it, will try that next time. Tastes good but room for improvement.

Despite that had sausage, egg and tomatoes for breakfast and half a slice of bread.

Good Job @Wilma55

Straining does make a world of difference

Wilma55 · 02/02/2025 10:49

I know you said use muslin @suki1964 and I tried a sieve and fine net, but it almost all went through. What proportion of "Greek" yogurt do you get after straining and how do you clean the muslin? Does it just go in the wash?

suki1964 · 02/02/2025 12:35

I get about 2 kg from 3 litres - all depends on how long I leave it to strain . Usually I do it over night and then end up adding back a drop of whey cos its just too thick

I line a colander with the muslin

Mines that thick it rolls clean off the muslin which I then rinse through and throw in the next white wash. I scald it with boiling water when I go to use it again - takes out any soap residue.

suki1964 · 02/02/2025 12:37

This is it rolling off the cloth

Wow that is so thick! Thanks Suki. Will order some muslin. OH is a beekeeper so it will be good for straining the honey too.

Today's soup is made from Blue Prince squash which has a texture very like butternut squash. Added onion, garlic and some creamed coconut. Yum.

A friend who is on a pre diabetes course told me about an app they are encouraged to use, called Yuka. You scan food and it is given a health rating. Very interesting, especially on Hi Fi bars.

RIP to Margaret Miles-Bramwell! Hopefully her legacy will be lots of women comfortable in their own skin for a long time to come

4lbs on. Every pound I lost the week before last back on again.

We march onwards!

I saw that earlier. she was still young

I know people knock SW, I used to myself because I didn't get that pasta was allowed, but she has really helped so many people with her ideas and methods

I think the greatest one, it drumming into us, don't be hard on yourself.

Now that's a bit of a bummer @doddler, where you expecting it or did it come out of the blue?

Doddler · 03/02/2025 00:48

Totally expecting it. Well, maybe even more as I did nothing but binge last week.

Wilma55 · 03/02/2025 08:03

Good luck for the coming week @Doddler.

I agree, SW gets so much hate but it totally changed the way I eat - for the better! - I cook mostly from scratch now, loads of fruit and veg etc. It works perfectly for me as a maintenance plan sticking to it most of the time, and always works to lose if I commit 100% (which I find really hard)
It's great having a "plan" that I know I can use to get rid of holiday gains etc. I'm about a stone heavier than I'd like, but 5 years ago I lost 2 stone and it's stayed off 😊
In positive news for me I have shifted the Christmas weight gain - don't really know how much it was because I didn't weight myself for the first 2 weeks of Jan but was on plan. Weighed myself on Friday and I'm back to November weight, yay 😊

LeftyLou · 03/02/2025 11:04

Rest In Peace, Margaret.

She certainly is an inspiration to many and to think she was barely out of her teens when she started the business.

Wilma55 · 04/02/2025 11:10

WI this morning and 1 lb off, 5.5 to target.

Very busy group image therapy took ages. There were some great losses, don't think I've ever lost more than 3lb in a week.

Trying a pork in cider recipe tonight from the Bored of Lunch slow cooker book.

OP posts:
LeftyLou · 04/02/2025 12:50

Just out of interest how busy is your group usually @Wilma55. My group isn't overly busy probably between 10 and 20 people but I went to an earlier group a few weeks a go to get weighed and it took about 20 minutes queuing up to get weighed and she must have had at least 10 people in the new members corner. I didn't stay to image therapy that day but can imagine it took an age.

tealightning · 04/02/2025 13:05

Well I put on 1.5lbs this week! Disappointed as I thought I'd done fairly well aside from one takeaway where I chose tandoori salmon which I thought wouldn't have that many syns.

Wilma55 · 04/02/2025 14:22

@leftylou I should think 30+ and there are also loads more who weigh but don't stay. We have an inspirational leader who was slimmer of the year a couple of years ago, her story is/was on the app. February is a busy month!

Bad luck @tealightning hope you get your reward next week.

OP posts:
LikeThatNotThat · 04/02/2025 15:00

@tealightning that is always so frustrating but it may be that you see a lovely big loss next week. I don't think it's an exact science and weekly weigh ins don't always show us the big picture 🥰

tealightning · 04/02/2025 15:19

Thanks @Wilma55 and @LikeThatNotThat fingers crossed! It's just so difficult to keep the motivation up with a gain. But this is a new week!

Wilma55 · 04/02/2025 15:22

It's so easy to think "why bother"

OP posts:
tealightning · 04/02/2025 15:23

It is! And of course I went and finished off my son's pizza after my own dinner last night as a result. But feeling much better about it all today and hoping for a better result next Monday.

suki1964 · 04/02/2025 15:50

@tealightning , I am the exact same after a gain, blow it for a day , then back on plan

So some weeks I know Im going to gain, other weeks Id be "I've no idea where that came from" then I sit down and really think on, and then I remember this that and the other that slipped down the neck and "forgotten about", like half a box of Ferrero Roche which seems to have gone walkies, the biscuit box that is now empty..........

So we bother because we want to be slimmer, we want to feel good in our skin, so we draw a line, and start again

And don't forget its not just scale wins, its that top that fits nice, or having to go buy new undies , or catching sight of yourself and thinking - not bad

Well done on your loss @Wilma55 . My group was really busy Saturday as well, Think those who have finally finished the Christmas goodies are finally drifting in now that January is over and its getting light in the mornings now - spring is coming

TheGirlWhoLived · 05/02/2025 16:58

1.5 off this week for me, I’m looking forward to the bowl book, looks right up my street!

Wilma55 · 05/02/2025 17:22

Well done @TheGirlWhoLived.

What's the bowl book? A new recipe book?
