I'd agree. Don't be too despondent, it's not a problem, and weight can be so variable, until it's a pattern across a few weeks.

4lbs off for me on Saturday. That's my first stone! 2lbs to the CLUB10 so I'm going to be especially mindful this week.

Once I have CLUB10, I'll set a target for 7lb less and then judge how I feel once I get there!

TheGirlWhoLived · 27/01/2025 16:19

Well done @Doddler I’ve set an interim target for 3stone off, goodness knows what this first week will bring, slipped into a nandos on Saturday but tried to negate too many syns.
well done too @ChocolateTea hope you get the loss you are hoping for next week!

TheGirlWhoLived · 27/01/2025 16:20

@ListenLinda 3.5lbs off is fab! 👏🏼 I’m hoping the motivation of going to group is going to spur me through the weekend, hoping to see at least a medium loss this week as it’s my first

LikeThatNotThat · 27/01/2025 17:05

Wow, well done to everyone's losses! I'm struggling to stay on plan - I've had a few boozy nights out which ruin everything 😂 (a lot of fun, mind!) cos drink = calories and then tipsy "I don't care, I'm beautiful as I am" me falls into Snack Mode, then hungover me needs carbs and grease 🙈
That said I managed 1lb off last week. Not sure I deserved it.
As ever, back on plan today. Monday is Veg Box day and I was WFH so lunch was beautiful and full of fresh speed foods!

suki1964 · 28/01/2025 02:40

Not been able to post - or stay on plan as our electric went early hours Friday and was just restored there about 2 hours ago.

@radiantorange , I feel your pain, I really do. I was 58 when I walked into SW and my loss has to have been the slowest in the history of the world . I went in on the 22/4/23 saying I wanted a stone off for September, oh we will have that off you within a month they said - did they hell, it was August . Looking at my charts, it's been an average of just 3 measly pounds a month. I'll be honest, I rage when someone walks in and nails half a stone in a week !!! lol. Well I do and I don't, it's now a standing joke in my group. I mean I truly am happy for them, but there is a tinge of jealousy . And the weeks where Ive been making the rest of the family pies and puddings and proper chips and Ive not taken and the scales have STS - I could spit feathers

However, slow as it has been, I got to target and Im maintaining without any hardship

Trust the process and ensure that you really do understand the plan. I myself have always been a scratch cook, so 99% of my meals are syn free. I use the odd syn for a dressing or gravy or sauce. When I first started my meals were very carb heavy because that was what I was used to. Now I rarely touch bread ( I notice the wind and bloat the minute I eat it now ) and my veg ( speed ) intake has really increased, I eat veg with most meals now -even breakfast. Bacon butty is now a BLT - packed with tomatoes and lettuce

I do use my syns, Im an alike so drink them, which means I have to adapt recipes to make them syn free, and at the same time make them tasty and working for the whole family, whilst ensuring I actually eat enough. I personally find it all too easy to eat nothing and live on black coffee till around 3pm, which also isn't good for weight loss. I walk upwards of 5 miles a day and doing that on empty isn't wise So I ensure I have my greek yoghurt at hand all the time ( apart from this week cos no electric and hence the chocolate ) When I get time for breakfast, its the yoghurt with oats and fruit - LOADS of fruit - frozen berries are lush, and a banana and maybe grapes or kiwi ( not speed but a veg/fruit portion, it gets accounted for

Don't give up, keep that food diary, re read the books - two years on I still open the books now and then and realise Ive muddled things because I became complacent

TheGirlWhoLived · 28/01/2025 10:49

Still at group now - managed 7.5lbs! That puts me at 15st 13.5lb so through the stone bracket that I’m not going to see again 💃🏼

Wilma55 · 28/01/2025 10:51

Good advice @suki1964.

I had group WI this morning 1.5 off which is a good loss for me especially as had visitors at the weekend.

We had Biggest Loser award today where a lady had lost 8.5 stones! Even better that meant she gave a talk and we didn't have to do Image Therapy!

Today's soup maker special is sweet potato and chorizo 😃

OP posts:
suki1964 · 28/01/2025 11:06

Aye we have biggest loser this week as well - it won't be me :)

Ive never got slimmer of the week or anything because mine is so slow. ~Flip a fella weighed in last week - 1/2 stone off in a week , could have cheerfully murdered him lol

I was doing dry January - until the storm came - and even those three weeks were I had no alcohol and so no syns, - a pound a week still . That's when I have a sod it day, go buy crisps and sit and eat them, feel crap ( cos they upset my stomach now ) then go back on plan.

Well done on the 1.5

Im at target but am going to Poland at the end of Feb and believe me, the food there is amazing and Im already drooling at menus, so I wanted to be bottom of target before I went. Weighed the other day and it said 2lb off, but since then with no power, no proper meals, and the stress, - the biscuits, bread and anything sweet I could find has been shovelled down the neck so Im not counting on it for Saturday.

Still power now has been restored so moving forward I should be back on plan. At least I can make my yoghurt which is my breakfast and snack food and having that means its what I usually reach for rather then finding a pot of glace cherries lol. Good job I have forgotten where I hid the Nutella and it was too dark to go hunting lol

tealightning · 28/01/2025 11:07

I lost 1lb this week which I'm reasonably pleased with. I'd like to get to my target weight by my birthday in April - should be possible if I manage 1lb a week but I know it didn't always as steady as that!

Also, disaster has struck! I think my soup maker might have broken! It kept switching itself on and off last time I used it Going to try it again today and hope it's magically fixed itself.

Wilma55 · 28/01/2025 11:13

Well done @thegirlwholived, i didnt see your post when i did mine, thats a fantastic loss.

Hope the soup maker recovers @tealightning.

I only ever post once my intro post but Im still hanging on in there and making progress

Starting weight this time around 11st 2
Current weight 10st 10.5
interim Target 10st 7
target zone 10st 5- 10st 9
dream Target weight 10st 4

not long To go now til Im back in the top of target, id rather be safely in the lower half of target though as thats a danger zone for me, its my “fuck it I’m in target so Ill have another wine/cake/ takeaway” zone

Wilma55 · 29/01/2025 08:39

I'm reading Ultra Processed People which is putting me off UPF including artificial sweetners and low fat yogurts.

Hi @Yorkshiredolls My target is 10.7 too but I don't think I've ever got back to it, I'd also like to get to 10.4 to have a bit of leeway.

OP posts:
TheGirlWhoLived · 29/01/2025 11:45

Ah sorry @suki1964 i was an annoying ½ stone knobber 😄 it is frustrating though as I’ve been in the past and suddenly people are losing 4lbs a week and I only get one etc. congrats at getting to target!
I’m also doing slimming world UPF free as much as possible, I think it really works as it’s mostly whole foods that are homecooked so I’m managing to fit them in well. Looking forward to next week!

TheGirlWhoLived · 29/01/2025 11:48

Good job with 1.5lbs Wilma, particularly with visitors as I know it’s always hard with guest snacks around!

my target is 10st, I’m 5ft 1 so it sounds fairly high on the bmi but at 16st 7lbs I was at the top end of size 16, so I suspect i carry myself fairly heavily!? I’d like to be a size 10-12 so I think 10st is feasible

suki1964 · 29/01/2025 13:10

@TheGirlWhoLived Defo keeping away from the UPFs is a great help in keeping on plan, HM spag Bol - free - get a jar and you are using syns. Lasagne - a couple of syns ( flour ) for 8 portions. All the curries and Chinese meals I cook - syn free, so I don't ever feel Im on a diet

@Wilma55 , I think Ive mentioned I make my own yoghurt, you wouldn't get thicker or creamier unless you went to Greece :)

Wilma55 · 29/01/2025 14:40

Ooh I love Greek yogurt! I will have to try making some.

suki1964 · 29/01/2025 18:37

@Wilma55 , yeah we had one of those in the 70's, rather like an electric propagator

Once you have made it, strain through a muslin cloth for it to thicken

I use UHT milk and just a pot of cheap lidl FF yoghurt

Doddler · 31/01/2025 17:57

I've had a shite week. Binge, binge, binge.

I'm going to take my own advice tho and weigh in tomorrow regardless but expecting a significant gain, disappointingly.

Ah, it's a process, I suppose.

suki1964 · 31/01/2025 19:14

@Doddler , my week has been dire - no electric meant no organised meals, snacking and craving and Ill be weighing in tomorrow and deal with what the scales say

I find if I don't go, I say to myself, sure I`ll give myself a week to get back on track, only because Im hiding from a possible gain, I don't get back on track so another week passes and what gain I may have had to deal with has now grown

So no matter how bad you feel it may be, GO. Go and stay for the group. You will find out you aren't the only one wearing those shoes and that helps lift the mood and helps you getting back on track.

Ive always said that I NEED to go every week for the accountability so I possibly do harp on, I know left to my own devices a week of gain would have me looking at the bottom of the biscuit barrell . So whilst now I may do that, I know I have a weigh in next week so I find the will to pull it back

PieonaBarm · 01/02/2025 12:49

Lost 2lb this week so got my half stone award. Really pleased with myself, 8.5lb in 4 weeks! Have 4 weeks until I go away so would like to keep up the momentum if I can.

Turned up to group with my gym leggings on inside out though, it was my t shirt two weeks ago. I think I'm deffo peri! I'll be known as the woman who wears her clothes inside out now 😂

Wilma55 · 01/02/2025 15:06

Well done @PieonaBarm , how did you get on at WI @Doddler and @suki1964 ?

I've got my yogurt in the slow cooker now so will let you know what it's like.

Latest soup is leek and potato.

OP posts:
suki1964 · 01/02/2025 16:03

Ive just managed to sit down and eat, and Ive been up since 7am !!! ~I was ready to eat my left arm !!

Fantastic loss there @PieonaBarm , when you get those milestones under the belt it makes it all so worth while doesnt it?

I seemed to have found 1/2lb this week, but then I was on the lash last night and didn't get to the toilet this morning so Im not too concerned. Concerned enough that I haven't done my " who cares, I just weighed in ' Saturday and eaten whatever I fancied. I was in town and I was so tempted to go in and get a coffee/cake/toastie - anything, but I held on till I got home, got the shopping away, prepped dinner - hence just eating now - fruit and yoghurt

Made a huge pot of Dhal for tonight, Ive rice already in the fridge and I got come chicken tikka fillets from Marks cut up and chuck in and a couple of onion bhajee's so DH won't feel like he's missing out

So as I say, none too concerned with the scales, Ive 3 weeks I think before we head to Poland again, I just want to be bottom of the range for then

LeftyLou · 01/02/2025 16:06

Some really great losses this week 😊

@suki1964 your yogurt looks delicious. Have you ever made it and then put it in the freezer for frozen yogurt?

@Wilma55 leek and potato soup is one of my favourites hope you enjoy.

@PieonaBarm congrats on the half stone

This week came with an afternoon tea, a Chinese takeaway (I did choose chicken in oyster sauce with boiled rice to limit syns) and a meal out for partner's birthday and had a 1 lbs loss. Which I was over the moon with. I thought I am taking that and I am running with it.

This makes it a 9.5 lbs overall for January.

SW 15 stone 3
End of Dec 14 stone 1
End of Jan 13 stone 5.5

Does anyone find BMI goes down really slowly? 🤣

Fantastic loss @LeftyLou That's my typical kind of week, I have days where its not totally on plan, but choose as best as I can, and other days , its all about the speed , and that's me maintaining , so 3 up or 3 down but at the end of the day, this is forever so you have to eat and live in a way you can sustain. As you have seen, an iffy week, but still a loss

As for the yoghurt, yes it really is totally lush ( imo ) - think extra thick double cream, and it's not sour. It's not sweet, but not a mission can you say its sharp, more like a Skyr yoghurt. I use it for everything. Making a trifle - it can work as cream not a bother and mixing with fish - bloody beautiful pate , using it with a bit of white wine vinegar to slacken it or lemon juice - great salad dressing so you can have your coleslaw syn free, I mean you can do it with commercial greek, but that costs a fortune and Ive not found one as thick. Being so thick you can add and add flavours without it being slop

And its the cream element to a lot of soups, because its so creamy and no sharpness

I have Renphro Scales and a Garmin watch , PLUS I use the NHS calculator and that pesky BMI can change by a point with just a half pound change. However BMI isn't the be all and end all. Right now I have a great BMI, but according to my body mass scales, Im still carrying way too much fat, and my Garmin watch also says a tad too much - neither say the same but both say way to much body fat.

Im now at the stage where my weight is good, my BMI os Good, but I need to start doing more exercise to get the body fat down, but to do that I need to change my diet again and Im still not at an easy place to do that. I still need the "rules " and support from SW. ( Basically because Im an alike and use my syns to have a drink, Im not yet ready to give up the booze to allow the extra calories as food to give me the stamina to work out )
