I lost half a pound this week which I didn’t really expect so I’m pleased with that. I’m now 9.5 lbs down. I am definitely feeling a difference in my clothes, my tummy area definitely feels smaller and I am really focussed now for the next few weeks because I could get my stone award in 2 weigh ins if I really knuckle down.

I’ve planned all my meals, my food delivery is coming tomorrow, I’ve got my workouts planned and the only thing in my way is a family do on Saturday. I’m still not drinking so that helps and I’m pretty good at not being tempted by party food so I should be ok. The rest of the week I’m planning to cut the carbs down and up my protein, and keep my syns low for a really good week (hopefully 🤞)

Testarossa44 · 15/03/2024 09:38

I put on 1/2lb last week. I know why though, I are far too much of the wrong stuff, plus I wasn't writing it down, and I do so much better when I do. So I bought a SW 12 week journal at group on Monday. Its pretty much a food diary, but far better than a scrappy bit of paper, and has more space. Been a much better week this week, so hoping for a good loss on Monday.

BackWednesdays · 16/03/2024 12:25

anyone else using the app to record food intake intead of paper? I really like it as you can check syn counts v quickly

thenewaveragebear1983 · 16/03/2024 13:20

@BackWednesdays yes I use the app. I like it as well, it’s much better than it used to be. I wish it had a ‘journal’ function though, and also could carry meals over to the next day if you have the same breakfast/lunch every day

Wilma55 · 16/03/2024 14:59

@thenewaveragebear1983 sounds a bit like an SP day. I've been reading some old SW threads and lots did SP days for a boost. I just noticed today that you can alter your app to do this.

@Testarossa44 I didn't realise they still sold journals, how much are they please?

I generally use the app but wonder if physically writing things down would make me more mindful?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 16/03/2024 15:52

I bought a 12 week journal for my mum for £4.95 in group last week. Even if your leader doesn’t stock them they can order you one.

you also can find nice ones on Etsy where people sell diet diaries but they’ve been based on the plan.

@Wilma55 I am old enough to remember red and green days at SW and sometimes I do a ‘red day’! I find sp ok but it’s not high enough fat to do low carb really so it makes me ravenous after a few days.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 16/03/2024 15:55

Like this

thenewaveragebear1983 · 16/03/2024 15:58

@Wilma55 how do I switch my app to sp?

Wilma55 · 16/03/2024 16:35

@thenewaveragebear1983 click on the 3 dots next to food optimising. There is also option there to copy food which someone asked about up thread edit: this appears to be grayed out.

They are £4.95 and are 12 weeks. So good value I think. I'm just more aware if what I'm eating when I write it down.

I use the app to check syns, but find it takes ages to Input everything, far faster to write it down.

Testarossa44 · 16/03/2024 17:27

And yes, if your consultant doesn't have them in, they can order it for you.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 16/03/2024 18:21

@Wilma55 thank you!

Wilma55 · 16/03/2024 21:23

Thanks for the diary info @thenewaveragebear1983 and @Testarossa44 I might get one, I'm surprised they don't have them out on display with the books, hifi bars and magazines.

Went to a family party last night, I didn’t drink but I did eat some party food (a few wraps and pudding), but there was a good salad and other free bits too so fingers crossed not too much damage done. It’s so nice to wake up not hungover! Even though I am actually full of cold and sore throat, I actually feel ok and so much better than if I had have drunk.

writing yesterday off syns wise though as ‘flexible syns’ and my plan for the rest of the week is to keep them low, and do a few SP days (starting tomorrow)

BackWednesdays · 17/03/2024 14:12

What’s an SP day?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 17/03/2024 14:40

@BackWednesdays on sp days you gave your healthy extras and all your other food has to be either S (speed) or P (protein) - ie it’s very low carb as you can’t have free foods like potato, rice, pasta or certain fruits or veg that aren’t speed.

Wilma55 · 17/03/2024 16:34

And you only get 10 syns on an sp day

Hi everyone

I joined last week!

background, I had a gastric sleeve many years ago and lost 10st. Put 4 back on with bad habits and alcohol creeping back in! Finally got to the point where I realised I was wasting an opportunity that some people would be desperate for! I didn’t think I would ever see the inside of a SW room again but hey ho!

I’ve read the thread from the first post and got some great inspiration! First weigh in on Wednesday so fingers crossed 🤞

I have made the whole family join in and my teenage son is loving the new menus 🤣

I’ve kind of settled now that this is a lifestyle change forever and I’m never going to have the metabolism, will power, or tight stomach that will let me eat and drink whatever I want, so fellow cult members it looks like I’m here to stay!

Testarossa44 · 18/03/2024 18:59

Just half off this week, was a bit disappointed, but it's still a loss. Onward and upward

thenewaveragebear1983 · 18/03/2024 21:33

Welcome @Kidsaregrim
a loss is a loss @Testarossa44

I’ve not been feeling well the last few days, it never diminishes my appetite though unfortunately. Today as a little experiment from my sick bed I counted up my calories/protein as well as used my sw app. I think, given that I actively tried to keep calories low, most days I’m probably eating pretty much my tdee, which probably explains my snails pace weight loss. 🤔 so now not sure what to do- I like not having to weigh and count calories but realistically I do actually want to lose some weight.

Wilma55 · 19/03/2024 13:50

Am in target range and lost 1/2lb (wore heavier clothes!) Bought a 12 week planner to see if it miraculously boosts my weight loss! I'd like to get to 3 below target before cruise in 5 weeks.

@thenewaveragebear1983 hope you feel better soon. Calorie counting is a chore but most of us have a relatively small range of foods so suppose you would soon know calories for your normal choices. I'm always amazed when I see my calories used on fitbit, seldom anywhere near the 2000 the so called average female needs a day.

Good luck @Kidsaregrim and well done @Testarossa44 I am also in the half pound club.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 19/03/2024 17:32

I feel a lot better today, thank you.

re: calorie burn- I track using a Garmin fenix, which is a pretty reliable tracker, it doesn’t just measure your steps, it cross calculates between heart rate and other types of exercise and general steps so you get a pretty reliable calorie burn value (and you can’t cheat it by shaking your arm)- the last few weeks when I have been exercising more, running longer distances etc I have averaged about 2200 cals a day burned, the last 7 days where I’ve been unwell, I’ve hit around 1700-1800 a day. Which (very unscientifically) proves 2 things- 1) even sticking strictly to 1500 cals is going to be very very slow weight loss if not exercising, but also 2) exercising doesn’t really make that much difference overall (I think probably if I run, I claw the effort back by being generally less active the rest of the day 🤷‍♀️) - and 1500 calories is really not much and leaves absolutely nothing spare for a treat, a takeaway or alcohol.

very depressing really 🤣

and in that cheery note, tonight I’m going to have a bacon, Brie and cranberry wrap (the WW ones are a hexB and I’m very very excited) for my tea 😋

thenewaveragebear1983 · 21/03/2024 22:44

2.5lbs off for me this week, I’m really pleased with that.
12lbs down in total now,,2 lbs this week would get me my stone award which is also my first little target, although I do want to lose a bit more- I might wait until I’m 3lbs under target though before I reset it, and get a few freebie weeks!

I could actually get 2lbs off this week if I don’t sabotage myself. I’m feeling quite optimistic and motivated so it’s game on!
