3lb loss for me this week which I'm really pleased with, especially after a couple of weeks of disappointing losses.

@TomWambsgansSwans I'm so sorry about your family member who is unwell. Life is so unfair and hard at times.

@thenewaveragebear1983 that's so frustrating about your maintain. Well done for not letting it throw you off track! It probably is just water retention. Last week and the week before I only had a 0.5lb loss when I had been super on plan so I did a food diary and my consultant had a look at it for me. She identified that I may be underestimating syns for things when out i.e milk in teas and coffees, cheese on jackets potatoes and that was probably taking me over my syns. After making some changes I got a 3lb loss this week so she was obviously right. Would it be worth doing a food diary to double check there aren't any tweaks you could make?

@FourTeaFallOut well done on your 3lb loss!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 23/02/2024 14:05

@OverTheRainbow2023 I am usually pretty good at keeping my food diary, I even track when I go off plan and I do weigh all the hex choices etc. I may be occasionally a bit sloppy with level tbsps etc, but last week I didn’t really have any sauces or condiments so I don’t think it could be that. Although I could maybe be super careful to weigh everything this week. I agree with water retention though, I’m ovulating this week and I don’t know about anyone else but now I’m perimenopausal I get a sort of mini-pmt week, just as an extra treat 🤦‍♀️ so probably retaining water! Hopefully next week I’ll get a bit of a whoosh, I must remember to keep drinking lots.

TomWambsgansSwans · 23/02/2024 21:05

Thank you so much @OverTheRainbow2023! It has been a rough couple of weeks. I've been really trying to look after myself but I do tend to stress-eat and I'm within a stone of target so I need to not do that!

Weigh in for me tomorrow, I think I've done well, fingers crossed!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 25/02/2024 12:03

I am adjusting my halo this morning 😇, went out last night-filled up on water and protein earlier in the day, had no poppadoms and dips, had a chicken dhsnsak and rice, and shared a naan with dh, no alcohol…. And I actually felt good this morning despite only sleeping 5 hours! Walked 5.5km with the dog.

yesterday I did 32,000 steps which included a 9 mile run so I made sure to properly rehydrate myself and eat loads of protein, that definitely helped I think. I feel tired and my legs ache today but I’m not doing any strenuous exercise so should be ok.

TomWambsgansSwans · 25/02/2024 21:50

That sounds brilliant @thenewaveragebear1983 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

That's the behaviour of someone who loses weight.

I had a good weigh in yesterday, losing -2.5lb. If I lose another 2lb this week I get my 1.5 stone 'back'.

I slightly lost it afterwards as I missed a meal so I ended up eating two bags of crisps and had four cookies Blush after lunch BUT. Although it's not great (really wasn't) I would barely have noticed pre-SW that I'd eaten that. Today was better(ish):

B- a banana, coffee and a handful of dry roasted peanuts Blush
L- 2x Ryvita, cheese (hexB), salad, 1 tsp dressing, 2x tangerine
D: Pulled pork, SW roast potatoes, carrot, parsnip, leeks, melon

This week will be good I think - I have planned my meals and am planning to drink lots of water and go for my gold award!

Testarossa44 · 26/02/2024 07:20

Weigh in day for me, I'll let you know how I go later, though hoping for a loss of some kind after maintaining last week. Meeting a friend for lunch today, going to the local harvester pub, I planning on a jacket potato and lots of salad as they have a salad bar. Hoping that won't cause too many problems!

Ohforaslimmerme2024 · 26/02/2024 14:43

Back from a family holiday where cheese and potatoes were a daily staples, what with that and pan au this and that for breakfast I feel lucky to have returned with what I think is a maintain. I was as good as I could be, so I only had one pastry and a piece of fruit instead of two pastries. My family member taught me to poach an egg (I have never done it successfully) and I did that a few mornings while everyone else was tucking into more pastries.

Not not sure what happened when I was away but my awful back pain has subsided so tomorrow (as I’m too knackered from driving six hours yesterday) I’m going to start exercising gently as I felt that helped a lot too in my weight loss.

our fridge is totally empty and tomorrow when we go shopping I’m going to fill it with lots of fruit, veg and salads, I wrote a meal plan one afternoon last week and I’m going to go shopping for it. Tonight we’re having a casserole I made and froze with lots of veggies from the freezer and DH can have mash with cream in and I’ll not have the potatoes.

decided this is my week 1 and with the daffodils blooming in my garden the hiding behind large chunky knits isn’t going to hide me for much longer.

Testarossa44 · 26/02/2024 17:06

2lb off this week! Really happy with that. Lightest I've been for over a year. It's a great feeling!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 27/02/2024 06:36

@Testarossa44 well done, 2lbs is awesome!
2lbs would see me back at my pre Christmas weight, I’d love to see that again!

Wilma55 · 27/02/2024 13:07

Well done @Testarossa44.
I weighed on this morning and another measly 1/2 lb off.

Taster session today and some interesting quiches, rice salads, satay, meat balls and fruit. Also spared us from the deadly result reading for everyone!

2lbs off for me this week, I’m really pleased as I have had a couple of good weeks now but maintained last week. I’m now 10lbs total down , and down to me pre December weight, the lowest I’ve been since starting sw in September. I’ve had a little mini-blow out tonight, I just needed a bit of chocolate! I’m getting right back on it tomorrow though, I’m keeping to my plan- protein, loads of water, need to increase the speed foods and veg generally as i don’t eat enough of it at all, so my plan this week is just to have extra veg with everything!

I have a half day tomorrow and a days leave Monday and I cannot wait- I am incredibly tired, and I need some chill time.

Ralphiesaurus · 01/03/2024 06:45

Just checking in..l haven’t been vey consistent of late, since setting my new goal. But last week I got my 3.5 stone award, which I’m pleased about. Next week I can’t go to group as I have a lot of stuff going on. Only got 7lb to go to my new target but finding it difficult to get in the zone.

Does anyone else find compliments triggering? I’ve realised I’m slightly self-sabotaging, ever since seeing someone I’ve not seen in aaaaages, at group, and she was v complimentary about my weight loss. It’s like I feel guilty or I don’t deserve it or something. Really weird! I did Lighter Life years ago and had loads of success but the weight loss came too quickly for my mind to catch up, and I sort of never really believed the slim me was actually “me”, if that makes sense. And then all my old food behaviours (comfort/emotional eating) came back and I put almost all of it back on again.

Anyway, am rambling. Motivational speeches/encouragement would be most welcome!

Testarossa44 · 01/03/2024 09:52

Well done thenewaveragebear1983,
That's fabulous! I usually have a cheat meal or a treat of chocolate or similar when I get back from weigh in, I justify it by thinking I've the rest of the week to be good!

TomWambsgansSwans · 02/03/2024 17:34

Well done @thenewaveragebear1983! I didn't weigh in today Blush but I am planning a better week next...

thenewaveragebear1983 · 02/03/2024 20:45

I’ve had family over this evening for a curry feast and the whole thing was only 0.5syns! I did a beautiful chicken dhansak, a biryani with beef mince, and spicy little roast potatoes with spinach and tomatoes. All super tasty and free except for the pineapple in the biryani.

I’ve actually only had 2 syns today so not sure whether to have a solero ice lolly or whether to just call it a super low syn day? Not a problem I have to deal with often!

TomWambsgansSwans · 06/03/2024 13:48

@thenewaveragebear1983 ooh the chicken dhansak sounds lovely!

I'm your shoes I'd just call it a low syn day and pat yourself on the back!

I'm getting back onto it - I'm drinking lots of water and today have had air fryer egg bites with spinach and salami for breakfast, and houmous salad sandwiches for lunch.

Wilma55 · 06/03/2024 15:02

The curry feast sounds amazing! I've had dhansak the last couple of times I've eaten out.

1.5 off at yesterday's weigh in and back in target bubble.

Our wonderful consultant Harriet is featured on the sw app, having lost 22 stone. Do have a look it's very emotional and inspiring.

I lost 1lb this week. Had a rubbish day y/day. I've got a cold and a hacking cough that kept me awake half of Monday night. As a result I was shattered y/day and my body was craving sugar and carbs for some energy, i caved, ate far too much and right over my syns.

I slept a bit better last night, so today has been more on track, nice big salad for lunch, and still only on 10 syns.

TheNoodle · 08/03/2024 11:41

Wondering if I can join you? I joined SW on Weds and have about 2.5 stone to lose. I work shifts so am doing it online.

Ohforaslimmerme2024 · 08/03/2024 12:50

So much for making this week my week. I’ve been to Argos this morning and purchased a new set of scales just for me that can be set in stones and pounds. So I don’t have to muck around changing the settings all the time.

i’ve pretty much stayed the same, which I suppose is a good thing, but my knees hurt and I really need to sort myself out.

DH is stable, but on an unscheduled break from treatment so I’ve decided to use that time I got back wisely, which is about two hours a day, to plan food for myself and try and get some exercise.

today I’ve batch cooked some meals for me and been for a good walk.

@TheNoodle im doing it online too. I’ve enjoyed some of the exercise classes.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 08/03/2024 18:58

I didn’t go to group yesterday as dh was away so I am going tomorrow morning at 8am, I think I will have gained this week as I’m due on, and I had two almighty blow out /binge days this week which I don’t think I will get away with. My on plan days have been good, but I think those will undo my efforts. Maybe I’ll scrape a maintain as it’s an early class?

I need to get back into my good habits of planning my means and generally being a bit more ‘on it’, I feel quite flat at the moment. Tired probably, and hormonal, but I’m getting a bit bored with my food and that’s when I find I seek out synned stuff because I’m looking for something exciting to eat! So I need to get the books out, I stupidly did my shopping order without a proper menu so I’m stuck with my ‘regulars!’ But I have good supplies of staples so I should be able to rustle up a few different meals.

tonight we’re having hunters chicken with bbq sauce and cheese, I will have salad and I bought some of those steam fresh veg bags, it’s a really expensive way to buy frozen veg, but they taste really fresh and they are so easy to add to every meal so I am having one with every dinner in addition to my normal veg.

TomWambsgansSwans · 09/03/2024 19:50

-1lb off for me which I'm delighted about. Now 9st 9.5lbs, and 10.5lbs off my target.

I feel like I'm slightly battling depression this winter so it felt lovely to have a little win on the scales as I didn't even make it to weigh in last week.

I did take my DD to McDonald's at lunchtime like a massive cliche!!

But @thenewaveragebear1983's sage advice about it all going towards the next week's weigh in did steer me towards a slightly healthier option and I didn't snack afterwards or anything. Those steam fresh bags sound good, I might try them!

Frozen spinach and onion is my favourite shortcut, I throw them in whatever I'm cooking to bulk it out!x

thenewaveragebear1983 · 09/03/2024 20:36

I gained 1.5lbs, I wasn’t surprised tbh and I just need to get back on it properly now, I only have 5 days To my next weigh in.

I had pulled pork and sweet potato wedges for dinner, and a little bit of chocolate while watching gladiators.

tomorrow I am running in the morning, then will have a fairly chilled day, dh is cooking dinner but he’s doing a roast so I’m not too concerned about the syns but it will probably have to be my only syns tomorrow. Then Monday - Thursday I’m going to try sp again, I quite enjoyed it the last time I did it.

Yogachick · 10/03/2024 07:02

@Ralphiesaurus thats totally me,the minute I get a compliment or a few lb loss I self sabotage, exactly as though I don’t deserve it! I’m following this thread as I debate going back yet again. There’s some great tips on here & encouragement when up against it like normal people, so thanks all x

thenewaveragebear1983 · 10/03/2024 10:32

@Yogachick i really debated going back to group as I had done keto/low carb and calories counting in between, and really believed in them, so I felt like sw was going back on that. However, I have found that I am eating so much better since going back, proper meals, not doing ‘calorie maths’ constantly and I still apply the low carb principles and it’s working and it’s a bit more sustainable. I especially found it hard to balance my exercise and my calories and endurance running on low carb is virtually impossible.
