CountryCatLady- absolutely food obsessed. Always am when dieting, which is the unhealthy side of it.
You have to focus it on to planning-
filling your fridge with free snacks for all occasions- speed and protein, meal planning- even if you don't decide which meal which day, decide on the next 4 meals. That way you don't get caught off guard hungry and decide things in a hurry.

SW meals at Iceland are very good. Minimally processed, really nice.

AvocadoPlant · 06/01/2023 17:29

Hi, please can I join?
I’ve been a SW member for a while and lost weight, but then stuck, had enough knowledge to stop gaining, but lost the motivation to keep losing.
Even stayed the same all through December, but have lost a lb this week at weigh in, so getting the new year off to a good start.
Looking forward to sharing the journey with all of you and picking up tips along the way.

Thanks everyone ☺️DH is food shopping while I'm at SW, what are staples to add to the list?

I am bit worried about lack of cereal as a massive bowl of bran flakes keeps me regular 😂

You can have bran flakes as your healthy B option .

For me I find these helpful :
Baked beans
Chopped tomatoes tin
Carrots tin
Fry spray
Cottage cheese
Low fat yoghurt
Fruit
Frozen veg
Stock cubes

That's all I can think of at moment x

Noshowlomo · 07/01/2023 10:30

Lunch out today and have option of bean chilli and rice or an ultimate salad… prob more syns in the salad if they add all the good stuff like coleslaw!

CountryCatLady · 07/01/2023 11:11

@picklemewalnuts I have got the meal plan done for the next two weeks. Going to do the food shopping for week 1 today. I think part of my problem, is that I am either really excited about what's on the menu, or really meh about it. Excited leads to me thinking about it all the time and Meh results in me deciding last minute I'm not eating it/making that, so end up going for unhealthy options.

Hopefully my meal plan has enough healthy snacks and easy meals to keep me going for the next week...

CountryCatLady · 07/01/2023 11:14

The SW meals I have tried at Iceland, I found were expensive for what they were, and by the time I eat them a bit freezer burned... haven't tried the soups or chilli yet. Liked the sausages though.

I have been very good over the past year, and not had very many ready meals. Excluding Pizza I would say no more than 7 all year. I used to eat nothing but ready meals. Surprisingly I was about 2st lighter, but also 10 years younger 🤣

picklemewalnuts · 07/01/2023 11:27

I keep them in for when I want to do junk food for the rest of the family- pizza night or whatever. I like the spicy sausage paella or whatever it is, and the curry.

We're having hunters' chicken tonight- I won't have BBQ sauce on mine, I'll use a healthy A. With sweet potato fries.

I'm really struggling. I'm eating all the right meals, then raiding the Christmas snack department (which is heaving due to DH having ridiculous hoarding habits and lots of self control).

I really need to rediscover my sense of 'I don't eat that, that's not mine'. I've filled my trolley with muller light and fish sticks so I can eat as much as I want. I just need to choose those things instead of the sodding Christmas snacks. Pah.

Fameinaframe · 07/01/2023 12:33

Weigh day. 5 pounds off.
To say I did have a few extra syns this week! It is a good result 😁

picklemewalnuts · 07/01/2023 13:16

Oh well done, Frame! I was hoping to rock up on Wednesday with a big loss, but it's not going to happen.

Carpediem15 · 07/01/2023 14:58

Well done with the 5lbs off, I had 1.5 off this morning. We were talking about SW meals in Iceland and there is going to be the 10% off again very soon, think next week but don't quote me, but the prices are increasing, some by quite a bit. I don't buy them but keep a couple of the Aldi ones in the freezer just in case and they were just over £2.
Also talking about the tomato pasta sauces in Aldi and some have had their syns reduced to less than half of what they were. Asked if it applied to what was alread in my cupboard but told to check them with the app (no mobile so can't do that) but others are going to do it for me. I do use those as my OH likes them so any reduction is welcome.

PieonaBarm · 07/01/2023 15:08

I like the Singapore Noodles ready meal and I was gutted when they stopped doing it, but it looks like they're bringing it back. I work across the road from a Food Warehouse and it's good for when I'm on a late or get kept on late. But I agree, they've raised the prices so much on them!

Wilma55 · 07/01/2023 16:05

Hi everyone and a belated happy new year.Lovely to see so many new (and old) faces.

Got back yesterday from our Christmas and New year cruise. Weighed in at home this morning and was amazed to have only put on 3lb, will go to group next Daturday for the official verdict.

Not too many goodies to eat up, just a large tray of Ferrero Rocher which I have hidden away.

Its good to be back.

LightandAiry · 07/01/2023 17:23

Weighed in, lost 4.5lb which was the Christmas gain. It's a good job I don't weigh in again until next week as we've just finished the last of the chocolates and there's some more cheese.

Welcome back @Wilma55 not a bad gain at all. You have until next Saturday to get rid.

Well done with 5lb off @Fameinaframe & 1.5lb @Carpediem15

What did you have for lunch @Noshowlomo? Good you planned and didn't throw caution to the wind! I am going to Wetherspoons for breakfast tomorrow, avoiding the massively fattening veggie breakfast, but I am partial to a hash brown!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 07/01/2023 19:18

Wow , 5lb off in a week is brilliant! Most I've ever done is 3.5!

Noshowlomo · 07/01/2023 20:32

@LightandAiry jacket potato with cheese and salad, so delish.
I’ve gone slightly over today as my MIL made a curry with coconut milk and I couldn’t say no to it, and I ate loads, but not the worst thing to eat in the world !

PieonaBarm · 07/01/2023 21:21

I've just eaten the best part of a box of Ferrero Rocher. Oh well, it's done now. Three days to weigh in 😬

LeftyLou · 07/01/2023 22:28

Well done everyone on the good losses so far 🙂

I made the Ferrero rocher @SpongeBobJudgeyPants and oh my God so good! Thankyou for the recipe. I was going to make some for my friend for her birthday but just sat down after a busy day can't really be bothered so going to make some for her for Easter.
I will however make some for my dad's birthday next weekend I think he will get on well with them.

Hope you had a lovely holiday @Wilma55 😃 and 3 lbs gain after a cruise I'd take that any day of the week.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 08/01/2023 11:12

Glad you liked them @LeftyLou I might not have said, but i added a few apricots to mine to give a slight variation. You technically need to syn them, obs, but made it nicer IMO.

Elodie09 · 08/01/2023 19:35

Platinum SW member here , 5 years "Clean ! " My goodness, this plan was a revelation to me. I understand food and cravings so much more now and you need never be hungry on this plan. It reminds me of how people used to eat, loads of veg and limits to the amount of snacking on rubbish .
If you sort of do it it sort of works , but if you do it properly it absolutely works.
When you get to target I urge you to keep going to group though , it really helps to check in and you can help other people too. There are quite a few of us target members at the group I go to and I like to think that we can help and inspire new starters . Good luck everyone.

Thank you for that advise - I have copied and pasted to my SW folder.

Really good advice @Elodie09 thanks for sharing. We have a couple of target members at group and they always have such great tips.

Well done on this weeks losses. First WI on Tuesday, hoping for a good first week loss.

I bought a waffle machine for £11 from Aldi and did my baked oats in there, so quick and effective.

I had the king prawn linguine SW meal the other day, was very tasty. When I first did SW, the meals were only £2.50/£3. They're quite expensive now at £4.50, so will be having less of those. Usually have them on days DC are having a freezer special if I've had a long hard day at work.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 08/01/2023 23:43

I try not to use my syns for sugary things but I had 3 ferreror rochet, dear God they were SO sweet but so good! Weigh in tomorrow...
