@Blondeshavemorefun I have it with the blueberries inside it so it's like a pancake, my DH thinks it sounds horrible but it is actually nice! Sometimes I have yoghurt and cinnamon with it too.

@thenewaveragebear1983 I think there is a bit in the book about it but basically you mostly go for S and P foods in the book, but still have syns and Hexs.

Oh. So a sweet one

Hmmm maybe try that with strawberries

TomWambsgansSwans · 27/09/2023 22:07

@thenewaveragebear1983 yeah! It's worth a try. I remember from last time I did slimming world there was an image online of a woman who had made pasta with sweetener, quark and strawberries as it was free - that is a step too far for me!!

BelandtheDragon · 28/09/2023 09:58

Weigh in today and finally a loss after a couple of weeks of a gain, then a maintain. @pelagra sorry to hear about the gain. As others have said, it’s probably catch up weight which is bloody annoying. I came back after two week’s holiday with a loss and following week, two pounds on then a maintain. It can mess your head up but keep going.
I got slimmer of the week today😀. It’s only a small group and a few people are very close to target. Given how slim most of the people are at the group, you wouldn’t even think it was a slimming group.

I’m 2.5lbs off my interim target of 11 stone. My top end of healthy bmi us 10-10 but I think I will aim for 10-7. Haven’t set a target weight yet but will aim for this.
I ran my half marathon at the weekend and was so much faster than last time. Was really chuffed with myself. It probably helped with this week’s loss despite the food I ate that day. My leader said it was 12 weeks to Xmas today so really want to get to target by then. 9.5 lbs to go.
Well done to everyone on their losses. Keep going! For those that have maintained or gained, don’t press the f-it button. It really will be worth it. I started in May and am 2stone 4lbs down. It’s not been easy but I have always asked myself ‘what’s the alternative?’ when I want to stop. I still eat chocolate and stops me from feeling deprived. Look forward to it in the evenings. I also walked so much and am not doing it as much so need to do it again.

HoldingPatterns · 28/09/2023 10:07

1.4 kg for me this week, but I’ve got COVID and feel shocking so probably not quite true.

Today I’ve had
2 boiled eggs; 1 toast
grapes (from taster session)
Merchant Spicy lentil chilli 1.5 syns and half packet of brown rice 1 syn
4 squares of Lindt dark chocolate 10 syns
1 mint penguin 6.5
more grapes

I think I’ve had too many syns for today!! Going to run now and avoid any more synful food!

Rainsdropskeepfalling · 28/09/2023 20:40

It's so true about the ups and downs - I came back from holiday with a loss which was just crazy, then a couple of weeks later I put it all back on and more despite not really doing much worse. But I stuck with it (I totally relate to the f""" it button, I've got a trigger happy finger on it sometimes) and after I lost again yesterday but didn't feel like I deserved it I decided I'm going to track religiously and hand in a planner next week for accountability. And I told the leader this so now I have to!

Wilma55 · 28/09/2023 22:21

Today
B allbran, banana, milk b and a
L 2 egg omelette & b beans
D veg & paneer curry (40g paneer = hexa)
Syns oil in curry (3), 2 hifi bars (6)

Ralphiesaurus · 28/09/2023 23:04

1.5lb off tonight, making 2 st 11lb in total so far.

TomWambsgansSwans · 29/09/2023 07:19

@Rainsdropskeepfalling that sounds really constructive. I have found journaling has been really useful too, to unpick my stumbling blocks. For me, going any lower than a certain weight makes me worry because I get intimidated and thing I couldn't ever be that weight again, it's unsustainable etc - but it is still a bmi of 24 and I have been that weight in the last five years or so, so I'm not sure where the root is!

My SP day yesterday went a bit sideways but not a disaster at all:

B - banana
L - Pret salad (20 syns) with strawberries and blackberries
D - chicken, roast tomatoes and peppers

I know bananas aren't speed and obviously I was over my syns but it was a salad after all so I'm not going to die in a ditch about it!

Rainsdropskeepfalling · 29/09/2023 07:50

@TomWambsgansSwans

Dying in a ditch over a salad 😁

I've not tried SP days yet - do you still need those As and Bs?

TomWambsgansSwans · 29/09/2023 08:25

@Rainsdropskeepfalling you've just reminded me of an extra course I ate yesterday Blush for pudding last night I had raspberries with kefir (hex A). I do usually have hex As but I don't always bother with a hex B - I know it is for fibre but I eat loads of fibre in fruit and veg. Sometimes like earlier this week I'll have flaked almonds over curry as a hex B.

With SP days you do still have 15 syns, and hex A and B. The last time I did SW I remember that yoghurt wasn't recommended, even if synned, on SP days, but the guidelines seem to have changed a bit.

Blondeshavemorefun · 29/09/2023 14:18

B: 0% fat free Greek style yoghurt with blueberries

L- a massive chicken breast, homemade chicken soup with leeks and carrots, an apple
D - Asian prawns with broccoli

Drinks - tea, milky coffee (hex A), quite a bit of water, herbal teas

Weigh-in for me tomorrow... I'm also going for my silver body magic award and did 10 mins of hula hooping and a bit of a walk too!

ThreeBearsPorridge · 30/09/2023 09:46

Hi all, thinking of joining SW but out off by all the talk of syns. If I join online will I be missing out in much from the groups? If someone could explain how it works I would be grateful. HexA and B sounds like a Maths lesson!

TomWambsgansSwans · 30/09/2023 09:55

@ThreeBearsPorridge I think it really depends on what people want to get out of being a member of a slimming club, for whether they enjoy doing it online. There is a bit to learn at first because it's a framework and because in group you get a book and a bit more support, I've always lost more weight when I've been going in person. Then if I have any questions or need more encouragement there is a Facebook group and a WhatsApp to help me, which I'm not sure you get online.

You could try going to a group and get the book/have the members' talk, and if you don't fancy it after a few weeks, just weigh and not stay for the group talk (which can be a bit marmite but I do enjoy overall!). If you are find on your own and don't need the support then the group set-up is probably unnecessary, but if that is the case you kind of might as well just save the £5.95 a week and eat more healthily at home once you've worked out the basics!

TomWambsgansSwans · 30/09/2023 10:03

The set up is roughly:

  • unlimited fruit and veg
  • unlimited lean meat
  • set amounts of dairy each day (healthy extra A, or HexA)
  • set amounts of fibre each day (healthy extra B) so cereal, nuts, seeds etc
15 'syns' which are units of roughly 20 calories each, so basically 300 calories of treats (the name allegedly comes from helping 'synergise' weight loss).

I don't go in for all the substitutions of things like sweetener instead of sugar or low fat spread for butter but there is vast scope for different ways of eating. I just eat smaller amounts of the things I used to enjoy unfettered, and I have lost a stone and a half.

Lost my pound this morning to get back, just, in target range before my holiday. Yay. But it has been such hard work and I could do with another half a stone off really. Anyway am going to enjoy myself in Crete!

Yesterday was a bit of a free for all as it was dh’s birthday, but back on it today. Had yoghurt and mango for breakfast and now back from kids football, I’ve just made some pea and ham soup for lunch. I’m doing a roast tonight, but will all be on plan, I’m going to do loads of extras so I can have have leftovers for the week ahead.

useitorlose · 01/10/2023 18:23

@ThreeBearsPorridge I am an online member - I live overseas so cannot access a group. You have a different online platform to people who go to a group, as there is recognition that you need a different kind of support. You also have access to a variety of webinars across the week and you can watch the recordings if you can't join live. There's the app and podcast too, so all this helps me to feel like a member, even though I don't get in-person support. My weigh in is tomorrow, but it looks like I will get my 1st award and I joined 12 weeks ago. That's half way to my final target. It's £60 for three months and they post you the membership guide and some other books - I can't be sure exactly as I never got them, as I only have a correspondence address in the UK.

useitorlose · 02/10/2023 14:02

Update from me - lost 4lbs this week after maintaining last week, possibly helped by being sick and having a reduced appetite, unfortunately. Anyway, a loss is a loss and I got both my 1st award and my Club 10 😃
