Good luck for tomorrow @TomWambsgansSwans . Glad you had a good week. I have a 10 mile run planned for Sunday so am hoping it will help ahead of Tuesday weigh in.

I normally weigh in wearing running gear although I have been known to remove my watch as if those few grams will make a difference.
I’m getting a lot more pleasure from fitting into old clothes rather than the scales and so glad I didn’t get rid of them when my DH suggested I should!

My Friday night craziness has involved avocado in my salad along with salmon and a Freddo but that may change to two!

TomWambsgansSwans · 09/09/2023 20:49

@BelandtheDragon thanks so much - I lost 1.5lb so am now 9 st 11.5lb - target is 8 stone 13lb for me so I have 12.5lb to go!

Group was so boring this morning! I went to an early group but two women sitting next-but-one to me were literally whispering to one another the whole way through. So bloody annoying. I don't normally go to that group or I'd have shushed them but I don't know if they would have got really annoyed.

My own group is lovely but drones on and on about all sorts and always over runs! It is a good group but I do get exasperated. All that said, I am glad I went because it does help me keep on track!

Mortigua · 10/09/2023 09:10

Hello everyone , please could I join?
I went back to slimming world last week after a ten year break. I didn’t have nearly as much to lose last time and was younger so it will be a longer slog this time but I’m finding it mostly enjoyable so far …or was fine till it got to the weekend ! My issue is wine . I had managed this by saving syns and was even or would have been but been invited to a barbecue today now which will involve a bit of alcohol and also using syns on other things (though I can minimise ) I had planned on no syns at all… argh . First weigh in Tuesday and I feel I’ve already messed up.

Mumtothreeandadog · 11/09/2023 08:27

I lost 2.5lbs on my first week. Super pleased 😀 aiming for 2lbs loss this week.

PieonaBarm · 12/09/2023 10:30

Lost 2.5lb this week which I'm really pleased with, although my Long Covid kicked my ass last night and I was sick after tea (one of my many symptoms that comes with my fatigue) so that likely helped!! Nevertheless I'm taking the loss. 4lb to that stone award, and it's my birthday in 5 weeks so am hoping to have it by then!!

Well done!!! That's brilliant! Have you found it ok?

Mumtothreeandadog · 12/09/2023 15:40

PieonaBarm yes it has been OK!

TomWambsgansSwans · 12/09/2023 21:40

Hi all! I have lost 4lbs in the last three weeks (1 st 4lbs overall) but I am on my TOTM and literally can't stop eating chocolate in the last few days!

I made some almond flour pecan cookies at the weekend so hoping they will not make me put weight on but I am ravenous!

Wilma55 · 13/09/2023 18:42

Weighed in on Tuesday, 1lb off so now 5 above target.
Carrot sticks are my new best friend!

PieonaBarm · 13/09/2023 19:48

I've decided I'm having a good week this week. On plan and going for a good loss. Normally I have a relaxed day somewhere in the week, but not this week! It's getting cold and I want to wear my decent coat this year 😂

Ralphiesaurus · 15/09/2023 07:04

So after my 3.5 loss last week I gained 4lb this week?! I am sure there is something goes on with me and water retention etc that is v weird. I did stray off plan a bit, as I was dropping my daughter at uni for the first time and was v emotional on the train home. I had a big bar of chocolate (as a rule I don’t “comfort eat” any more, and I didn’t binge or anything on top). But one big bar of chocolate doesn’t equal 4lb weight gain… I also had some off plan meals, which must be where the damage was done, but nothing excessive, and I thought I’d proved from losing weight despite a half board holiday that I could make good choices! Hey ho.

Anyway, I am sticking to it carefully this week. All my waistbands are looser, despite the gain. We shall see.

TomWambsgansSwans · 15/09/2023 07:45

@Ralphiesaurus it sounds like it's a bit up-and-down for you which can be really dispririting Flowers getting your 2.5 stone shiny is massive though so use that feeling of achievement to push you through!

I have been looking into reducing ultra processed foods after reading a book about that, and I'm finding it quite helpful for me. It's stopped me comfort eating and craving and has actually been quite fun!

I've found that if it goes on fast like that it comes off fast too. I went away for a weekend and put on 5lbs and that was with good choices and no drinking - all came off the next week. Keep at it!

That's amazing

Wilma55 · 15/09/2023 15:53

Thanks @Daisyislazy but I had a shock yesterday when I put on a dress I had hung up ready for an occasion- other half couldn't do the zip up! Pass the carrots!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 15/09/2023 19:16

Hi, I’m a bit late to the party but I rejoined SW yesterday and was looking for a general chat thread!
I’d previously done SW about 8 years ago but not very successfully because if I’m being realistic I didn’t really stick to it. This time I just need something to focus on, I’ve been calorie counting so long I’ve forgotten how to eat normally and everytime I eat something off plan, I just don’t track calories that day. So needless to say, that isn’t working 🤦‍♀️

i’ve eaten loads today, porridge and fruit, lunch was Tuna and sweet chilli in cucumber ‘boats’, and I made a huge chilli and rice for dinner, plus I’ve had lots of fruit and veg. I feel quite stuffed. I do still want something sweet tho, I had a hifi bar but it didn’t really hit the spot. I need to do a shopping list!

Kelsx33 · 15/09/2023 22:21

I put weight on last week. Have been doing really well… only 2.5lb but still. Struggled to get back on it… hoping for a loss tomorrow. We’ll see. Am aiming to be in size 16 comfortably by mid Nov 🤞🏼

Wilma55 · 16/09/2023 07:12

What's that SW saying @thenewaveragebear1983, if you sort of do the plan it sort of works, if you really do it it REALLY works! Good luck.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 16/09/2023 07:38

@Wilma55 😂 yes I remember all the little sayings! It’s true though. I guess o just need something I can stick to long enough for it to actually work.
It will be hard to break out if that ‘I’ve eaten too much’ mentality though, last night I did get a bit of the dread. I really would have liked a glass of wine but I resisted, I had enough Syns for 1 but only one and I probably would have liked 2

today I’m all planned, going for a run this morning and then I’m going to do a shop to get the basics as I am not used to having extra light dairy. My in laws are coming for a meal tonight so I am cooking moreish chicken from the chubby cubs book which comes in at 2 Syns and a healthy A.

have A good weekend all

TomWambsgansSwans · 16/09/2023 09:00

I lost another 1.5lbs this morning. 11lbs to go until target. I WILL get there by Christmas! Currently weigh 9 stone 10lbs and I'm 5'2.

I can see the difference in my face this week. I've now lost I think 1st 5.5lbs.

useitorlose · 16/09/2023 09:27

Great loss @TomWambsgansSwans and @Wilma55

I'm coming to the end of week 10 and I'm almost 12lbs down. My BMI is back in normal range too.

I got some Eufy smart scales last week and I'm kind of pleased with the data but some of it was a bit of a shock. My body fat overall is standard, including visceral fat, but subcutaneous fat is high - I guess that explains why I can't zip up most of my trousers and jeans. My body age is a year older than my actual age too, and Eufy can sod off with that one. My basal metabolic rate comes out at 1100kcal so it's a good job I am active.

Kelsx33 · 16/09/2023 11:42

3lb lost this week! Buzzing. Haven’t been 100% on it either. But I’m 2lb away from my one stone award and I want it next week!!

TomWambsgansSwans · 16/09/2023 14:27

Well done @Kelsx33!

Thank you @useitorlose - it sounds like you are absolutely smashing it. Have you got any tips?

I've been looking up ultra-processed food and have been cutting down on that which is clearly working for me at the moment. Keeping within my syns too!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 16/09/2023 18:16

Wow some great losses, well done!

useitorlose · 17/09/2023 12:18

@TomWambsgansSwans I think my loss is much slower than most - weigh in tomorrow (online member) and probably 2lbs lost this week, which will be 12.5lbs in ten weeks. However, that is 1.5lbs from a stone and 2.5lbs from Club 10. My goal is 5lbs a month as that gets me back to a comfortable place ready for our holiday in late November.

I'm mostly on plan, eat loads of veg and fruit (vegetarian), walk at least an hour a day, I don't really eat between meals (the Invisalign diet!). I didn't have to give up alcohol as I don't drink. My mindset has really shifted though - DH is away for two weeks and I would often use that as an opportunity to eat junk/UPF that I wouldn't have eaten in front of him in those quantities, but I just haven't wanted to do that this time, and I also haven't been eating it in secret when he's around either. I think I am happier about that than I am about the weight loss!
