Hello, can I join in, joined SW online for the first time three weeks ago after chemotherapy weight gain. I’ve never had a problem with my weight before but the drugs + hormones to counteract side effects have = a 3.5 stone gain.

I’ve lost 12.2lbs so far. I like the diet, finding it quite straightforward as long as I don’t eat out.

MsCupcake · 11/08/2023 16:22

Can I join you? I’m 5 weeks in and 1st 12.5lb down…. I have a LOT to lose so sounds better than it is.

I have had to ‘have a word’ with myself this week as my portion sizes were creeping up so I think I need to keep my kitchen scales handy to keep an eye on that.

I use Ninja machines in various versions, my top tip for chips is to soak the daylights out of them, dry them really well and spray with oil, doesn’t need much but toss the chips so they all get a whiff of oil.

Cook them 5 deg warmer and 10 mins longer than you think but keep taking the drawer out and shaking them up…. Once you get it, you’ll never do them any other way 😉

MsCupcake · 11/08/2023 16:25

@HoldingPatterns well done on your loss - I’m not challenging myself with eating out just yet either. Far too tempting…

storminamooncup · 13/08/2023 07:44

15lbs lost so far so now over a stone. Hoping I can lose at least another stone before Christmas.

pelagra · 13/08/2023 13:24

I know eating out leads me astray, so I've settled on a compromise. We've just been away for a few days, but able to self cater. Most days I cooked at home, but when we wanted to go out, we ate our main course at home then went to the pub for one drink and a pudding. That way I could keep roughly in line with my Syns for the day.

Well done @storminamooncup I'm vaguely aiming for 3/4 pound a week, so would like the same loss by Christmas.

@MsCupcake That is over 5lb a week. Amazing!

Allergyslimmer · 13/08/2023 15:12

I joined online about five weeks ago. There’s no ability to add the things I can’t eat in a recipe search but I’m trawling through lots of recipes and finding a good few I can make or tweak.

I’ve lost five pounds which I’m really pleased with, was hoping for more but life has been getting in the way.

I’ve been doing some of the exercise videos and am quite enjoying them, shoe horned them into my daily life whilst waiting for things like the potatoes to boil or stir frying the veg.

I’m going to try and work the extra easy SP recipes into at least three nights each week from this week. Keep looking at my book and when a food is free but not speed trying to swop it for one that is. Hoping that will make a different too.

well done everyone

BelandtheDragon · 14/08/2023 16:22

Hello everyone, some really good losses!
Well I had a tough few days as DH was ill but all better now. Resulted in hospital visit so with extreme tiredness and feeling stressed, turned to food. I didn’t go too crazy but home scales went from 12-6 to 12-8. I know it’s more water weight than having eaten 7000 extra calories. Went down to 12-7 after a better day on Saturday but not yet back at 12-6. I know 12-6 in my scales last week was equating to 12-7 on SW scales so my strategy is not to weigh in tomorrow night but to go to a class later in the week which gives me a few extra days to correct myself and lose that 1/2 pound to get my 2 stone award. I’m off on hols for 2 wks so it’s not as if I have another weigh in happening. I need to sort out a strategy for hols as I can see me putting on half a stone very easily in 2 wks but still want to enjoy myself.

useitorlose · 14/08/2023 19:32

@allergyslimmer I joined online 5 weeks ago too, I've lost 6lbs so far. I'm vegetarian, I don't eat eggs and I limit dairy.

Ralphiesaurus · 14/08/2023 20:52

Been away from group for three weeks - one missed week because of work and two weeks of a half board holiday. Thrilled to have lost 1.5lb today! 😊 Almost in my next stone zone...

PieonaBarm · 15/08/2023 16:04

1.5lb for me this week so that's an 8lb loss in two weeks. Pretty pleased with that I have to say, so I'm motivated just now!! Hopefully I can keep up the sticking to it!!

pelagra · 15/08/2023 17:08

Pleasant surprise today! I'd lost 4lb, which I hadn't been expecting.

I've got three more weigh-ins before I go on holiday, and it would be nice to reach my 1 stone before then. My goal on holiday is to limit my gain to 2lb, but we come back only a day and a half before I weigh, so not long to recover it.

BelandtheDragon · 17/08/2023 09:29

Well done everyone on the losses. It’s really motivating to see. 1.5 pounds off for me so 2 stone award today. 2 stone 1 pound since start of May. 13 pounds to target! Off on holiday on Saturday for two weeks so fingers crossed it won’t be death by croissant😉

Rainsdropskeepfalling · 17/08/2023 09:40

Currently doing death by ice-cream on my holiday but will try a SP week when I get back me thinks

BelandtheDragon · 17/08/2023 11:15

@Rainsdropskeepfalling yes, agree. I think this will be my approach and going to a class as late as possible in the week! It wouldn’t be unheard of for me to do this.

MsCupcake · 17/08/2023 16:44

Another 3lb off this week, so got my 2 stone shiney 😀

I am happy with that and am within 10lb of my 10% (if I have worked it out properly), so that is my new interim target.

The camaraderie of our little group (we are the last of several groups throughout the day) really really helps, and every week I come away with more ideas to use or incorporate. This weeks is to try quark for making a ‘white sauce’ ….

Kelsx33 · 17/08/2023 17:10

Hello all, I’d like to join this thread please :) been at slimming world three weeks. My third weigh in tomorrow! Lost 2st 8lb originally in 2016 but put it all back on and then lockdown happened and put on some more… after several health scares/bouts of Illness I decided to return!

so far I’ve lost 7lb in two weeks which I’m pleased with! I’ve never had ‘big’ losses. 1-1.5lb a. Week would be great for me. Saturdays are my weigh in, in the morning. However it is my birthday coming up so I will be indulging slightly lol 😂 but the main thing is to get back on track the next day and never ever give up!! Whether you’ve put on 0.5lb or more it’s gonna come off again. Just keep going :) nice to ‘meet’ you all on this thread.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 19/08/2023 11:39

Had a weird megga loss last week of 2.5 kilos !! Didn't go anything different it just fell off 😂

Kelsx33 · 19/08/2023 16:14

Well done Mrs Pelligrino!! I lost 3lb this week, wasn’t expecting that much, but I’m thrilled :)

Rainsdropskeepfalling · 19/08/2023 17:54

On the way from the airport and determined to get back to it. Just losing a few pounds before my holiday really did wonders for my self confidence by the pool so I'm going to try and focus on that.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 19/08/2023 18:14

Kelsx33 · 19/08/2023 16:14

Well done!!

storminamooncup · 20/08/2023 06:13

1 stone 2lbs in total now over I think 9 weeks so far.

Kelsx33 · 20/08/2023 14:01

Well done @storminamooncup that’s great!
I’m really worried about this week. I’m away tomorrow, and as much as I can plan around it I know being away will affect me somewhat. :/

I'm a family carer and after a good year in class I've had to miss several weeks and started to gain. It might be another month before I can get back to class so I'm looking at online membership. Are there any current discount codes?

pappajonessecretchild · 27/08/2023 12:43

nice to see lots of new faces, and a few i recognise! i am still plodding slowly along. almost 3 stone since last november, however not a fast loser. but if you had told me last year i could be 3 stone lighter this year i would have been happy, so remember to look at the overall rather than weekly. I did say to the consultant it would be nice to have a continuous week award for say 10/20 weeks in a row as i have only put on twice, and that was just half a pound each time but never got slimmer of the week so my book looks bare! keep going everyone, i think august and december are the hardest months so almost out of it with 3 mths to get more off for christmas!
