Dry January to Decadent December: Slimming World Support Thread 2022

GettinTrimmer · 03/01/2022 09:40

All welcome Smile I joined Slimming World in November and so far lost 9.5lb, a bit of a gain over Christmas but getting there - I have around 3 stone to lose and I am looking forward to fitting into clothes not worn for a long time and have a big family wedding coming up. I would like to look like the slim, glamourous Aunt in the photos (without upstaging the bride!) Grin

Re SW Iceland meals I wasn't mad on the keema pie but liked the Korean beef. I hear the Aldi Slimwell are good. Think I tried one ages ago but can't remember which one!
Did anyone else do the SW Magazine survey on the app?

GettinTrimmer · 11/02/2022 16:28

Wilma55 I haven't noticed the magazine survey on the app. Will have a look.

I've noticed Aldi Slimwell products, will have a look later. I have some chip shop curry sauce from Iceland.

Me too re crisps, but for some reason they're a trigger food for me. I go on to eat something else, usually cheese.

Weighed in at group and gained 1lb this week. Not surprised. Oh well. I will follow plan and hoping to lose 2lb this week to get Club 10.

Wilma55 · 12/02/2022 10:36

Oh bad luck @GettinTrimmer, do you know where you went wrong?

I weighed in at group too and got 1 lb off taking me to target!
🎯
On my scales I'd lost 1.25 but didn't want to risk it so even took my fitbit off!
It was a bit embarrassing really going to collect my sticker etc!

I'm going to say here so you can all hold me to it, that I'm going to weigh in at least once a month.

Out tonight at friends' (8 of us) so a few celebratory 🍷 s will be drunk.

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/02/2022 13:04

Well done @Wilma55

Sorry fir twin @GettinTrimmer

GettinTrimmer · 12/02/2022 17:43

Wilma55 some of it was digestion iyswim! Other than that falling off the wagon 2 days; I was expecting a maintain. Determined to have a good week & lost 2lb for Club 10. This week Promised Ds we'll go out for lunch then to see local attraction when he's home from uni on Wednesday, also meeting friend in a coffee shop, just 2 challenging situations!

Very well done for reaching target. What happens now apart from weigh in once per month? More syns/Healthy Extras?

Thanks Blondes will post later food for the day, bit of extra to keep me on straight and narrow!

@GettinTrimmer I have had terrible constipation recently but upped my fruit intake which seems to have helped!

My average loss over last 8 weeks was less than 1lb a week so I can have an extra HE and 10 extra syns a couple of days a week. However I think I will try to stick to original plan but maybe relax a bit (more) at weekends.

Feeling a bit below par today, probably too much alcohol last night. Lateral flow test was negative.

Good luck with your challenges!

GettinTrimmer · 15/02/2022 18:38

I've had more fruit Wilma55 sticking to plan best I can this week. Ds home from uni and he's just downed a garlic baguettes! Took all my willpower not to have any as I've had 10 syns already. Are you still going to group for weigh in?

How is everyone else?

Checking back in, been absent due to DD coming down with chicken pox Sad
Lost 1lb last week, hoping to making it 2lb this week and keep chipping away.
We are in an amber warning for the storm tomorrow so not too sure if i’ll be trekking out in iy and may wait until Saturday morning.

Wilma55 · 16/02/2022 10:10

@GettinTrimmer I'm planning to go to group at least once a month and will continue to weigh at home. I don't want to put it back on again as I have so many times before with WW!

@ListenLinda I hope you don't get too much windy weather. We are yellow warning. So far its quite nice out, wish I'd put some washing on!

GettinTrimmer · 16/02/2022 19:31

Wilma55 yes management of weight is ongoing... something I've forgotten before and ended up back at square 1. I want to make sure this time to not do it again. Health is in the mix now, with blood pressure and pre-diabeties to manage.

ListenLinda hope your DD is ok and she hasn't got a severe bout of chickenpox. I am in the South and we had the tail end of storm Dudley, but I think due to hit us on Friday. Hopefully you and me both weighing in Saturday morning.

I hope the others come back, we've quietened down...

After 2 meals for Valentine’s and birthday thought would gain. Actually lost 1.5lbs so happy with that

LeftyLou · 18/02/2022 12:44

I had a maintain this week. I was expecting a gain. To be honest I'm losing motivation but I can't afford to undo the hard work I've done. I'm just fed up with a lot of things at the moment and my way of dealing with it is grabbing all the highly synned foods.

Hi @Blondeshavemorefun welcome Smile and great loss! I very often look on your thread because I love getting inspiration for new meals and snack ideas.

Well done on getting to target @Wilma55. I know what you mean about going up for award. Someone as my group got theirs just after new year and I thought oh God I don't want that to be me when I get there.

Hope everyone is doing okay. I went on a walk yesterday and got drenched but I have also been doing some of the SW fitness classes on the app. Been sedentary having an office job and working from home need to make as much effort as I can.

GettinTrimmer · 18/02/2022 15:12

Blondeshavemorefun great news well done! Meals were beginning of weigh in period and you tried hard, well deserved.

LeftyLou I think a maintain is good. I've fallen off the wagon lately. Tends to be after a good loss in group for some reason, I relax too much. I have a pair of white 3/4 length jeans that I've never worn and a tunic I bought in France. Finally I hope they will fit this summer! I know what you mean about motivation.

I am hoping for a loss tomorrow; anything in the right direction. I am hoping lunch out yesterday hasn't ruined that. I have been very lazy today, not sure where the day's gone. The sun is out now and the wind has calmed so I will drag myself out for a walk. It's food tasting in group tomorrow. I'll let you know if I come away with any new ideas.

GettinTrimmer · 19/02/2022 09:21

Weighed in at group, lost 0.5lb which is in the right direction at least. Keep going everyone. I am disappointed but better than a maintain or a gain.

Morning everyone! We had visitors for the weekend so much food and drink was consumed! Having caught up on recent posts I see that even those who had "bad" days did really well or better than expected at weigh in - because they didn't give up but got back on it. So on my scales I've put on a pound since last week, I'm going to start tracking again today and hope for success.

Just heard that one of my visitors tested positive this morning! I've got a cold but still negative so fingers crossed.

EdnaMole · 23/02/2022 07:38

Hello everyone! Been advised to come along and jump on this board for motivation and support. Three weeks in and only three pounds lost..but definitely feeling trimmer clothes wise and achieving more at gym so I guess it’s ok..half a stone gone since Xmas so it’s not too bad, but with three and a half stone left to lose I would like slightly speedier progress.
My worst time of the day is 4.30-6.30pm wanting to snack on way home from work and waiting for husband to get home from work so we can eat evening meal..just about ready to chew off my own leg sometimes when I’m waiting and he’s late and in the past that’s when I’ve given in to terrible snacking habits…

Wilma55 · 23/02/2022 09:01

Hi Edna, I read your other post about only losing 1/2 lb, a few of us were in that club recently!

Re snacking before evening meal can you prepare some low/no syn snacks ready for this time? How many syns would you be prepared to use and do you prefer sweet or savoury?

Maybe we can come up with some suggestion? I'll start off with these...

Celery with baby bel or cheese triangle or home made hummus
Hard boiled egg
Lean ham or chicken slices
Alpen light (3 syns)
Box of chopped fruit

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/02/2022 09:12

Chopped apple in yog .5 sun

Large glass of water or squash

Boiled eggs

Ham rolled over cucumber

EdnaMole · 23/02/2022 13:14

Thanks so much for your suggestions. I did some chopped carrot and pepper with a bit of houmous yesterday & have boiled some eggs to have as an emergency snack as I’m going to a Pilates class tonight and won’t be eating until after 7.30pm. Busy decorating the kitchen today too..busy hands can’t shove snacks in my mouth (that’s the hope!!) 🤣🤣🤣🤣

GettinTrimmer · 23/02/2022 21:05

Welcome EdnaMole Smile how long have you been doing Pilates?

I started a new exercise class yesterday evening called Clubbercise, which is jumping around in the dark energetically to 90s club music with LED Glow sticks (but I am too tight to buy the sticks so just wave arms around!). I am going to try Zumba on Monday too.

Well done on half a stone since Christmas. Do you go to group, do DW online or on your own? I only lost 0.5lb last weigh in and cutting down on portions a bit. I have started having healthy extra B cheese in-between meals, that's helping me a bit.

EdnaMole · 24/02/2022 07:34

Sort of did SW on my own in January as I couldn’t get to any classes, then started “properly” at a class three weeks ago. Used to go years ago..there’s aspects of it I like but I don’t like “fake food” chat and I can’t stand Muller Lights!! But this group seem like a nice bunch. Clubbed size sounds good fun - some friends of mine did it a few years ago and the photos were hilarious!!! I try to go to a local gym two or three times a week, it’s for 40+ ladies and it’s targeted very specifically at the needs of the peri menopausal/menopausal woman. Really good as it’s a small group, combination of weights and HIIT and the routines change every 3 weeks so you don’t get bored and the classes are 45 mins so don’t take up hours of your day. I’ve been going for a few years now but been a bit half hearted at times and then of course lockdown hit and I did bugger all except eat cakes and drink wine!! So now I’m trying to really go for it as well as SW and feeling much better for it - have increased the weights I can lift and I can nearly plank for a whole minute!! It’s also helping me sleep which can be a huge problem for me and when I’m overtired I tend to reach for sugary or carb-heavy snacks. I know I need to be patient and losing 4 and a half stone will take time but if it’s going to be half a pound a week that’s a bit disheartening in some ways! Definitely need to keep a close eye on portion size and get a better handle on low syn or free food snacks I reckon.

EdnaMole · 24/02/2022 07:35

*Clubbersize…not clubbed size
(Picturing someone with huge club battering people who have put on weight now..) 🤣

LeftyLou · 24/02/2022 10:17

Clubbersize sounds fun! I have that pictured in my head now @EdnaMole 😂

I lost 1lbs this week. So very happy with that as still struggling a little bit but it has helped to put me in a better mind set.

Just wondering what is everyone's raffles like at their groups. I have heard of some terrible ones. The one I go to I think are really good. I've won a fruit and vegetable hamper and a 30lbs countdown where you put £1 in for every lbs you lose. There's also been a slow cooker, nosecco and diet shandy, hot chocolate options. This week was a frying pan with pancake mix.

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/02/2022 15:34

Well done @LeftyLou

I do at home alone but with sw online

I work diff time. So would never be at same group and def don’t want to be part of the happy clappy flappy gang my friend says about

I know what to do and in mindset this time to do it. Hopefully
