All welcome Smile I joined Slimming World in November and so far lost 9.5lb, a bit of a gain over Christmas but getting there - I have around 3 stone to lose and I am looking forward to fitting into clothes not worn for a long time and have a big family wedding coming up. I would like to look like the slim, glamourous Aunt in the photos (without upstaging the bride!) Grin

Or might have been the eat all meet no carbs diet

LightandAiry · 04/09/2022 14:56

I've seen something else about syns - a syn plate done in advance.

I know Slimming World say eat potatoes etc freely, but I need to cut down, especially as I am pre-diabetic and need to watch carbs.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 04/09/2022 16:23

@Blondeshavemorefun I started September last year, but actually been at the three stone mark, give or take, about 6 weeks, and have been faffing around a bit. @Carpediem15 marbles makes a lot of sense. Thanks.@LightandAiry I need to restrict the carbs. I particularly need to keep off bread. I find if I think of my B option as nuts or ryvita, I always do better.

So about a year. That’s good going. Well done

made another chicken stir fry noodle thing for tea

I'm enjoying being able to have free carbs, but limiting them.

Today we had roast dinner. I do a huge tray of free veg and roast it in a little oil. It's delicious heated through the next day in the air dryer so that is tomorrow sorted too.
Steak, mushrooms, onions and maybe some new potatoes for dinner Tues.
That's as far as my meal planning has got.
I need to syn my aubergine pesto before I decide if that is wed sorted too.

Nothing for breakfasts. I cba with it.
And it will be salad leaves, ham, random
other salad veg and fat free cottage cheese for lunch daily. With grapes. I'm a creature of habit. No time or chance to snack during the day at school as long as I avoid the staff room!

LightandAiry · 05/09/2022 11:27

"DrMadelineMaxwell* first day back at school for you - all the best. Your lunch is good without starchy food I am doing the same today and looking to make it a habit.

I am not great on meal planning but for work Weds, Thurs & Fri I will plan day time.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants I am going bread free this week and doing ryvitas instead for HEXb. I am hoping that makes a difference.

I had 2ryvitas, cottage cheese and a banana for breakfast and ate much more slowly. I am much less hungry! A revelation.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 05/09/2022 12:50

Ryvita is the future! I like the fruit ones, but don't see them in our shops very often @LightandAiry

LightandAiry · 05/09/2022 17:35

I've seen them in Sainsbury's I've always felt fruit ryvitas were a bit wrong, but I fancy trying them now

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 05/09/2022 20:17

Thanks re Sainsbos. I really like them with low fat soft cheese on.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 05/09/2022 22:14

I like the fruit ones, just eating them dry with a cup of tea!

Dinner turned out to be leftover roast veg and a thin protein seed bagel thing with a smear of philly light. V nice it was too.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 06/09/2022 11:50

You can actually eat ryvita as cereal, if you crumble/break it down. Nice with almond milk. BTW, if anyone else is considering the Syn Jar, I've got some marbles on order from The Works, which turned out to be cheaper than Ebay.

LightandAiry · 06/09/2022 13:01

Thanks SpongeBobJudgeyPants anything to get going. I am just back from walking to our local Sainsbury's, no fruit ryvita. I bought Nairn's ginger oatcakes instead, £1 each on special offer instead.

That's an easy dinner DrMadelineMaxwell given me an idea for tomorrow.

GhostToast · 06/09/2022 13:44

Hiya all, can I join you please?

Previously did SW and lost 3 stone before stopping and gaining it all back (and more!). Have decided enough is enough and I'm halfway through my first week doing SW online, weigh on Friday. If I'm honest, have about 6 stone to lose so it's going to take quite a while.

I've just had a read through the thread and you've all motivated me to really stay with it this time around so thank you! 😁

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/09/2022 14:26

Hi @GhostToast most of have been done similar

I know sw works when keep to it but it’s more once lost the weight , people often gain as eat the old nice stuff again

I also wi Fri as feel if I have a nice weekend I have the week to get it off

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 06/09/2022 14:28

Welcome @GhostToast I was a bit daunted when I joined, but as my BMI was over 30, I qualified for the 12 weeks free via the NHS. Figured if I got a stone off that way, I would feel motivated to carry on, and it's worked, mostly, apart from the odd blip.
Ginger oatcakes sounds good. How synny are they @LightandAiry ?

LightandAiry · 06/09/2022 14:51

SpongeBobJudgeyPants they are called oat biscuits with stem ginger, 2syns each. Could be x2 as half HEB. I may have 2 later as syns with a proper coffee.

Welcome GhostToast I go to group but also find we can help each other keep going on here. I find saving syns until the evening helps.

Blondeshavemorefun this time I will keep going after getting to goal, I agree we go back to what we were doing before, it's easy to just forget about it. How was your afternoon tea? I had afternoon tea at a spa day in May....heaven!

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 06/09/2022 15:04

Sounds good @LightandAiry . Who makes them please? Last question. I can feel a trip to Sainsbos coming on!

LightandAiry · 06/09/2022 15:20

Nairn oat cakes/biscuits SpongeBobJudgeyPants you may have more luck with fruity Ryvitas in your Sainsbury's. They also do cheese oat cakes which as a bit too moreish for me.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 06/09/2022 15:23

Sorry @LightandAiry . You actually said Nairns above, and I didn't absorb it. Very noble and polite not to point it out! Grin

LightandAiry · 06/09/2022 15:32

Not at all Sponge 😊

@LightandAiry I gave said so many times I will keep going after target, but do I? No! Put on half of my loss but once group re starts at normal venue (any excuse not to go!) I'm going back. Got a Christmas cruise booked so hopefully that will motivate me!

LightandAiry · 06/09/2022 16:12

Wilma55 just goes to show weight management is forever ongoing. On-off, but I don't want to end up back at square one again. Christmas Cruise sounds lovely. Are you hoping to see the Northern Lights if it's that way?

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 06/09/2022 17:46

I'm a Fat Gold WW member. I've probs said this before, but DM gets her Crimbo weight off, usually just a few pounds, and is back at a good BMI. I've always waited til I can't get my bum through the attic hatch. No more. It needs to be a lifetime thing for me. I've always let it slide back on, on the grounds that being careful what you eat is hard. As I heard a PT trainer say, "Losing weight is hard, being fat is hard. Pick your 'hard'". Makes sense to me. I've got better at this as I've got older I think. I've got other health issues that mean extra weight is a really bad idea, so that has focused me a lot.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 06/09/2022 21:36

I'm also a fat ww gold member (love that phrase!). The photo of me at target - over ten years ago - at my sisters' wedding is on my phone screen as a reminder that I have fitted in a size 12 in my life and it's what I'm aiming for again.

It's always such a boost when you lose a lot in the first week, but then it seems to drag after that.
I've had a really good week. Barely used my syns (hate that name!). So I'm hoping for a good loss.

I'm doing quite well on the stopping snacking. And on the temptation to go back for seconds. :)

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 07/09/2022 10:06

I've got a cork board with clothes etc that Id love to buy, etc. DH is fancying an expensive waistcoat when he's a bit thinner, so have a printout of said waistcoat, with DH's head on it! I'm all for visual reminders. Sadly, I haven't been at goal since FB was a thing, as I think having a pic as a screen saver is a really good idea. I'm off to collect my marbles today! If only they were the metaphorical marbles that I lost many moons ago Grin I'm about to make a pancake breakfast, with froz fruit, and the last of the garden raspberries. This keeps me full for longer, and less likely to go off plan.

How is everyone doing?
