All welcome Smile I joined Slimming World in November and so far lost 9.5lb, a bit of a gain over Christmas but getting there - I have around 3 stone to lose and I am looking forward to fitting into clothes not worn for a long time and have a big family wedding coming up. I would like to look like the slim, glamourous Aunt in the photos (without upstaging the bride!) Grin

I maintainedSpongeBobJudgeyPants did well beginning of the week then went AWOL!

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 06/08/2022 18:40

My week has been a bit like that. Need to have a word with myself.

LightandAiry · 06/08/2022 20:27

Me too- a word with me I mean not you!

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 07/08/2022 09:44

Actually, it might help if someone else did have a word @Light! If someone threatened to send the boys round for a word, that would really up my game! Grin

Carpediem15 · 07/08/2022 13:08

Can I be included in that as well please, I need a kick up the bum. 1/2 lb gain and then stayed the same yesterday. I only need 1.5 lbs for a stone but at this rate never going to get it.

Must get back to doing 10thousand steps instead of saying that's 6, that will do infact I am going to turn this off and go out there now. 😎

LightandAiry · 08/08/2022 06:16

Morning all, crap night's sleep here, but I have decided to be 100% focused for next 4 days at least until we go away for a big wedding.

OK....I've kicked myself up the bum, off shopping in a while to get Slimming World friendly grub. Anyway the week I lost 2.5lb the difference was I cooked a great big veggie stew and had it over several days, one night I even had 2 plates of it. I will be doing that again.

Carpediem15 more steps - yes - walking is brilliant.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 08/08/2022 08:26

Hi. Room for one more? I joined last week (got a 12 week free course via the gp) and working towards my first weigh in. Then will have a rubbish weekend v off the cuff I've decided to join some friends in their holiday in Spain. So 4 days of half board ahead of me. I'm planning how to work around that to limit the damage already.
I am was 14.3 on my first WI. And I've never done SW before though I did get to goal with WW ages ago. First goal...get below 14 and cope with the holiday away.

Seems like a v supportive and friendly thread here. 😁

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 08/08/2022 09:43

Hi All, Hi @DrMadelineMaxwell what sort of boys would motivate you? I have a sort of image of a variation on the Chippendales. This was going back to the 'sending the boys round' comment by the way.@Carpediem15 do you have a preference? Grin Perhaps if I book them all together, I can get a discount! @DrMadelineMaxwell that's how I started. I figured if I lost about a stone that would motivate me to keep going, and it has. I'm 3 stone down now. Went for a Notparkrun walk last night, and my time is improving. It also said I'd burnt about 400 cals off, so that will hopefully offset some of the cake I had at the allotment barbeque the other day....

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 08/08/2022 09:48

@LightandAiry I find not sleeping makes it all soooo much more difficult. These days, even if I am not doing great at following, I try and pack the speed food in. I find it really helps, and have often got away with either a maintain or a very small gain, when in the bad old days it would have been leave it til your bum won't go through the attic hatch anymore. It's all an improvement on that, is my POV.

LightandAiry · 08/08/2022 12:51

Any sort of boys for me apart from bakers or chefs! SpongeBobJudgeyPants yes speed is the way to go. Cheaper soft fruits can be found at the moment too; I've just bought a large batch of strawberries, also there are many ripened blackberries on a walk close to my house....must go picking.

Welcome DrMadelineMaxwell I started out heavier than you are now, and now I am 1 stone 8.5lb lighter. Stick with us! Annoyingly, if I'd lost 0.5lb this week, I would have gone down to the next stone bracket but I maintained, big wedding at the weekend with barbecue the night before, but I have booked 2 week's holiday. The last thing I want is a sizeable gain as it takes a while to go.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 08/08/2022 20:49

That's exactly what I like to hear @LightandAiry . Well done on that loss....if that can be me eventually then great!

I'm an ex ww-er. I am liking all the free food, which ww had taken on when they changed their plan a while back. I like the HE so not having to count the cereal I had this morning was good too - though I did ensure I weighed it out!
But other food points/syns are so high by comparison. It is making me make better choices. But I dont like the name syns!

DrMadelineMaxwell · 08/08/2022 20:51

Not a big fan of the online food planner either....nutrachecks is much better. But I'm going old school instead and I've bought a nifty food journal instead. I'll weigh in on the app and use it to find food values but then mostly log on the journal.

LightandAiry · 09/08/2022 09:26

I did WW years ago DrMadelineMaxwell I used to like the exercise points as extras but I think they stopped doing that. I have stalled with weight loss, got my 1.5 stone award in March, only now am I really trying to embrace it again, at least I maintained and now I am BMI 30 which is overweight not obese! I will say blood pressure is now normal(ish), cholesterol low but blood sugar still just in prediabetic range. I also have a hand written food diary, I really don't want to gain back what I've lost so will even take it on holiday with me!

I find keeping within healthy extras sometimes challenging, but I've decided to keep them to look forward to later in the day. I love bread! And cheese.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 09/08/2022 20:18

I've just finished my dance fit class and was just thinking that normally that would have afforded me a few extra points but not on SW.
I'm fine with that to be fair as I have 6 more days until I go away for 4 nights abroad on a half board holiday with friends, so I want to bank as much weight loss as I can in my first week and a half before then and then I will have 4 days to undo some of the damage before my following class.

I'm a bit of a lightweight when it comes to drinking to be fair. Which my friends are not. So alcohol shouldn't be a problem. But pastries at breakfast are my downfall. When I joined ww there was no plan for a holiday and I was going to be sooo good. Then plans changed only a few days ago.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 09/08/2022 20:21

I liked my bowl of cereal the other day then realised I could have to count the bread roll I was going to use to make a mini pizza. So I changed my planned meal and we had chicken, sweetcorn and mushroom in a hoisin and garlic sauce with noodles instead. Only 3 syns for the meal then.

In a normal week (when school goes back in sept) I don't eat breakfast anyway.

Carpediem15 · 10/08/2022 11:21

When I started SW I knocked my usual breakfast on the head (porridge) as I much prefer a sandwich with some salad at lunch time, now have chopped fruit with some fat free yogurt. That one B choice shocked me as my friend told me it was 2 so now I will syn a couple of Ryvita in the afternoon.
I have done my 10,000 steps every day now and yesterday went to Aqua for the first time since lockdown so hopeful for the 1.5lbs this week.
Sllimmingeats blog has really help with the meal planning as she has weekly menus and my hubby eats and enjoys them plus I keep a couple of the Aldi Slimming World type meals in the freezer that are only 1 or 2 syns each (except the sausage one which is 6) and are £1.99.
Hopefully I have kicked myself up the bum this week and keep on track.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 10/08/2022 12:24

Hi Everyone ok?

I get round the no B for brekkie thing by having a pancake with frozen berries. Saves B option for later. You ok @LightandAiry ?

LightandAiry · 10/08/2022 19:28

Hi it's so hot and stuffy but I darent succumb to ice cream as I've gone way over syns today. My DD seems to have demolished all the fruit so I took a packet of low fat crisps to work, rich teas, cereal bar and was tempted by an m & s mini Swiss roll - it was lush, very orangey and chocolatey. I've had 27 syns (I won't mention the Tracker bar) I find Wednesdays very challenging, long day at work and my organisation has gone to pot today.

Anyway despite the challenges I have to keep going....I've booked 2 week's holiday by the time I weigh in next end of August I hope to have done some damage limitation....

LightandAiry · 10/08/2022 19:30

Oh and for breakfast I often have eggs with beans & mushrooms. Today I had a cheese sandwich at lunch which was my a & b. SpongeBobJudgeyPants are those pancakes on the app?

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 10/08/2022 20:36

Some days are more challenging than others @LightandAiry Re pancakes, it's probably a sweet omelette. I just get a couple of eggs, and whisk with a bit of artificial sweetener. Job done. The protein helps me enormously, if I leave enough to do it, rather than faffing around in my dressing gown doing other stuff, until there's no time.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 10/08/2022 20:37

Enough time. Even.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 10/08/2022 21:46

My normal day, when at work, is no breakfast, coffee at the start of the day and no snacking. For lunch it's either a mug of chicken noodle ww soup, a salad (would have to count the coleslaw) or recently I've been taking a yogurt with chopped dried apricots in and a tsp of honey stirred through. Plus fruit.

So that is going to be not too bad to fit into slimming world I think. Maybe I need to look for a low synned salad dressing.

I've had a message to say it's a tasting day tomorrow at my first weigh in meeting - what on earth do I take to that?

Hoping for a good first-week loss.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 11/08/2022 11:38

6lb off! On my scales at home I thought it was only 3.
Onward to being on plan for the next 5 days before I'm away for 5 days on holiday. On half board.

We had one last week and made these patties - easy to make and made them 25gms each and they went down well. www.slimmingeats.com/blog/tuna-and-sweet-potato-patties
I found some lower and than low mayo in Aldi a few weeks ago and it is half the price of Hellmans and is good.

LightandAiry · 11/08/2022 14:52

6lb off DrMadelineMaxwell very well done :)
