All welcome Smile I joined Slimming World in November and so far lost 9.5lb, a bit of a gain over Christmas but getting there - I have around 3 stone to lose and I am looking forward to fitting into clothes not worn for a long time and have a big family wedding coming up. I would like to look like the slim, glamourous Aunt in the photos (without upstaging the bride!) Grin

How's it going today gettin? Are you back on track? That feeling of sabotage is v powerful.

I've had coffee so far but no breakfast. Weirdly, I feel better for not having breakfast as I've not been tempted to snack mid morning. I'm about to have lunch - boiled eggs and a big salad with balsamic dressing. I'm having left over roast chicken, vegetables and salad for dinner.

I find the weekends difficult as I feel like I've earned a treat - I'm going to tell myself that it's only a few days until weigh in and I'll feel disappointed if I've undone my hard work of the week.

GettinTrimmer · 02/07/2022 09:05

Thanks SpongeBobJudgeyPants yes anything to keep me on the straight and narrow, I'll have a listen to the podcasts, not done that lately.

banabak today won't be much good, it's my Birthday, off out for dinner this evening! Going out with dd for a waterside walk then the cafe also around lunch time....maybe cake on my Birthday! I am avoiding group today, but tomorrow luckily I feel my head is back in it a bit more - I am planning tomorrow, then day by day, will be meeting up with friends tomorrow morning, but only coffee, then salad for lunch, Slimming World roast dinner for the evening. Also back to more activity, walking and an exercise class once per week.

When the go to is comfort eating, it's hard, but earlier on in the year I told myself losing weight and being healthy is something I can control, but it seems to have gone out of my orbit with other things going on, I want that mindset back, it's helped me to succeed with the 1.5 stone weight loss. I hope you manage to get some time to yourself.

How is everyone else doing?

Day 3 for me and when I was offered wine and snacks last night, I thought about how I would feel standing on the scales on Wednesday and said no. That's a massive change as I haven't said no for weight reasons for the past couple of years. Weirdly I don't get the same feeling about standing on my own scales at home so I'm glad I went on Wednesday. I don't stay for the group chat, I like to weigh and go.

Happy birthday gettin, special rules have to be permitted on birthdays. Enjoy your day.

banabak · 03/07/2022 14:54

Wednesday evening SW weigh in seems a long way away - each decision not to eat something I normally would seems big at the moment and I'm constantly thinking about food. I'm telling myself that each day and each positive food decision I make means I'm building new habits which is what I need to keep on going. Annoying that I'd spent so much time doing this in the past and I'd forgotten how much of a slog it feels at the beginning. Anyway, so far so good today, with boiled eggs and salad for lunch and blueberries for a snack. Salmon and lots of vegetables planned for dinner.

GettinTrimmer · 03/07/2022 17:24

Sounds disciplined bananak well done. Do have any syns planned? Perhaps something this evening, unless you use them at meal times.

I am pleased to say I've had a good day. Eggs on toast for breakfast, and salad with stir fried Quorn for lunch. Slimming World roast dinner eating early, cooking now.

Belated Happy Birthday Gettin! Birthday cake has no syns, so long as its your own, and you only have one fairly sensible piece! @banabak sounds like you're a woman on a mission. Keep going! I've been having a sweet pancake for breakfast, which avoids hex B, but I can't stop it sticking to the pan, whatever variation of temperature etc I try with frylight, and I'm fed up of major cleaning of my Lying Non Stick pan! Any ideas anyone? TIA.

LeftyLou · 05/07/2022 16:24

How is everyone doing? Happy Birthday for the other day @GettinTrimmer 😊

Does anyone listen to the SW podcast? What does anyone think? I like it and I like the ladies who do it although I find Anna a tad irritating. I've been listening from the start and I am currently in April 2021
The episode was about people going back out after lockdown and strategies to put in place. Anna must have said the word Actually 100 times. Then when she had said it about 10 times in the first sentence Clare starting doing it. Please stop!

I find it entertaining as a whole and some good tips. Albeit repeated.

On another note I maintained last week. Not sure about this week. Its weigh in tomorrow.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 06/07/2022 10:49

@LeftyLou I mentioned the podcasts in a post a couple of days ago, and referred to them as 'cheesy' Grin I find the Consultant is easier to listen to, the other one is a bit 'try hard'. Would be better if she relaxed into it more. Worth listening to though, but I have to do something else at the same time. I've had an ok ish week, weigh in tomorrow, so we'll see.

How is everyone?

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 06/07/2022 10:51

And the holiday I put a pound on, when DH weighed in he had gained 6 pounds, so could have been much worse. TBH I am more careful than DH, even when relaxing the food on holidays, so it's an improvement for me.

banabak · 06/07/2022 19:45

I'm 3lbs down so I'm happy with the first week of SW. I knew I needed to have a good start to help keep me motivated. I've been having my syns with meals (including avocados which don't feel v syn like) and an odd square of dark chocolate here and there.

My first goal is half a stone, which seems easier today than it did this time last week.

Hope everyone else is having a good week

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 07/07/2022 08:46

Weigh-in in an hour. Waiting for it semi-anxiously. Some syns this week may have been used on cake. One was shared piece with DH, counted. The other one was sort of counted. Not allowed for, but given to us in Costa late in the day by the witch the nice lady behind the counter. I didn't need to eat it, but had it later, sort of counted. You know how what you want to eat at the end of the day is the same number of syns that you have left? Even if you have 5 syns left, and The Treat is 10 syns? That Grin

How is everyone?

Wilma55 · 07/07/2022 08:56

Good luck @SpongeBobJudgeyPants fingers crossed for you. I am supposedly maintaing but now at least 4 over target. I would really like to be 7 under my original target. Hard to get back on it as haven't been going regularly to group. Will power has taken a dive. Think I need to go every week really. Let us know how you get on.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 07/07/2022 11:48

Thanks @Wilma55 . Well, I'm a bit suprised to have lost 3lbs. Got my 3 stone award too! Well chuffed. TBH after the Boris news, nowt could spoil my day! I would love to be nearer to target, Wilma. I am a fat Gold WW lifetime member, but way over target. I think the 'secret' as you say, is just to keep going and weighing in. That's where I went wrong last time...

Wilma55 · 07/07/2022 13:55

Haha I'm a WW gold member too but even more over that goal weight. Well done on your 3lb and 3 stone award @SpongeBobJudgeyPants

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 07/07/2022 14:09

Thanks! I have resigned myself to going forever really... watching a motivational video recently which really clicked with me. Paraphrased to "Losing (and maintaining) weight is hard. Being fat is hard. Pick your hard".

banabak · 07/07/2022 21:15

SpongeBob fantastic news!!! Any tips to share? How long did it take?

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 07/07/2022 21:36

@banabak . Thanks! Being going since September last year, still a fatty though, I have a chunk to go yet! How are you getting on? Podcasts are helpful, I think.

GettinTrimmer · 08/07/2022 07:15

Hi all, excuses are all I can offer at the moment, but I am doing well with actiivity. It's my weigh in tomorrow. I will kick myself if I have a sizeable gain by August as I have a dress to wear for a wedding.

6 mile walk yesterday, booked open water swimming for Sunday at a lake nearby and going on a 12 mile walk today along the coast with DH. I will take myself a tuna and pasta SW friendly salad.

I need my SW mojo back and hope the gain I will see on the scales tomorrow isn't too bad. Thanks for suggestions of podcasts. It's been a funny week with having to drop ds off to get his flight from Heathrow at stupid o'clock, and then finding the motorway was closed (didn't drive him all the way, just to a nearby town, which took an hour - at 1am, then had to get home), and other stuff going on which I won't bore you with.

banabak well done on your 3lb, your effort paid off.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants 3 stone! Fantastic and 3lb is great. Oh yes, Costa were giving away cake! Lime wasn't it? Not enough will power from me to refuse. I think I could have got away with it but the coffee and biscotti cake I had yesterday also wasn't a good move. I did walk over an hour though to get there (20,000 steps yesterday), but that won't stop me from a gain.

Wilma55 you and me both with willpower, especially when faced with toblerone (present for my birthday from dd). 8.5 syns for one triangle.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 08/07/2022 18:07

@GettinTrimmer you may be fine. I was! The cake was Bosh or similar, kind of brownie with pecan nuts, and possibly beetroot, assume where the bosh (Borchst?) comes from...Lush. Had it instead of the 5.5 syn kit cat I had planned. I can't even find the syns for it. Not that I looked, before I ate it...

Sounds like you are doing great with your Body Magic. Swim in the lake sounds good. I come from the Lakes, but no where near now!

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 08/07/2022 18:18

Hope everyone is okay.

LightandAiry · 08/07/2022 20:10

Hi SpongeBobJudgeyPants all OK here thanks apart from being bad on the diet. I will be going to group tomorrow first time in 2 weeks & I'll post the damage 🤞 I have changed my username back to LightandAiry from GettinTrimmer by the way!

LightandAiry · 08/07/2022 20:22

Oh, I nearly gave myself sunstroke on the 12 mile walk. It was scorching! Not the best day to choose.

Do you miss living near the lakes? The lake I am swimming in on Sunday is a man-made lake especially for water sports and swimming, but it's very pretty, with ducklings at one end. Not wild swimming though as there's changing rooms and a little cafe. Of course it's free in the sea, but I'd like a little bit of luxury without trying to get changed in public😳

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 09/07/2022 06:19

Hi Light. You are owning it by going back through the door. Well done for that. I have blips too often, but I just keep dragging my bum back through the door. What actually helps, if you can run to it, is buying a block of weeks at at time. I think they come in 6 or 12, and you effectively get a discount, but must book holiday weeks when you buy it. So I've paid for it, and incentivised my going iuswim. Do come back today, if you can and update.

Yes, I miss living somewhere so beautiful. Can't see me going to live back there anytime soon, priced out of area, second homes, etc Sad DD is on south coast, DM is top of Cumbria, almost Scotland, sister in Isle of Man, so difficult geographically. When I go up the M6 I rember for gorgeous it is!

Do you have one of those humungous changing poncho towel things?
I'd like to be fit enough to do coast to coast walk, but the softy version where they transport your bags to the next guest house or hotel.

LightandAiry · 09/07/2022 11:08

Morning all, I weighed in today and it's no surprise to find out that I have gained 2lb. Oh well.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants we're on the South Coast! Your family are scattered around, but it makes for nice visits? It's a shame to be priced out of an area.

I have got hold of a summer poncho changing thing, it's very helpful.
