All welcome Smile I joined Slimming World in November and so far lost 9.5lb, a bit of a gain over Christmas but getting there - I have around 3 stone to lose and I am looking forward to fitting into clothes not worn for a long time and have a big family wedding coming up. I would like to look like the slim, glamourous Aunt in the photos (without upstaging the bride!) Grin

I was 2.5 off on Saturday which is the most to date so bought the 12 week package. Hope to get to target by then so I will not have to pay. Only averaging 1lb week and thought it would be more but it is half a stone that would have still have been there if I had not made my mind up to go to SW.
Don't know how lots of them get 3lb + every week then say they have been out for a couple of meals or had week-end in the pub, think I will have to have what they are having. 😀

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 07/06/2022 15:09

@GettinTrimmer sounds like things are pretty stressful, which always makes it harder to think about on plan food I think. Good luck with this week. Our group is pretty good, but I changed a few months ago, as the consultant for previous one had lost her way a bit... This one used to be manager until fairly recently, and she's generally a lot more motivational. @Wilma55 good luck for next week. If your consultant can't supply your PIN, maybe a call to SW themselves? Recently read the autobiography of Margaret Miles- Bramwell, founder of SW. That was quite interesting.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 07/06/2022 18:17

@Carpediem15 I think the 12 week plan helps a lot. I get what you mean about people losing loads, the thing they tend to have in common is they are younger than me! Grin

Pebbledashery · 08/06/2022 19:05

Well. This week has gone well.
Shocking week at work so far..
Just had a Chinese delivered.
Weigh in tomorrow.
FML.

LeftyLou · 10/06/2022 16:22

I need to really get back into it. I had a half lbs gain last week but I took that as a win over the jubilee. My weekend did last from Thursday to Monday.

Looking back I am the exact same weight as I was 1 month ago.

Hope everyone is doing okay.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 11/06/2022 13:25

@Pebbledashery hope your weigh in was not too bad. @LeftyLou that doesn't sound too bad for a looong weekend! I've put half a pound on. I don't think it was Platty Joobs, but the week before when I was away, and haven't weighed since. I've been a bit more careful since, have been a bit careless about writing stuff down.

GettinTrimmer · 13/06/2022 06:50

Hi everyone, I lost 1,5lb weigh in on Saturday. Lately I gained 4lb back. I only have 3.5lb to go down into the next stone bracket, but not exactly had an 'on plan' weekend; hopefully it's retrievable by next weigh in. Planning on SP days this week.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants I think Platty Joobs resulted in my 2lb gain last week, it was the alcohol! Half a pound is good if you've been away.

LeftyLou Half lb gain for the long weekend is a win. Over the last 12 weeks I have stayed the same. I am determined to pull this back.

Hi All. Hope everyone is doing ok? @GettinTrimmer so that's ok, 1.5 llbs is a good chunk off the gain. Next stone bracket within sight now! Hopefully this week will be great. I have to have a word with myself too often every now and then Grin

LeftyLou · 15/06/2022 21:40

It was a maintain for me this week.
I am going to go back to basics. Make a plan for the week ahead and write everything down. I said 5 for my goal. I've only had bigger losses in the first couple of weeks so if I can achieve even half of that I'll be over the moon.

I just need to actually put words into action.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 16/06/2022 11:05

Hi All, hope everyone is ok. @LeftyLou I find I do better if I write stuff down. I 'forget' otherwise. I have a notebook, and put it in an order that works for me, as I don't find the SW printed weekly sheets do that, as they list Speed separately, certainly on the Extra Easy food diary. I can see the point, but not how my brain works. I've lost 1.5 and found myself through bad planning having toast in a cafe yesterday, as my blood sugar was plummeting and I hadn't packed anything. Need a word with myself.

Wilma55 · 18/06/2022 10:24

1.5 off this morning so just escaped having to pay. I was wearing a summer dress and hadn't had breakfast so probably not a true loss. Will have to keep tracking on the app and trying to resist the alcohol, crisps etc. Going to a 50th birthday party tonight so will have the night off and start again tomorrow.

Sounds like you enjoyed your honeymoon @Blondeshavemorefun and well done on the losses everyone.

Carpediem15 · 18/06/2022 15:06

I gained lb last week and lost 3 today and ate almost the same meals both weeks. After the gain thought I would repeat the food to see what would happen so there is no pattern to this weight loss lark for me.

LeftyLou · 22/06/2022 22:13

2.5 off for me this week. That is 1 stone 11 in total.

Very happy with that. I just need to keep going.

banabak · 29/06/2022 18:56

I'm about to a 7pm SW meet to re-join. I lost 3 stone a few years ago but lockdown and a massively traumatic life event means I've put it all back on and more. I need public accountability otherwise I give myself permission to eat all the carbs. I often wonder if I, like my Labrador, do not have the gene that makes me feel full.

I'll see you at the other side of weigh in and I'll hopefully be posting progress here.

Smile
SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 29/06/2022 21:42

Hi All. Hope everyone is ok. I'm just a couple of pounds away from losing 3 stone, but was away last week, so not holding my breath, although we did loads of walking. Seems like we just have to keep going, as said previously. Actually listened to one of the podcasts today on the app, which was quite good. @banabak good for you going back. How did you get on?

banabak · 30/06/2022 05:28

Hi spongebob, I remember hovering around the 3 stone target for a little while. Hope your weigh in goes well and thanks for asking about last night.

So, it went as badly as I expected! There's something very powerful for me in standing on the scales once a week, so I felt like I'd done well to get myself there. I've been head in the sand for a while. I'd like/need to lose 3 stone. I've done it before and so I'm telling myself I can do it again. I was reading my old book from 6 years ago this evening and it took 7 months to lose.

I had a quick skim through the new books last night but will sit down properly to read them this evening. My plan is to make tasty salads with eggs, chicken or salmon twice a day. I'll keep the milk for coffee as I can't bear to go without. I'll eat 5 corn cakes as my hex b choice and have some houmous on them as syns. I'll need to calculate how many that would be as I've forgotten.

What worked for me last time was being prepared - always having boiled eggs ready and a fridge full of vegetables including pre-packed stir fry if I was going to be busy. And I'll record everything on mfp. But most importantly, I feel determined for the first time in a couple of years and I'm hoping that will get me through the first week.

Looking forward to reading about everyone's progress and tips.

GettinTrimmer · 30/06/2022 07:19

Hi bananbak I wrote a post to you on my phone last night, but it disappeared! Welcome to the thread, and you have done well to get there last night! What you said about trauma in life resonated with me, I am prone to comfort eating, and yesterday lost the plot. Some colleagues bought me a bar of chocolate for my Birthday and I ate the lot while sitting at my desk.

You are very well planned, I am pleased you have joined us.

I have lost 1.5 stone but need to be reinvigorated, as I have stalled. But I did lost 1.5 lb on Saturday, and hoping for a maintain this week if I am lucky.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants good luck for next weigh in, hope you get on OK.

Hi All. @banabak , as my consultant would say, going through the door to a meeting is one of the hardest things, you've got this! I still have another large chunk of weight to go, but am actually a Fat WW Gold member, so it's a lifelong thing for me unfortunately. Thanks @GettinTrimmer . Consultant has decided to have a buffet today, as been consultant for 20 years! I have made and synned a banana bread, which is a quickish not too synny option IMHO. Am amazed at the last buffet where very few peeps had actually synned stuff they'd made. Question for you all.
Anybody else whose much slimmer friends aren't coping well with your big weight losses? One of my BF's, who is very slim, hasn't commented at all, and actually went away from usual present buying at Crimbo and bought me a huge box of sweets (about 120 syns total, I actually worked it out). Sabotaging, I fear, as this isn't what we buy each other at all. If so, how did you 'cope' with it? Tis very odd. Supportive friends have been the ones who've also struggled too.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 30/06/2022 14:17

So, I've put a pound on this week, after being away. I didn't go 'mad' but had some holiday treats. TBF the half pound weight loss the week before probably wasn't 'real' as had been out a few times as DM staying. DM's visits are always slightly stressful too. Anyhoo, back on it, and have restarted the body magic award too.

GettinTrimmer · 30/06/2022 18:19

SpongeBobJudgeyPants I can't say I've experienced anything other than compliments on my weight loss from friends, maybe yours is nervous of change? It is so beneficial to health I've noticed less weight on my knees, cholesterol has gone down and blood pressure last time I checked was normal.

Having said that I cannot focus this week and may avoid this week's weigh in. Start again on Sunday.

OP posts:
GettinTrimmer · 30/06/2022 18:23

1lb weight gain is not bad at all for a holiday week.

OP posts:
banabak · 30/06/2022 19:52

SpongeBob, I think it can be difficult for some people to see a friend/family member lose weight for all sorts of reasons (to do with them and not you). It's sad though that this is one of your best friends and v sabotagey of your friend to gift you lots of sweets when you're clearly trying your very best to lose weight. 1lb on after a holiday is absolutely fine, I guess getting back into your routine this week may be hard, particularly if you have holiday blues. What are you planning to eat?

I've eaten eggs and salad for lunch and roast chicken and salad for dinner with blueberries as a snack. It worked fine for the rest of my family as I added pasta for them. No snacking for me now until I eat at 11 tomorrow.

My biggest challenge is portion control and carbs/bread, so I'll be low carbing. I find bread utterly addictive and the perpetual snacking through working from home.

Hi gettintrimmer, thanks for the welcome Smile I'm glad to be here, showing up for myself and taking responsibility for my health and the way I feel about myself takes grit when it's easier to hide away and eat. I'm sorry that the traumatic event also resonates with you. My dc is/has been seriously ill and I tell myself that getting through every day with just a carb addiction isn't too bad at all (although I wish it could be an exercise addition Wink)

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 30/06/2022 20:41

Thanks folks. I'm back on it with a passion today. Went out for a meal, and despite a very difficult day, didn't have pud! Normally I would have, probably vaguely synned... @banabak I really missed the carbs in the form of bread to start with. I've got to a point where I've kind of removed them from my diet. Not saying this works for everyone, but if bread is off the agenda, I just have ryvita and occasionally nuts as HexB. I will occasionally have them on hols, but they are very occasional, rather than standard for me. So far, I've found that if it isn't HexA/B or synned, I don't want to overeat it anyway. My triggers or problem areas are they synned or otherwise counted food.

GettinTrimmer · 30/06/2022 22:09

I have really sabotaged myself again today and want to get back on track. Reading your posts has encouraged me to get some control as I'd hate to gain the weight.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 01/07/2022 10:46

@GettinTrimmer glad you're back on it. The podcasts are helpful, IMHO. Don't let the fact they can be a bit cheesy put you off!
