But.....did you have a good time??!!
Have you heard the case of roses analogy? Just because one rose dies, doesn't mean you throw away all of them!!
Yesterday...all my troubles seemed so far away... sorry got carried away there a bit yesterday has gone, draw that line and get back into it! Sometimes I find a little blowout actually helps me to focus on my eating.
But I'm weird.

troppibambini · 04/08/2019 10:45

I'm with you @dexterslockedintheshedagain a bit of a blow out helps me realise that's not what I want to be doing all the time.
@Blondeshavemorefun hope it was fun?!

What does everyone do regarding partners/husbands/kids and slimming world? Do you all cook one meal for everyone? Or do you all eat differently?

I try to do one meal but it often doesn't work out... two kids don't like saucy food, one likes noodles, three like rice.... you get the picture!!

I think I'm going to make some soup for lunch and then a roast for this evening (one of the few meals everyone eats!!)

dexterslockedintheshedagain · 04/08/2019 12:32

@troppibambini
DH eats what I give him. He's well trained!! DD, however, is a different story. She's not very adventurous. All I can seem to get her to eat is sandwiches/wraps (peanut butter or ham) nuggets, pasta with cheese (a fave of mine too) raspberries cucumber and crisps. She'll munch on a cucumber whole, and eat a packet of raspberries in one go tho, so I suppose it's not all bad. Some veg she'll eat with certain dinners like a roast, but otherwise that's it. I can't fill her up at the moment! Sometimes she'll eat my lasagne but will moan.

Afternoon, am attempting some SP days to counteract the bad day Friday.

Yesterday's brunch was sweet chilli chicken salad.

Tea was gammon, fried eggs and portobello mushrooms.

Today's brunch was a greens eggs and ham omelette with mushrooms, onions, spinach and my HEa cheese.

Tea will be Nando's style chicken with cauliflower Mexican rice and some roasted red peppers.

Tomorrow am out during the day so will have little choice over food but will make best possible choices before weigh in that evening. Aiming for a 1/2lb loss and my first certificate.

Let's keep the menu ideas coming, I find it really useful ! 😊😊😊

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/08/2019 15:16

@Dexterslockedintheshedagain indeed. And I could have been a lot worse !!!

@WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa I find the menus really help

@troppibambini df and i eat diff - he hates my lasagne tho some things we do try and compromise

Ie roast or chops and salad and he will have chips

Yes I know you can have sw chips but I rarely do

Dd eats 5 ish tho often she will have left overs. She isn’t fussy

Ofpalestsilver · 04/08/2019 18:17

@Blondeshavemorefun thank you! That might be the case. I sobbed last week when they told me they wouldn’t investigate what was going on cos I was too overweight. But at least I have a focus and I’m glad that it worked out for you.

Ofpalestsilver · 04/08/2019 18:37

Also @Blondeshavemorefun it’s okay to have a flexible syn day! We can never do it rigidly - it would be impossible! :)

My diary for today...

B: Melon, banana, strawberries & iced coffee
Snack: Seafood sticks
L: it was a bbq so I had... chicken breast in a homemade marinade of chilli, garlic, Dijon, ketchup, oil (worked out at 1.5 syns but probably fewer) and savoury Skyr yoghurt, asparagus, couscous with orange, salad with mozza (heA), courgette and tomato, 1.5 x Linda McCartney sausages (1 syn) and wholemeal roll (hEB).

It was an absolute feast but that’s BBQs for you. I didn’t realise Linda McCartney sausages were so low syn. I love them so that’s happy days for me! Strawberry muller light for dessert (0.5 syn but these are foul so I’ll never eat them again haha!)

D: I am stuffed but there are some vegbabs left over (it was a very vegan-friendly bbq!) so I might nibble on them with salad (1 syn each)

Maybe 5 syns for the day yet I stuffed myself so feeling pleased with that!

dexterslockedintheshedagain · 04/08/2019 19:03

Today

B - bran flakes & milk

L - pasta & cheese

D - roast pork with gravy (inc meat juices-criminal to waste those. 2syns-ish?) carrots, SW roasties, broccoli

But remember DDs cake pops from yesterday? They taste a little better after a night in the fridge so....3 of them for snacks (9 Syns) plus a rolo snack bar (7).

Been a funny old day. But I did go to the gym this morning (DH guilt tripped me into it 🙄)

18 Syns!! But I’m not too bothered.

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/08/2019 19:03

@ofpalestsilver. Yes it’s hard when they won’t do tests etc

You could pay private for a basic fertility health check to get the ball rolling

As df has 3 children in their 20’s I lost my nhs go. Rough but thats life

Tho I would have had to diet to start so yes cost us thousands but didn’t have the dress of losin weight iyswim

@Ofpalestsilver
I really hope things work out for you my lovely. I didn't have DD until I was 38, I'd given up hope. It wasn't me it was the useless men (up to that point) that I'd chosen. I just couldn't see them being a Dad to my child. But then I met DH and fell quite quickly. I got pregnant again at 42 but lost him (it was always a him to me) at 8wks, didn't find out til the 12wk scan. I remember the feeling as if it was yesterday. The panic (what did I do wrong?) the fear (what if I never have another one?) the grief (I don't want to carry on living any more) the jealousy if I saw another pregnant woman.
So whilst I can't imagine how you feel, I do feel for you. ThanksThanks

dexterslockedintheshedagain · 04/08/2019 19:12

And we're always here as a sounding board for you xx

Ofpalestsilver · 04/08/2019 19:14

Thanks @Dexterslockedintheshedagain I’m so glad it worked out for you. It’s stressful but actually I find the weight loss is giving me a focus now. Let’s see how I feel in 6 months though if it still hasn’t happened!!!

But thanks everyone. The support is so encouraging!

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/08/2019 19:30

@Dexterslockedintheshedagain sorry for the loss of your son

I’m also a geriatric Pmsl mum - was almost 44 when gave birth - wanted to be 32 but Mother Nature didn’t play ball !!

Youwanapizzame · 04/08/2019 20:18

Ha ha another old mum here. I have twin 3 year old if babies. I was 41 when. I has them. We had IVF in Prague!

Ofpalestsilver · 04/08/2019 20:24

I am sorry dexters. I was so caught up in myself there that I didn’t even acknowledge the loss of your son. Its so painful. I had a mc seven years ago and I know that you never stop thinking of what might have been. I hope you don’t ever think it was anything wrong with you.

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/08/2019 21:46

@Youwanapizzame awww heard good things about Prague - we did Madrid as I’m a mn and two of my clients went there and they had money lol - so if they chose there it was good enough for me

I keep forgetting to write syns. I don’t always use them. I know you should but I guess the days I’m bad counteract it

I shed to do weekly syns. Might start that up again - over all think that’s 105 syns. Sounds tons :)

OP posts:
dexterslockedintheshedagain · 04/08/2019 22:24

Pea crisps????!! Nope. Just nope. I mean, how do they even make them? Are they really small??!! 🤣🤣

dexterslockedintheshedagain · 04/08/2019 22:29

@Ofpalestsilver
I'm sorry I wasn't trying to hijack your post, I just wanted to to know you have people who care and will listen.
I have a great life, 2 dogs, lovely DH, nice house (only a terrace but it's our home) and in Nov 22 I can retire!!
But I do tell extremely bad jokes. Or so I've been told.
I made some puddings out of a SW magazine, made with rice and milk and gelatine. Pretty bland despite sweetener and vanilla extract so won't be making them again. This family does like a pudding, so will have to try something else.

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/08/2019 13:55

Pea crisps not to be eaten !! I love crisps and will have w packet a day - not these again !!

B made a breakfast quiche eggs cottage cheese onion bacon - tasted ok. Toast b butter 2 fruit

L spag Bol and veg cheese a

T not sure yet

Have salmon chicken in fridge. Or maybe salad

S crisps. Not pea lol. 5

OP posts:
troppibambini · 05/08/2019 14:12

Hmm yes pea crisps don't sound the most appetisingGrin
I like hula hoop pufts I think they are 3.5 syns for a bag.

B-skinny hazelnut latte
L-bacon, eggs, tomatoes, avocado (2) and spinach
D-paprika chicken tray bake with rice.

I need to do a food shop might nip to Aldi tonight if I can be bothered.

Ofpalestsilver · 05/08/2019 14:39

B: Shreddies (HeB) and milk (HeA), black Americano
S: Grapes
L: Remains from the BBQ - 2 x Linda McCartney sausages (1), couscous with orange, courgette shavings, tomatoes, mozza balls (HeA), grilled asparagus. Very very filling. I am definitely not as hungry I was last week.

Out for dinner tonight with a friend. Will see how good I can be.

Has anyone ever thought about using Orlistat? It came up on my GP practice app which I was surprised about. I thought it was a bit leftfield rather than NHS approved. You have to pay for it yourself though but just curious. I can start another thread elsewhere.

dexterslockedintheshedagain · 05/08/2019 15:28

I did think about using something like that (alli?) but had heard that it was pretty grim (in that you couldn't stray too far from a toilet and that what can out was, well, slimy.....
But Orlistat says not to use it if you are pregnant, so you may need to be careful. I'd also worry that it stopped any good fats being absorbed, as the body does need some fat to function
