what I don't get about the muller light syns is "why now?"

Why didn't they figure out ages ago that they were syns?

DH reckons they've pissed off Muller or something

Groovee · 17/09/2018 20:52

It's just like mugshot gate last year.

Are Iceland going to launch their own flavoured yoghurts that will be syn free?

raisedbyguineapigs · 17/09/2018 22:18

I think the sweetened quark is synned. Not sure about the savoury flavoured ones. I thought they were already synned because it has some sort of starch in it to make it stable in cooking?
Syns arent a real thing. They are just made up by SW. It was nonsense that something that contains a tablespoon of sugar on average per pot and is 100 calories was free in the first place. There has been more and more evidence that a low fat diet that is full of sugar is bad for you, so they have changed the guidelines to match. About time I'd say

Groovee · 17/09/2018 22:28

Cherrypi everyone asks that When syns are added to free foods. But I've never seen it happen yet.

Do you weigh yourself in between WI at group? I casually step on them most days, find it quite motivating. But standing on them this morning, am not convinced that I’ll have done the 3 this week that I wanted. WI for me tomorrow eve.

raisedbyguineapigs · 17/09/2018 22:58

I hid my scales this morning for the opposite reason- they are about 1 lb lighter than the sw scales, so I think I'm doing great, then I'm always disappointed because I've forgotten that they are different.
I'm reading Gillian Riley's book, because I'm so desperate to not put the weight on as soon as i get to target, but I don't think much of it applies to me. Only the bit on food addiction.

Tobermory · 17/09/2018 23:46

Guineapigs... do you think you’ll manage with no sneaky mid week weigh ins?!
I’ve tried to calculate what my weight needs to be , taking into account the difference in my scales and SW. I think about 0.4 kg. Oh and my scales are in kg... trying to convert between stones and kg fries my brain sometimes!!

raisedbyguineapigs · 18/09/2018 03:12

I don't know! I obviously know where they are, but out of sight out of mind as they say!

FoofFighter · 18/09/2018 09:39

I do weigh most mornings purely to see how much a wee and a poo weighs Grin

It doesn't put me off really in fact it shows me that most gain is water weight

ALemonyPea · 18/09/2018 13:59

Flavoured quarks have always been synned, both sweet and savoury. No idea why, it seems crazy as I don’t think there is any calorie difference.

I’m a rebel and don’t syn sweetener, it wasn’t synned when I joined so no point changing it. It’s very rare I have it anyway.

Groovee · 18/09/2018 16:10

Weigh in shortly. No idea why but I think I will have gained. Think I'm being ruled by the scales. Think I need to speak to my consultant when he's back next week.

Good luck Groovee

Cherrypi · 18/09/2018 19:31

One off. It’s been a while since I had a loss so happy with that. I’m sure lindahl’s flavoured quark used to be free and now it’s 0.5. Will definitely be buying less flavoured yoghurt now and will stick to plain and add berries or vanilla essence.

Groovee · 18/09/2018 20:38

Lost half a pound. That's 26 weeks at 🎯. Quite proud of that x

Well done losers.

Groovee, you’ve done so well. You’ll be a shiny diamond member next year.

FoofFighter · 18/09/2018 21:38

Fantastic groovee ThanksStarStarStarHalo

My flavoured quark from Lidl was free

Groovee · 18/09/2018 22:00

Thank you. It's so hard to stay in target. Hopefully it's now a way of life. Roll on my new shiney on a new optimising book!

OwlinaTree · 18/09/2018 22:10

Lost 1lb tonight. Need to lose 1 more to get back in target range, but would like to lose 4 to get to target again before my birthday.

Tobermory · 18/09/2018 22:53

2 off for me this week.
I’m a bit disappointed that it’s not 3. But maybe 2 is a more realistic number.

Groovee · 19/09/2018 07:00

Well done Owlina.

Well done Tobermory.

PositiveAttitude · 19/09/2018 07:44

Well done everyone - some good losses this week.

Tobermory 2lb a week is very good so dont beat yourself up.

I lost 1lb last night which I am pleased about. I do weigh myself at home as well and on my scales I am down to my lowest weight again first thing in the morning, so that is encouraging me.

I like the Quvark vanilla, peach and raspberry flavours which have gone awol from the app, so I think they are going to be synned. My consultant last night was saying that many people were having ridiculous numbers of muller lights and then not losing weight! Doh!!! Any "free" foods eaten excessively will stop you losing weight. I know we dont deal in calories but in the simplest terms the calories mount up whether they are "free" or not.
I dont like the spaghetti tins, and never have them but someone in our group had been using them as a snack because they were free and not having them as part of their meal, so in my mind it was like an extra meal each day - so of course that wont work for weight loss.

I think the odd muller or quvark wont have a big negative impact on weightloss, even if it means you may occasionally have 16 syns, so I am going to carry on as I have been doing. I think this is all to stop the abuse of "free" food. or have I been brainwashed by slimming world?

sunshineNdaisies · 19/09/2018 08:39

I think SW are going to change their plan completely to remove the word 'free' altogether

I like MLs but I only eat like 2 a week though

Don't weigh in til Sundays. I really want to get to that 1 stone loss mark. Just 1lb to go.

raisedbyguineapigs · 19/09/2018 09:16

To be honest I thought a lot of the stuff I'd heard about people eating mountains of 'free' food on SW was a myth, because my consultant always reinforces the 1/3 speed and the 'eat until you are saisfied' mantra, but I recently joined some other sw Facebook groups and the volume of food some people eat is astonishing! How someone can eat 5 boiled eggs in one go for example is beyond me. And the 'treat plates' are mind boggling. They aren't changing their eating habits at all, so chances are, they will stop losing with a stone or two to go, leave and put the weight back on. I have just over a stone to go and have had to severely restrict my portion sizes and carb intake to even make a dent on the scales. SW use the 'unlimited free food' mantra to sell their diet then are surprised when there is a backlash from people who eat 5 muller lights in a day! They need to explain the plan more clearly.
