(I mean that in addition to the reasons you've already suggested, not instead of)

OwlinaTree · 09/09/2017 12:31

Wedding buffet you have two options imho.

1.Eat a big sw friendly meal before you leave and have no buffet.

2.Eat fairly light all day then have one plateful of buffet food. Eat slowly and enjoy!

It's up to you which option you want. Enjoy the evening, life is for living as well as slimming!

Trills · 09/09/2017 13:21

Life is indeed for living!

Trills · 09/09/2017 13:24

The "evening do" starts at 5 and is over an hour's journey away so I will definitely want to eat something there. I'll just try to avoid obviously fried things.

Groovee · 09/09/2017 14:41

I would try to fill up on a good hearty meal. Drink what you like and see how you feel about the buffet.

I have an all day wedding in 2 weeks and worrying about that!

ALemonyPea · 09/09/2017 14:52

Very valid point Tabulah. When I did WW at least half of my points a day would go on crisps, then I'd be starving by the end of the day and go over my points. I managed to lose here and there, but always felt hungry and hard done by.

Might be a bit late now, but Trills, if you have something substantial before you go, and just get a few nice things off the buffet, that's what I'd do. Unlike the christening I went to a few weeks ago where everything was covered in pastry and breadcrumbs so had no option but to enjoy it all.

tabulahrasa · 09/09/2017 17:49

I lost weight fine with WW, but I was starving, lived off tiny amounts of chocolate with the odd meal and found it made me obsessive about food as I had to constantly work out how many points I had left every time I ate something I hadn't planned to.

It felt all kinds of wrong to have to change your dinner plans because you had a handful of grapes mid afternoon Hmm I hated it.

I got to my target weight, just couldn't face living like that forever.

Groovee · 09/09/2017 17:58

I can't make up my mind... should I make baked oats with fruit for syns. Or use a HEB wrap to make a turnover, fruity one with syns?

ALemonyPea · 09/09/2017 18:17

Ooooo a turnover sounds amazing!

Groovee · 09/09/2017 18:36

I went for baked oats as I would have had to stew the apples first and I am tired lol. But may make some tomorrow.

OwlinaTree · 09/09/2017 19:24

tabula I feel I had a similar experience with ww, I got to target but it was so hard to maintain and I was using points on all the wrong things (booze mainly). I used to get really hungry so when I did relax a bit at the weekend I'd end up binging basically. Not healthy at all.

SW works better for me because it doesn't matter how much or little healthy stuff I eat, my alcohol and chocolate is limited to exactly the same amount! So no reason to try to eat nothing all day so I can have a bottle of wine or a big pudding. I feel I'm much more controlled when I do go off plan now. Mind, now I've got two young children I don't get much chance to go out!!

OwlinaTree · 09/09/2017 19:25

That does make me sound like an alcoholic, but it was more trying to save points to drink at the weekend, nor a bottle of wine a night!!

Hairq · 09/09/2017 22:21

Re: people complaining about mullet lights and mugshots etc, I tend to stick to only about 3 yoghurts a week, and the super noodles/mugshots/pasta n sauce options are brilliant when you've only got a tiny amount of time to make lunch or if you feel like crap (e.g. awful PMT or period pains) and want to comfort eat crap. On those days maybe twice a month I'll switch to the old 'green' plan so i can have double cheese, double hexb, and eat something crap filled like the low fat supernoodles for lunch safe in the knowledge that I'm still on plan. I couldn't eat that processed stuff regularly, but I like that there is a place for it if I need it. (Can't be just me that craves junk when they're ill or periody can it??)

But yeah, the focus is on making your own food with fresh ingredients and loads of fruit and veg isn't it? And I much prefer doing that 95% of the time.

MynewnameisKy · 09/09/2017 22:25

For those of you eating Muller Lights you really ought to try Asda fat free Greek yogurt and add your own slices of strawberry or other fruit. It's extremely Moreish.

christmasunicorn · 10/09/2017 07:45

I like muller lights and mugshots Blush I have one of each most days. Is that awful then? I eat loads of speed with them as well. I do like salads but having one everyday for lunch really makes you feel like your on a diet and that just brings resentment. I like slimming world because I'm on a diet but it doesn't feel like a diet iykwim.
Either way I'm sure all diets get a bashing at some time. When I did Atkins, slim fast or vlcd I got loads of the unhealthy/unsustainable comments. Everyone I speak to about slimming world are only ever positive about it.

Anyway, I've kinda lost my way a bit of the last few days and have exceeded my syns allowance 3 times out of the last 4 days. Only only by half a syn, the other two but about 7. So really need to reign it in before weigh in Tuesday. AF is also due on Tuesday which I'm sure is the reason my motivation is slacking right now. How do other people cope around that time?

SheStoodInTheStorm · 10/09/2017 08:02

Hello all! I rejoined SW again last week. I do mostly ok until it comes to chocolate and then I am like a woman possessed. I really need to shift some weight but I can't stop the crap.

It's not as simple as 'don't have it in the house' with a DH and DC in the house.

I've done it before and lost 3st so I know it works, I just need to really stick to it. It's the sugar that gets me Sad

lauryloo · 10/09/2017 10:14

I'm so off plan this week! I need a swift kick in the arse to get back to it

I do this every time I join. Lose between 7-10lb and lose focus

Groovee · 10/09/2017 16:51

Cooking a roast dinner. I'm knackered post Burlesque class as there's one on a Sunday.

Laury meal plan. I find that keeps me on track x

emwithme · 10/09/2017 19:07

I have spent this afternoon doing meal prep.

I've got a week's worth of eggy muffins in tupperwares (so I just grab one at "oh fuck it's early o'clock"), a week's worth of soups in tupperwares (so at slightly later than oh fuck it's early o'clock I can pack my lunch bag without thinking too hard), and have made (and eaten) a giant lasagne the leftovers of which will do DH (who is working 12 hour nightshifts until Wednesday morning) for a meal once he's woken up at 4 pm.

Trills · 10/09/2017 19:22

Good planning!

I've spent most of today hungover. Food has been on the carbier side of on-plan but no junk.

I've cooked a ham in my slow cooker and made a big batch of coleslaw.

What recipe do you use for eggy muffins?

Groovee · 10/09/2017 19:39

Had my first "don't you think you've lost enough weight?" Today! I still feel I'm on a journey. Oh and apparently it's time for me to stop going to class 🙄.

Wasn't even someone close but someone who crashed my Costa date with dh!

Groovee · 10/09/2017 19:40

I do 4 large eggs, whisk with salt and pepper. Pop anything I want into a silicon muffin tray. Then top with the egg and bake for 20 minutes on 170z

Trills · 10/09/2017 20:01

What is the "anything I want" this week?

Groovee · 10/09/2017 20:12

Whatever I have in the fridge so ham, spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes, spring onions.

Trills · 10/09/2017 20:14

Sounds great :)
