Hi CaptWentworth!

Got organised today, froze 4 lots of veggie food- pasta sauce and chilli. Going to get a job lot of curry or similar tomorrow. Hoping it'll help me stay on plan on really busy nights in the next few weeks.

FoofFighter · 31/08/2017 18:40

Hello to newbies :) good luck, any questions please ask, no such thing as a silly question I'll have already asked it myself!!

Some good losses this week on the thread, well done all Star

Today's grub:

B, 2 boiled eggs, banana, a bit of an organe that got thrown as it was nasty :(

L half my hexb chia seeds 15g in greek style 0% natural yogurt with a chopped apple

T chicken, mushroom, pepper, onion stirfried in oyster sauce (free) with actifry chips

Still got hexa to have, probably have feta on 2 ryvita (other half heb) with pickles

CaptWentworth · 31/08/2017 19:05

Hi everyone. Do you do actifry chips the same way you do the SW oven chips FooFighter?

I've been batch cooking too, lots of soups. Made chilli last night too, but ate the remaining portion with lunch today Blush It is free....

Stir fry tonight. I'm thinking I might have to syn some oil, not sure a stir fry in a tiny spray of oil will work?

OwlinaTree · 31/08/2017 19:16

Hi new folk! Capt I started when breastfeeding and had good losses even with the extras, so don't worry. Still enjoying one extra hexa as baby is still feeding morning and night at 12 and a half months.

SkeletonSkins · 31/08/2017 19:23

Hi all, not been on here for a week or so. Mixed week - did have one really naughty takeaway but mostly on plan otherwise. I've lost half a pound which takes me to 4lb in three weeks. Not great but better than anything else I've done as I have PCOS and weight loss seems constantly slow.

I'm back to work next week so hoping it'll be much easier to stick to plan when I'm not at home all day.

CaptWentworth · 31/08/2017 19:32

Skeleton I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 19 (more than 10 years ago). The only thing I had success with at the time was a low carb diet, the weight fell off me where everything else failed. I've been in remission for years since then, and now don't have any problems, bloods normal at last check.

Gorgosparta · 31/08/2017 19:35

I have pcos and have much more success doing the SP plan. Either every day or throw some SP days in each week.

SkeletonSkins · 31/08/2017 23:19

I couldn't do a completely low carb diet as I'd literally rather not eat but defo going to pick up the number of SP days I'm including! To be fair I don't have loads to lose, prob about a stone and it is coming off slowly so I'm pleased with that. Sp days might speed things up though so they're defo on the agenda once I'm back to work.

OwlinaTree · 01/09/2017 07:14

I don't do sp as I like eating the same meal as my dh in the evening, but I often have a sp breakfast and lunch, having hexb as part of breakfast. Even that helps I find.

BasinHaircut · 01/09/2017 08:59

Hi all just checking in. skeleton I'm the same as you, I just loves my carbs! I keep saying I'm going to do an SP day but have never managed it.

A loss is a loss however small and when you don't have much to lose it comes off slower so don't be disheartened with small losses, it doesn't mean you could or should be doing better. Just keep doing what you are doing.

Good week here so far. It's officially September now so my 'completely on plan' month starts here. I've been well off plan at weekends recently but I'm going to try my hardest to be good this week. Although I've just been invited over to someone's house for Sunday lunch which I wasn't planning on!

ibuiltahomeforyou · 01/09/2017 10:28

@CaptWentworth I'm breastfeeding too and the weight is melting away, I don't count my hexAs to be honest, I just have milk on cereal, glasses of milk and grated cheese on things. I lost 12lbs in August alone (1st 11 in 11 weeks so far). I don't have masses to lose but I think the extra calcium does boost losses. Plus obviously the calories!

Even on my off-plan weeks I've always lost, I think the breastfeeding protects your losses! Good luck!

CaptWentworth · 01/09/2017 10:32

Well done ibuiltahomeforyou, that's a great loss! Good to hear your experience. I'm feeding a 17lb boob monster (10lb at birth), so before SW I was constantly starving and ate loads of junk. Never really got out of the 'I'll eat what I damn well please' pregnancy phase!

UnwiseOldElf · 01/09/2017 12:13

I didn't post after weigh-in this week, as I've gained and it was a complete shock. I know I've stuck 100% to the plan - I've been doing my food diaries. Only problem is I'm on long-term pain medication which has made me VERY constipated Blush so I think it must be that. Been to the GP for some industrial strength help (!) and so hopefully all will be back to normal soon.

Ugh. Surprised by how much it's got to me though - the whole "sod it" mentality (which I am resisting) - tempting to just throw in the towel, but I won't. Onwards!

SkeletonSkins · 01/09/2017 12:29

That's the thing Owl and Basin, I know if I go low carb I'll just give up as I'm not eating anything I enjoy eating. At least this way I'm eating better and it is coming off slowly!

B1rdonawire · 01/09/2017 13:01

Commiserations oldelf - it's rotten when you've been entirely virtuous and don't get the "reward". Hope things, ahem, move in the right direction very soon! I didn't lose (or gain) this week, but had 2 weeks of biggish losses for me, so am hanging in there telling myself it all evens out in the end but it had better sort itself out next week

Groovee · 01/09/2017 13:05

The same happened to me @UnwiseOldElf in June. Was really good but gained. Went back the next week and lost 3.5lb.

OwlinaTree · 01/09/2017 16:19

oldelf there's nothing worse than an undeserved gain, it's really rubbish. Stick with it this week, I'm sure next week you'll do really well.

FoofFighter · 01/09/2017 17:44

Feeling like I want to eat everything naughty today.

Anyway food so far: (probbly not enough but am really struggling to eat good stuff today!)

B half hexb chia seeds, ff yogurt, chopped apple

L baked potato (1) beans and salad

T - had planned a roasted butternut squash and sage risotto but i've no flipping arborio rice. I have orzo or pearl barley and have spent too long thinking about which to use instead that I've gone off the idea now.

BasinHaircut · 01/09/2017 17:48

EMERGENCY!!!!!!!

Forgot I'm at a fried s tonight and the 'oh we'll get a takeaway' thing has just Brenna thrown up. Another friend who is going is also on SW so hopefully she will be on my page re getting either Chinese or Indian and avoiding the chippy or pizza but can I have some ideas please, I don't have my book with me.

Chinese I'm thinking boiled noodles or rice with chicken in black bean (can someone tell me how many syns that would be please?) or Indian a chicken biriyani a which comes with a veg curry right? (how many syns?)

Other suggestions also welcome!! I don't do well without some sort of sauce Grin

OP posts:
CaptWentworth · 01/09/2017 18:09

According to the handbook, chicken and black bean is 7.5 syns. The lowest syn meal in the book is chicken in oyster sauce, 6.5 syns. Biryanis are 18+ syns Shock Best Indian is tandoori chicken 9.5 syns or chickpea dhal 5 syns.

christmasunicorn · 01/09/2017 18:11

Ooo I'm having a takeaway next week and was going to go for chippie but that's because our local does grilled fish with a side salad as well as the fried and bartered stuff. So don't rule it out.
I've been so good today but I've had no hexb and no syns. Do I have to have them? I don't think I've had enough hexa either yet. Do you have to have the full lot?

christmasunicorn · 01/09/2017 18:13

Battered not bartered obviously.

PositiveAttitude · 01/09/2017 18:40

Oldelf don't been downhearted. It is really frustrating when you are on plan, don't give in to temptation but gain! Been there, done that!! My sister was telling me about a lady in her group who lost 10lb last week after having the same problem as you have!!!! She had industrial strength remover and lost all the 10lb in one go!!! (well, I am not sure it was one go, but one weigh in!! Grin )

No comfort eating here. I have been able to stick to plan, although, as I have said before stress seems to stop any weight loss at all. I just hope it doesn't go on too long.

Have a good weekend everyone.

ALemonyPea · 01/09/2017 21:12

Well done on the losses everyone and welcome newbies.

I have PCOS, and found reducing my carbs right down really helped. SP days don't really make a difference in my loss. I only have carbs once a day (and my HEB) and only a small amount, but substantial enough that I don't feel I'm missing out.

Really struggling staying in plan with no kitchen. I've managed to lose 3 of the crazy holiday gain, but I'll probably not lose the rest any time soon. Luckily I now have a functioning kitchen, so I can at least cook some SW friendly meals.

Had a giant Costco muffin today as I'm so stressed. Too much upheaval and feel I've not had a rest since getting back from my holiday.

Riversleep · 01/09/2017 22:42

Hi Ive just started today too. I didnt have enough stuff in today as Ijust got my book last night, so I had bacon and eggs for breakfast, a jacket potato with chick pea curry for lunch and salmon and stir fried veg for dinner. I seem to be OK on the main free stuff, but i dont like cereal or bread really, so I havent had any hexb. I put down that I was going to have almond milk for my hexa too, but didnt drink all of it. Do I need to include all the bits? I was thinking I might have to buy some crispbreads, which I do like and have cheese triangles to do the hextra's! Also, can I have coconut milk in a carton, do you think?
