That steps tracker on the iPhone is crazy eye opening! I am literally in the house all week (apart from part-time job) as it's summer holidays and I was on 77 steps Shock went out with my mum, literally to a supermarket and 1 other place. Done almost a 3000 steps. It really does make a difference to be out. I never thought school was that active, but it must have been!

NeverEnoughSleep1 · 16/07/2017 08:04

Thanks Foo think I'm going to make use on my days off this week and do loads of batch cooking for the freezer, anyone have any good tips on recipes that freeze well?

Groovee · 16/07/2017 08:16

I've done an asda click and collect shop. Am waiting on DH getting my meds so I can eat. Am starving. I'm just hoping no one ate the melon last night 😂

Turquoise your obsession with the scales is not good. You are best weighing in once a week. Chuck the scales in the bin. Even if you do loose half a pound that's 10.5lbs over two weeks. That's amazing.

FoofFighter · 16/07/2017 09:17

I think we are better to look at monthly total losses but realise that sw is a business and that wouldn't be profitable for them which is totally fair enough.

ibuiltahomeforyou · 16/07/2017 10:15

Turquoise, since I have re-started, I have made a big decision not to weigh in between classes. It's SO tempting, but I tell myself measuring something does not make it happen! If I get tempted I force myself away.

I find my consultant tries to push me to pledge to lose more than I'm comfortable with. I said I was aiming for a pound this week and she tried to get me to go for 2.5lbs instead, which I'd lost the week before! I know my body and 2.5lbs is more than I'd usually lose so I'd rather consolidate that than try to force myself to go further.

I couldn't work out why I was so uncomfortable with being pushed but it's because of the focus on the scales rather than the whole process. I really want to make long-term changes rather than getting into the habit of skipping breakfast pre-weigh in or not drinking enough water on weigh day, both of which I've done in the past when I've got obsessed with the scales. I do think that is peculiar to Slimming World as you're measured each week on your loss rather than at Weight Watchers where it's an inspirational chat.

OwlinaTree · 16/07/2017 10:33

ibuilt I agree. I know I've got the potential to get too obsessed, that's why I won't calorie count and weigh every day. It works for some I know, but not right for me.

I'm trying to do sw as a 'this is how to eat for life'. It's hard at times, but generally I feel it works for me as if I'm hungry I can eat more and if I'm not I eat less. There's no saving all your calories for booze like I used to do with ww!

I don't like the how much will you lose this week thing in class but I like it when people can say 'well I've got a wedding this weekend so I'll be pleased with a sts' as it's recognising that life goes on and that there will be events when food is a feature and is ok to indulge. I'm glad there's a chance to acknowledge that.

latedecember1963 · 16/07/2017 11:02

As others have said, step away from your scales, Turquoise! I lost 5.5 lbs in my 1st week and STS the 2nd week. It wasn't because I wasn't trying, it's just how it goes sometimes our bodies being peculiar things. Don't let yourself get too pressured. SW is a long-term process not a quick fix.
Groovee, glad to hear you are home and doing ok. Hope you're being well looked after.💐
I've worked hard on having a normal week since Monday's WI whereas in years gone by I'd have been on holiday mode food wise for a week before I'd set foot in the airport.
About to go and pack, including some new clothes and some "old friends" that I haven't worn for the last 2 or3 holidays 😁
Not taking my laptop and my ancient phone can't get the internet but I'll be back to catch up with all your news in a couple of weeks. X

OwlinaTree · 16/07/2017 11:21

Have a fab holiday late!

Groovee · 16/07/2017 11:24

I don't like the, what you going for next week either in class. I said a maintain as I knew I was having surgery.

I want a huge slice of cake with butter icing. But it needs to be freshly made. I can keep dreaming lol.

I'm still in bed as I am in pain. Really want a shower.

Groovee · 16/07/2017 11:24

Enjoy your holiday Late x

ALemonyPea · 16/07/2017 11:27

Have a lovely holiday Late

Turquoise, 10lb is a phenomenal loss for your first week, you might not have great losses like that every week, but as long as you're on plan you will lose and it will show.

For your own mental health, put the scales away, try to weigh yourself once a day at the same time if you must. For me, I weigh when I get up in the morning.

TurquoiseOwl · 16/07/2017 12:10

Thanks everyone, you're all very nice!

@latedecember1963 - have a great time!

here we go yet again... Angry

why is it never WW that gets slagged off ffs

boils my piss.

ALemonyPea · 16/07/2017 18:29

Wow, we almost made it through the week before having a SW bashing thread.

I suspect WW doesn't get bashed because everything is pointed, no unlimited carbs. It doesn't promote eating fruit and veg though, just using your points. I did WW and used my points to binge on crisps and biscuits.

Groovee · 16/07/2017 18:43

Another thread where the OP knows nothing. I suspect there is no friend especially with the red/green days crap!

Tigger83 · 16/07/2017 19:50

Hi all just to let you know back on track after my lovely afternoon tea! Made the chicken Kiev for dinner tonight... yummy! Diet Coke chicken made for the week for lunches and wedding dress appointment made for 11 August!

FoofFighter · 16/07/2017 20:19

exciting times Tigger, do you have in mind what style youd like?

TurquoiseOwl · 16/07/2017 21:32

I get weighed tomorrow morning Sad

Groovee · 16/07/2017 21:40

Good luck Tigger with the fittings.

Turquoise just get weighed. If you haven't lost then you still have lost a lot more in 2 weeks than many people have. If you lose it's a bonus x

FoofFighter · 16/07/2017 22:41

You lost more in a week than I did in my first 4 weeks turquoise, good luck and don't stress it .

Long haul remember!

ibuiltahomeforyou · 16/07/2017 22:59

Was just totting up this weeks' syns, I've already had over 130 and I still have a whole day to go Blush

I can't remember doing a food diary last time I did SW (five years ago) so hopefully this week encourage me to stay on track.

I'm going to go shopping tomorrow for new food scales as mine have conked out excessive weighing of cake ingredients

TurquoiseOwl · 16/07/2017 23:58

Thank you Smile

TurquoiseOwl · 17/07/2017 00:14

I actually think I haven't been that good this week now I look at it. I have been having dinners that have barely any speed and I have felt very full after. That's definitely a mistake, as you are full up on the wrong foods. The foods are still free, but not with speed, so you eat more.

Today I have had an amazing day (as in, a perfect on plan day) and I have dropped a lot of weight even since yesterday (not really a lot but for a day quite a bit).

I'm guessing that was definitely my mistake this week, but at least I know what to do next week. Also, I do think I'm going to lose at least 1/2 a pound now, so I'm happy with that.

Sorry, I bet my posts are very annoying! Blush

I just got in from work and am in such a nice, hot bath completely irrelevant Wink

Tigger83 · 17/07/2017 06:45

I'm thinking a line with some lace but keeping an open mind. We also have an engagement photo shoot with our photographer at the end of sept so even more motivation!! I want to shift as much as I can first trimester.

Groovee · 17/07/2017 07:50

Morning all.

Just had some all bran soaked in yoghurt while I made the stock for soup. With melon strawberry and nectarine. Only had half a HEB so must have the other half later.

Got veggie broth in the slow cooker for lunch.

Plan to get Dd to make paprika pork Jambalaya for tea.

My pain has increased and a bit of reading suggests this is the healing process from the burning. Hoping it's not too painful.

Staying in bed as much as I can and used frozen veg for the stock x
