It's my first SW 'star week' Grin I weigh in tomorrow - I'm not expecting anything amazing as I don't think I've had a day where I followed SW Shock I have been doing calories and I know that's never good. I must get out of that, as although I do lose, it's not really a lifestyle change (I tend to have 2 small, really bad for you things). I am hoping for my stone and a half award though (only need to lose a pound) as that will be 1 st 7 lbs in 5 weeks, which I'm very happy with. I'll also be super happy to be in the single digits of the 18s.

I would never have stuck to this without having weigh in. My dad is starting his 'diet' Confused he always says this (just like my mum and I did!) and he just won't do it without coming to group - I know some people can, but definitely not in my family! He refuses to though Hmm

Lemony We went to a specialist occasionwear shop that does plus size and made-to-measure outfits. Where does a fattie get something gorgeous from?

Any suggestions welcome

OwlinaTree · 07/08/2017 07:35

Great post em. I really identify with the binging when off plan thing. I did ww a few years ago and got to 8st 6. I stopped going to class but I couldn't maintain it. I ended up eating less than 1000 cals on the week days and doing loads of gym work, then when it got to the weekend I'd just go mad on eating everything. There was other stuff going on as well, but I do feel I was bordering on an eating disorder.

I'm determined not to get into that place with sw, and I do feel the eating unlimited and not calorie counting is really helping me with that. I can have big salad with loads of protein, unlimited fruit etc. Similar to you em, I lose 1lb on average a week, only been sotw once, but I'm fine with it.

My only issue is when I'm going to stop. I've decided to see how I get on, I want to make sure whatever target weight I choose is maintainable, while still having fun, but not get into this starve/binge cycle. That's why I won't set a target yet, as I don't want to be just striving for something unobtainable all the time.

elfofftheshelf · 07/08/2017 08:59

Thanks for the comments and pointers and thank you em for sharing your story. It's so easy just to give up after the first gain. Yesterday wasn't a great day, I ate way too much cheese!

I follow plan 100% in the week, and even try to "save" 4 or 5 syns on 3 or 4 days (as suggested by group leader) for weekends or special occasions; let's see if any of the good and bad efforts have made a difference at WI tomorrow.

Happy Monday everyone - I'm working through my meal planner!

emwithme · 07/08/2017 09:07

Back to work today, so yesterday I was a batch-cooking DEMON. I made eggy muffins, soup, and a giant curry for dinner tonight (and then leftovers for the freezer).

Today's food:

B: Breakfast muffins, melon
L: Leek & potato soup, apple, pear, yoghurt
D: Chicken curry, rice (with spinach and mushrooms on the side because DH doesn't like either so I couldn't put them in the curry itself!)
HEA: Milk
HEB: Hifi bars

FoofFighter · 07/08/2017 09:45

Sounds good Em :)

B: sw quiche with curry rice, peppers, onions and mushrooms in it - couple slices ham, sliced apple (weird I know but needs eating!)

L Out at a theme park for the day, I have taken more quiche....
a ham salad wrap (heb) and fruit

T made a pasta bake last night with half jar sauce and half homemade (visitors preference) so my portion will be 3.5syns with HEXA cheese on top.

NeverEnoughSleep1 · 07/08/2017 11:23

Off to catch up with the thread I've had a manic week wth work and events and had about 3 days off plan but I'm back completely on it today, I've meal planned and doing a shopping list to prep for a busy week ahead

TurquoiseOwl · 07/08/2017 11:36

I'm so happy Smile I got slimmer of the week and month last week, but wasn't at group, so got it this week and lost 2.5 lbs, so got my stone and a half! 1 st 8.5 lbs down in 5 weeks!

(I only upload pictures, so when I look back it's easy for me to spot Grin)

Back to work didn't work out (there were tears). I am now at home on the sofa with a cat and a cuppa. Oh well. At least I have food planned.

BasinHaircut · 07/08/2017 13:52

Well done turquoise!

Oh em take some time love, I can't even imagine.

Well I've just arrived at my breast screening appointment. Am a bit nervous but telling myself it's all fine! Leaflet says the appointment could last up to 5 hours so I'm relying on you lot for entertainment!

The weekend was not good food-wise and I grabbed McDonalds for lunch today as I have been rushing around sorting DS and getting straight for the week.

Good luck Basin.

I was away this weekend with zero control over my food. Also drank a lot.

A gammon joint is in the slow-cooker and I need to do an online shop.

Any suggestions of nice things that I would like to order?

NeverEnoughSleep1 · 07/08/2017 14:48

Some great loses on here well done everyone Flowers

Good luck basin I'm sure everything will be fine

I've just made these nacho style wedges off the SW website and they were so good and didn't feel like I was being "good" but packed with plenty of speed and I had a side salad too

em Flowers take care, give yourself some time off, it's early days
Good luck basin 5 hours!! Keep chatting to us! I'm guessing it taking that long will mean you get some answers today?!Flowers

Trills · 07/08/2017 15:04

Those nachos look great - I might have a go at them with sweet potatoes as the base. link if anyone else wants to have a look

BasinHaircut · 07/08/2017 15:04

Thanks guys!

I've seen the consultant and he can't feel anything. Waiting for an ultrasound now just to double check. He said I'll leave here today confident that there is nothing to worry about. I don't think I'll be here 5 hours, I think that is worst case (if you need mammograms and biopsies etc), hopefully I won't need those.

never did you use that cheese in a tube? I've bought some but I can't bring myself to use it. Does it taste like cheese?

OP posts:
Trills · 07/08/2017 15:08

You could use any hexa cheese - half a ball of low-fat mozzarella would be nice and stretchy.

NeverEnoughSleep1 · 07/08/2017 15:13

Yes basin I used the tube it was okay it gave me my cheese fix but never time i would use something different

LavenderRains · 07/08/2017 15:38

Those nachos look lovely. I think sweet potato ones will be yummy.
Good news so far basin
Rubbish weather here again today, you wouldn't think it was august! Makes you want stodgy pudsGrin

BasinHaircut · 07/08/2017 16:01

Ultrasound lady said all clear. Just waiting to see the consultant again then I imagine I'm done. What a bloody relief!

Trills · 07/08/2017 16:12

Woop, that's good news.

And considerably less than 5 hours.

Groovee · 07/08/2017 18:28

Great news Basin.

Well done Turquoise.

Never I love nacho Style Feast. I find squeezing the primula cheese hard as my fibromyalgia affects my hands.

Nearly forgot about Ds's orthodontist appointment 🙈 Ds's godmother text me something and it reminded me. Race to get out. Then we popped in on Dd's godmother and had a lovely SW lunch. She's a target member so it was good.

Am tired now. Dd has her exam results tomorrow. Nerves are setting in.

ALemonyPea · 07/08/2017 19:09

Em 💐 Take care of yourself.

Basin, great news 🎉

I've been busy all day packing up my kitchen. Finally completing on my mortgage next week, kitchen getting started while we are on holiday woohoo.

Boatsnack · 07/08/2017 21:21

Awww Em that made me cry, look after yourself nightshift makes me emotional

Basin that's fab news

We'll done turqouise

I decided to run to weigh in tonight, it's only about half an hour but up and down some killer hills. The scales showed an amazing 5.5lb loss but I'd imagine some of it was water loss from the run. Had a curry for tea with a jar of sauce that had been lurking in the cupboard from pre sw days it was all right but not worth the syns 😣

latedecember1963 · 07/08/2017 21:43

Hello everyone, having a catch-up read. Good to read your news, Basin, I bet it's seemed a long week!
Some good losses and good advice as always. Like others have said, I'm thinking in 1/2 stone batches and I also have an event in mind as double motivation. For me, it's not just about the weight loss, but also about the changes in habits.
Em, I enjoyed your post about your SW experience. Hope you are able to take the time you need to come to terms with your mc. I know from experience that no 2 mcs feel the same and sometimes you need longer than you'd anticipated before resuming normal things like going back to work again.
