Welcome Green x

LavenderRainbows · 02/06/2017 22:18

groovee ice cream has goneBlush feeling a bit sick but glad it's doneGrin loving the swimsuits, where are they from? I tried on a lovely size 14 Joe brown one but the body was too short. I don't feel confident enough for bikini pants so may try tankini with big pantsGrin Last year I had a size 22 skirted swimsuit so anything is better than that I guess!

Groovester · 02/06/2017 22:23

lavender my meals have been good the last 2 days but I've also snacked on ALL THE THINGS. Think I will have to eat melon for rest of week to claw it back. I've truly been atrocious. Cest la vie! Back on it in the morning...

LavenderRainbows · 02/06/2017 22:46

groovester must be something in the air!Grin
Here's to🍉🍉🍉 next week.

FaithAgain · 02/06/2017 22:48

Hello all, welcome green. Seems I fell off the thread around the time a new one started!

I lost 1lb this week (not sure how, I ate all the syns!). Only 3 1/2 from target now. Been more focused since WI on Wednesday. My lovely colleague left to go to a new job today. She bought me GF goodies (I don't eat wheat) and I checked the syns before I ate. I have indulged in a gin since I got home but small measure with slim line tonic.

Welcome to Green.

LavenderRainbows · 02/06/2017 22:50

Thanks groovee will take a look

Greenteandchives · 02/06/2017 23:01

Thanks all for the kind words. You are just as lovely as the people at my group. And yes I stay for the meetings and clap people's efforts. Sad I will probably never get slimmer of the week, but they are all lovely.

didireallysaythat · 02/06/2017 23:15

Quick question - if a meeting starts at 5:30 and the next one is 7:30, will I miss anything if I can't get there until 6 ? And will it all be done with by 7 ?

I'm not usually home by 5:30 (ok, I'm never home by then) and I'll have to wait for DH to get home to look after DS but I need to leave the house (preferably having had supper) by 7:30.

Do you think this would work ? It's the only meeting within 15 miles that is ok time wise (other than the wake mtg).

OwlinaTree · 03/06/2017 07:05

My meeting starts at 5.30, but she stops weighing at 6 unless the queue is still there. So if you arrive after 6 and the talk has started you can stay but she won't weigh you until the end.

Groovee · 03/06/2017 07:10

Our weighing stops at 6 unless there is still a queue.

FaithAgain · 03/06/2017 08:09

Each group varies depending on the consultant but our weigh in ends a half hour after the session so image therapy can start. Our consultant will weigh people that come in part way through image therapy after the session. Also she starts explaining the plan to new member from about 5.40 so you'd need to be there on the earlier side for the first time.

Callendargirl1969 · 03/06/2017 10:07

Hi all
I have just rejoined a new slimming world group after a few months and I am a bit confused!
My new consultant is insistent that "speed" food should be eaten separately as a 1/3 portion where as I have always just incorporated my speed veg into the dish (for example a spag bol) and eaten it as an "all in one" kind of meal. Cooked a meal last night with a ton of speed veg in it and was told it doesn't count as it didn't visibly make up 1/3 of the plate?? I can't see how it makes any difference? It makes as much sense to me as the whole mashed banana debacle! How can a mashed banana be syns when it mashes itself in your mouth? These kind of rules just make no sense to me. Am I alone in this? My previous consultant was more than happy to let you incorporate speed veg into a dish and actively encouraged it. Just wondering if she has taken it a bit far this speed food thing? Confused

Callendargirl1969 · 03/06/2017 10:10

Sorry if I've posted this in the wrong place, I can't figure out how to post a new thread on my phone. Confused

didireallysaythat · 03/06/2017 10:27

Thanks for the tips on classes. I guess I'll wait until the summer holidays are here and then try and get there on a day I have to take off to look after the kids.

Next question: tinned fruit - good or bad ?

LavenderRainbows · 03/06/2017 10:40

callendergirl I've always incorporated speed veg within a meal, surely that's what everyone does?! I have speed fruit separately but that's because I have it as a snack or pudding.
And the mashed thing is to stop you eating too much! It's rubbish really. I've mashed the odd banana and manged to lose 4 stoneGrin
didi tinned fruit isn't free or speed but can be a HEXB if in juice not syrup. Or can be syned eg: 100g peaches in juice is 2.5syns

ALemonyPea · 03/06/2017 10:46

The mashed banana thing is crazy. If it's just one mashed banana on toast, for instance, then I'd not bother synning it. Mashing three or four, maybe then you're just being silly and not SWing right.

Wrt speed in foods, it depends in how you make your bolognese. mine, I have celery, onion, grated carrot and tinned tomatoes in. I also then fry mushrooms, peppers and courgettes and top my pasta with that then the bolognese. Mainly because my DC wouldn't want the extra veg. If you're adding all that veg to bolognese, then it should be fine.

The reasoning behind the third speed is that you're replacing free foods with speed foods, so you shouldn't be having as much pasta as you're replacing that space in your plate with the speed. If you have a massive plate of pasta and adding speed packed bolognese, then you're not going to lose much weight.

I occasionally will have a salad alongside my bolognese in the same plate, and it does mean I have very little pasta. Still feel full afterwards.

Hi. Been doing this for 4 weeks and doing pretty well (1 stone down 5.5 stone to go). Am trying to worl out syns for snack and have got confused. On rice cakes with coatings the book says that some are 4 syns per rice cake and others say 3 syns 100g pack (17g each) are they both per rice cake as the list quotes one per cake and one per pack??????
Hmm

MyGuideJools · 03/06/2017 11:37

newlife I sometimes have the large chocolate coated rice cakes from lidl.
They are 4 syns each

FaithAgain · 03/06/2017 12:22

I either have my speed food alongside my meal but I believe within it is fine too! My consultant emphasises it should be with your main meal, not as dessert because otherwise you can over eat on your main meal (speed fills you up) or eat when you're not hungry having dessert. The fruit thing is about changing the consistency so how it's broken down. I say pah to a mashed banana but fair enough if it's blended fruit.

Groovee · 03/06/2017 13:01

It varies on what I eat. Salmon with potatoes then my 1/3rd Veg is on my plate. Where as bolognese or pasta bake or fried rice is my speed in it! Which is better for me.

The 1-3rd speed is meant to be replacing what you would put on your plate. Are you losing doing it your way?

Callendargirl1969 · 03/06/2017 14:41

Thanks for all those replies, the way you have explained it has made far more sense than the way the consultant did. she just said, it didn't count and I didn't understand what she meant, after all it all goes down the same way! So portion control is what it's all about, maybe if she'd explained that a bit better. Thanks again!

Callendargirl1969 · 03/06/2017 14:45

And this Wednesday we'll see if I'm losing, haven't had my first weigh in yet. But in the past I've always done it without speed veg, before there even was such a thing, and it always worked for me the old way. Fingers crossed!!
A male friend of mine has just got to target having lost 8 stone on SW he looks AMAZING!!

ALemonyPea · 03/06/2017 17:36

Glad it makes sense.

Once you get your head around the replace not add thing, it will work. Took me a few weeks, and now its second nature. Hope it sticks once I get to target as well.

Great NSV for me today. We went to an outdoor museum today, everyone got ice creams and cake, I got a Diet Coke. The flapjacks and lemon drizzle cakes looked amazing.

I'm feeling crap and was all set to get a kebab! But I didn't! Made burgers, chips and salad!

Ignored white cheese rolls and crisps today too.

Good for you @ALemonyPea
