Try not to sweat it, we all make mistakes, is one you'll not make again in a hurry.

Nearly all packed but the towels from swimming earlier are still damp!

Have had a good relax. Just not looking forward to the washing.

NachoAddict · 08/07/2017 23:01

I just ate 4 pink and whites in a row. I was already on 14 syns for the day so tgat took me over by 9. Can't claw them back tomorrow either becaise we are going for a Toby carvery. Bugger!

Can't believe you are coming home already Groovee

OwlinaTree · 09/07/2017 07:32

Yes it's gone quick groovee, hope it was all good.

Wedding was great! Due to sorting the kids out etc we missed most of the food, so I ended up eating 3 sausages, a bread roll, small pudding bowl of trifle, pavlova and a bit of lolly cake. No speed in that lot, not sure if there was even any free food! Yummy though. Drank g and t, not sugar free as they didn't have it. Lots of dancing, was a great night!

Got the hungover munchies now, would love thick white buttered toast.... Mmmmm.

BasinHaircut · 09/07/2017 09:24

Morning all!

I've been MIA but doing my best the past couple of days. I've been on a cake baking course, had a meal out and been to a party, plus another meal out to contend with today. Not the best week to get back on it!

I've been doing the plan where I can and making good choices, but I've also had cake (and it was totally delicious). Didn't drink at the party though. Today's meal will be a roast. If I lose at least something this week I'll be pleased (hoping for a pound still) and next week I've just got one meal out to contend with so should be able to do much better.

ibuiltahomeforyou · 09/07/2017 11:49

I need a good shaking - I went on holiday and haven't really been on plan. Now I feel a bit embarrassed to go to group as I'd aimed to lose three pounds!!

The old me wouldn't have stayed to group...

TurquoiseOwl · 09/07/2017 13:59

Hello Smile please may I join? It's my 1st weigh in tomorrow! I'm just over 20 st, so I really hope I can do this!

OwlinaTree · 09/07/2017 14:39

ibuilt you've had a holiday it's fine. Just go and get weighed and get back on it. Hope you enjoyed yourself!

I'll probably have a gain this week after this weekend's wedding, I'll stay to group if you doGrin

ALemonyPea · 09/07/2017 14:53

Hope you've had a lovely holiday Groovee, and the scales are kind to you come weigh say.

Ibuilt, you've been on holiday, you're allowed to let it go. If you've not lost, don't feel embarrassed, feel empowered that you've gone back to group and got back on the plan.

I think I may have had a months syns on the pudding I had at my mams today. Black Forest trifle. It was divine. Stuffed now though and won't have anything for the rest of the day I'm that full.

Hi can I join you all? And could someone help me out. In have no idea what I'm doing. I joined Slimming word on line. I'm finding it near impossible to use and I barely understand any of it.

I can't see how many syns I'm allowed per day.

I can't do the on line food dairy.

I don't know what this A/B food list thing is. I can't even see it.

I think I need to get the actual books. But in the mean time can anyone give me a couple of tips whilst I wait for the books.

Thanks Smile

OwlinaTree · 09/07/2017 16:14

You can have 15 syns a day unless you are over a certain weight, but I don't know what that is.

Hex a and b are a bit more complicated.

Groovester · 09/07/2017 16:27

Hi everyone, Well I'm back after my long weekend away and about to head out to the Chinese buffet for dinner. I've definitely put in another 3lbs or so, thus half a stone in 3 weeks. What a numpty!
Anyway, I will be back on plan as of tomorrow morning. Think I'm going to skip class on Thursday and return next week instead. That gives me 10 days to turn things around. Apart from one meal out next week with an old friend we don't have much on so I'm hopeful I can turn things around again. Fingers crossed!

PositiveAttitude · 09/07/2017 16:30

Welcome Turquoise - I was over 20stone this time last year and have so far lost 4 stone 10lb. I am a slow loser, but i am pleased with how it is going and it has certainly has not felt as if I have been "dieting" at all. You can do this and this group is great, too. How have you found your 1st week? Good luck with WI tomorrow.

Welcome Stars - basically food is put into groups:
Speed foods - which is most fruit and veg and you should have at least 1/3rd of your plate filled with speed food at each meal time.

Free foods - some yogurts, the fruit and veg that is not speed foods, rice, potatoes, pasta, cous cous, etc. - these you can have on the plan without weighing amounts and can make up another 1/3rd of your plate at a meal time.

Protein foods - lean meat - meat with all visible fat cut off, fish and eggs - this is the final 1/3rd of your plate and can be used for snacks to fill you up if you are hungry.

Healthy Extra A (HE A) - this is mainly milk, cheese and you need 1 portion carefully weighed out each day.
Healthy extra B (HE B)- wholemeal bread, ryvita, oats and other things, carefully weighed out and 1 portion each day.

There should be a list of acceptable HE A and B's online for you to look at and choose from.

Syns are between 5 and 15 each day.

Thats it in a nutshell - there are loads of experienced SW-ers here, so ask any questions you may have and we will do our best to support you.

TurquoiseOwl · 09/07/2017 16:52

@PositiveAttitude - wow, that's really good! Well done. I'd love to be your weight now - that's the weight that I left school at (pretty much - maybe a bit less) and I didn't have to worry about fitting anywhere. Now I worry about plane seats, theme park seats, fitting in the MRI scanner, etc. Sad I'm 18 and it's just ruined my whole life being obese. I really want to make that change.

My 1st week has been really good. I'm going with my mum (although she's a few stone lighter than me) and it's so great doing it together! We have the same meals, etc.

Mind you, today I have had a yogurt with some blackberries and a sprinkle of porridge oats and a 6 inch subway. I am under my sins, so I'm fine with that and I don't feel hungry, but I do wonder if maybe I should add more speed in...? I'm sneakily weighing Wink and I'm happy with the results, but don't want to be too optimistic as I know scales vary, etc.

LavenderRainbows · 09/07/2017 17:27

Welcome turquoise you will get loads of tips on here!
I was 19 stone when I started and have lost 5 stone. If I can do it so can you! I've yo-yo'd most of my adult life and this is the only thing I've ever been able to stick to.
I no longer crave chocolate like I used toGrin
Good luck Flowers

Groovee · 09/07/2017 17:40

Welcome Star and Turquoise.

Currently on the M6. Having my first KFC since Christmas when we stop as we won't get home until about 9pm.

Have a food plan until Thursday as It's MIL's 70th and I'm taking her for afternoon tea. Then I am to have a big pasta dinner. Apparently it helps aid recovery a bit like when you do a big run. The consultant who sent me the guide was a parent of one of my key children at nursery! Was odd seeing his name on the letter.

ALemonyPea · 09/07/2017 17:47

Welcome newbies.

I was over 18 stone when I started. 14 months later I've lost just over 7 stone and am at target. It can be done, if you want it and can get back on plan if you have an off day. Just take it slowly, don't look at the total loss, do small targets and it'll soon add up.

I think if you're over 16 stone you get 20 syns.

TurquoiseOwl · 09/07/2017 17:51

Such amazing losses!

I did slimming world last year (I started at just over 19 stone and got down to 17 something) but my mum stopped going Sad no excuse, I know! However, that was fatal... She's promised she will always come this time, so there really is no excuse.

I'm gutted, it was £1 cheaper last time (I was 17) Grin

It's a different group too (which is way better) as last time lots of friends' parents were joining and it was so embarrassing. There was also a girl from the year above me (who was much slimmer) and I hated group. There was about 30 in it! This time there's only about 10.

I think I preferred my old consultant - she was lovely. She sent cards after every 7 lbs, is that a normal thing? I don't think this one does.

BasinHaircut · 09/07/2017 18:04

I am so annoyed. Decided to enjoy my Sunday lunch out and i had roast beef and sticky toffee pudding and custard. It was a bit meh and so totally not worth the gazillion syns. Also feel a bit sick now.

Oh well I doubt I'll eat anything else again and back on it (and weigh day) tomorrow

turquiose you can do this.

stars ask away on here someone is usually around to answer questions.

caremummy · 09/07/2017 18:12

Can I join too? I massively fell off the wagon and stopped sw in exam season, but I've restarted now (73 kg + 5ft3) I'm also restarting couch to 5k. I need to stick to it this time and could do with a good loss before the start of uni 🙃

Starsandwishes · 09/07/2017 18:34

Thank you positive that makes sense.

I had the impression I could eat as much free food as I want to?

FoofFighter · 09/07/2017 18:42

Hello new joiners :) Good luck to you all, it's a fab way of eating :) I love it.
Sorry cannot help with the online question but if it's anything like the normal SW access we get, no it's not very user friendly at all!!

My problem seems to have resolved itself, I feel like I've been poisoned though or got a stomach bug brewing which is helping, not one single piece of speed has passed my lips since Friday and boy am I feeling it. I feel awful!

Monday's plans:

b: grapefruit, 2 weetabix hexb with s/s milk (part hexa)
l: veggie soup - carrot, onion, sweet potato and butternut squash - ham rollups to dip
t: linda ROAR sausages, gravy (syns) mashed potato/sweet potato, carrot and swede

FoofFighter · 09/07/2017 18:43

Supposed to WI Weds but debating leaving it til Sat morning to give myself a fighting chance of the scales not showing a huge gain - thoughts? Or am I better to just do it and ignore it. I cant make the following week's class anyway so will have to do the Fri or Sat monring one instead.

ALemonyPea · 09/07/2017 19:17

Stars, you can eat as much free food as your appetite allows, as long as you replace a third of your portions with speed food. Try look at your portion sizes. Picture on your plate a third speed foods, a third protein and a third carbs. That's what it should look like.

Foof, if you feel it'll keep you on track better, then go on Saturday.

Basin, I hate that when you have a treat and it wasn't as you hoped.

OP posts:
FaithAgain · 09/07/2017 19:25

Welcome newbies!

Stars you can have as much free food as you like, in theory. But you should only eat when you're hungry. Don't have free foods just because you can and they're free.

turquoise the idea with speed is that you have it with your meals to fill you up, this minimises the risk of temptation to gorge on other stuff. If you're full and satisfied, I wouldn't worry too much. Just try to incorporate whatever speed food you can into meals.

Foof I'd be inclined just to weigh in and deal with it and get back on track. I'm the type who won't refocus until I've weighed in though.

I'm struggling at the moment, I ended up in hospital last week for two nights with abdo pain. Sent home on loads on painkillers awaiting more tests. I have no appetite, lots of pain, feeling and being sick. Way off plan as only bland carbs sit well with me. Not sure how I'll get on at WI....
