We are all hiding in here, away from the hot cross buns and Easter eggs.

Welcome all, old and new.

Well done lemony and groovee!

Zed1707 · 25/04/2017 21:25

@Boatsnack I've been having fruit but find it makes me a bit gassy.. I'll try having an egg or omelette for breakfast and hopefully that'll help..

Usually like to sit in evening with a book and end up having junk.. so now trying to think of something to replace the junk or maybe I should just go to sleep earlier Hmm

And it's that time of year, school reports looming ahead.. SadBrewBrew

Zed1707 · 25/04/2017 21:26

And I think I might be going overboard with the carbs.. seem to be having potatoes with everything..

Had roast spuds today.. sooo nice Grin

Zed1707 · 25/04/2017 21:32

And is anyone doing my fitness pal alongside SW?? Does it work??

Groovester · 25/04/2017 21:36

Well done Groovee

MortifiedinAsda · 25/04/2017 21:42

I'm joining in if I may? Smile day two completed today, 5 stone 9 lbs to lose Sad but have found it fairly easy the last couple of days.

I love reading back over your threads and getting inspiration.

Weigh in next Monday but thought I'd check and see if scales are going in right direction tomorrow. Does anyone else weigh before 'official' weigh in btw?

I'm doing SW online and missing the group support really but just don't have time to get to a group right now. I have T2 diabetes and want to improve my diet. I'm in insulin as well as metformin and find it hard to low carb with taking the insulin injections so SW seems to be a good way forward. Looking forward to getting to know you all over the coming weeks/months.

maygirl · 25/04/2017 22:21

Hi Mortified and well done Lemony and Groovee
Commiserations Calzone, hope it comes off quickly. Its so frustrating :( I'm in the same boat and just can't get a significant loss. Trying not to get too down about it but its hard. You mentioned combining fast days & SW, have you tried one yet?

Saved my HeB till dinner tonight and made garlic bread with wholemeal roll and 2 syns of garlic lurpak to have with spag bol, was lush! Courgettes + artichoke for speed

Zed1707 · 25/04/2017 22:22

Hi @MortifiedinAsda

I joined SW on Thursday.. took me a while to get my head round everything but think I'm getting there slowly but surely..

Sorry to hear about the diabetes.. my sis in law has type 1 so I understand what you mean about the carbs etc..

Hopefully SW will work for you.. I hope it works for me..

PositiveAttitude · 25/04/2017 22:33

Welcome to those ladies who have recently joined us here.

Well done all the losers, especially Lemony & Groovee

Mega chuffed here. I have finally got my 4.5 stone award with 2lb off tonight. It has been elusive for wayyyyyy too long. (I got my 4stone in February! Blush ) But I am now not going to be able to WI for another 3 weeks due to being away for the next 2 weeks. While I am away I am being fed whatever is on a set menu, apparently its lovely food with delicious puddings Hmm (work conference). I wil aim for damage limitation and get straight back to it when I return.

LavenderRains · 25/04/2017 22:51

Well done PA Star doesn't matter how long it takes! I need 3 more pound to get my 4.5 award. It's definitely slowing down
bloody great chocolate puddings don't help
I want to get to 5 stone loss so I'm slowly getting there.
Today's menu;
B; wm toast, banana and grapes (hexB)
D; jacket potato and cheese (hexA) gherkins.ham.
T; chicken stew with loads of carrot & swede. Melon, yogurt.
Syns; hifi bar, butter

didireallysaythat · 25/04/2017 23:05

May I ask for some advice ? I've not done SW before, i can't get to the four local SW clubs (and one looks like a funeral wake..) but I'm worried that it will be hard to do something completely new online (I've done ww in meetings ngs and online but can't get on with their new system).

Should i just wait until i can get to a meeting ? Realistically won't be for another 4-5 months due to other commitments....

Zed1707 · 25/04/2017 23:26

@didireallysaythat hi, I'm doing SW online as well as I can't get to a group.. I've found his thread really helpful.. everyone's really welcoming and lots of great ideas..

Why don't you give it a go online, u can always switch to a group if online doesn't work for u

Zed1707 · 25/04/2017 23:27

Well done@PositiveAttitude that's great news!!

MortifiedinAsda · 25/04/2017 23:36

Thanks for the welcome all. I unfortunately messed up my insulin dose ( it's hit and miss and I haven't done a dafne course where you count carbs ) and I accidentally took a few units too much resulting in a hypo so had to drink lucozade and eat sweets to bring blood glucose level back up.
This has always been an issue with dieting or lower carbs eating for me, I'll try again tomorrow and take less insulin but it's a toss up between having too high blood sugars or too low - yesterday was a happy medium but it's so disheartening to have done so well today and messed it all up with syns galore which I have no choice but to eat to stop my blood going dangerously low.

Will start again tomorrow!

Groovee · 26/04/2017 05:59

Well done PA, that's amazing.

Aw @MortifiedinAsda hope things are better tomorrow.

@didireallysaythat a few of my friends are doing SW online. One says you need to get the package with the books as it makes more sense than what you find online.

MortifiedinAsda · 26/04/2017 07:20

PA that's amazing - wow! 4.5 stone :-) if I were you whilst your away I'd either aim to calorie count to try and sts or food optimise as best you can, it's difficult in those situations isn't it?

Well I'm going to start again today. I was gutted to have screwed it up yesterday. I know st only one day but I'm worried there will be days like that. Perhaps I ought to save my syns just incase of a hypo as that would at least cover a small bottle of lucozade and some sweets ect. I also had a couple of pieces of toast for slow release carbs so at least i slept well without another hypo, really high bg's this morn tho!

Today I am going to have:
B/fast: Beans on toast HE
Lunch: SW ploughmans - gherkins, boiled egg, ham, chicken, new potato salad ( 1 syn) lots of rocket and salad leaves, cheese HE, 1 level teaspoon pickle ( 1 syn) 1 apple.
Not sure about dinner!

Good luck with your day today ladies Smile

FaithAgain · 26/04/2017 07:39

Wow! Congratulations to PA, Lemony and Groovee! What phenomenal losses!

DidI I think if you're ready to start, you should start online! I wouldn't wait 4 months. I lost 2 stone in my first 4 months! You can always switch to being a group member when your commitments ease but you get plenty of info with the online package and we can help with any questions here.

Mortified that sounds tricky (I have a friend who teaches DAFNE!). With SW, I've found I do still eat quite a lot of carbs but far less refined carbs. I'll usually have my HEXB for breakfasts (cereal or toast), have pasta or potato with lunch and then pasta, potato or rice with tea. This works well for me. You just have to be inventive with what you have at lunchtime that isn't a sandwich....I'm guessing it will take a bit of time to get your head round it when you're dosing your insulin but I'm sure it'll be good for you once you've cracked it.

TMI - I've been up in the night with loose stools. Got WI tonight, not sure if I'll make it!

YoureMyWifeNowDave · 26/04/2017 11:57

Forgot to post after weigh in yesterday! Another 1.5lbs gone for me 😀 I'm 9lbs away from target now unless I decide to change it again so I'm really hoping to get there by July when we go away

latedecember1963 · 26/04/2017 12:29

Em , I stand my scales on the same bathroom tile too!
Well done on weight losses- this thread is my daily inspiration.
PA you must feel like a totally different person. I need to lose a similar amount to what you have lost and you remind me that it isn't impossible.
Calzone, sometimes cheese and chocolate are just too irresistible and just need to be enjoyed as part of life's pleasures. Your before and after photos earlier in this thread both show a bonny woman. You've done so much, and you're obviously really determined so you'll soon shift the gained weight.
Isulte, I maintained for 2 WIs after a 5.5lb loss the 1st week. Since then I've lost small but steady amounts. Going down the A roads rather than the motorway as my consultant says.

Shamoffour · 26/04/2017 13:39

Bugger 1.5lb on for me.
Someone please get the stick out.

Welcome to all the new people and well done all the losersSmile

Out for dinner and drinks tonight, will be good with food but plan to have a few drinks.

happyandhealthyme · 26/04/2017 14:39

Hi everyone. Reading this thread with interest. Joined a SW group last night. I'm only just in the overweight BMI however I have a few health issues (IBS, PCOS, acne, currently awaiting to have my gallbladder removed) which would all be better managed with a healthier diet. My issues are huge portion sizes and snacking on all the wrong sorts of food. I love cooking and baking but not much of it is healthy.

So far today I've had bran flakes and semi-skimmed milk for breakfast, an Activia yogurt, omelette with broccoli and green beans for lunch, and tonight I'm cooking a turkey chilli with a bit of rice and loads of veg. I'm also terrible at drinking water and pretty much survive on Coke Zero, so I'm going to try hard to drink loads of water.

Zed1707 · 26/04/2017 16:32

Well done @YoureMyWifeNowDave

My weigh in 2moro 🙈.. dreading it..

Going to the zoo 2moro with the reception and year 1 kids so prob do a fair bit of walking.. hoping that helps lol..

Need to get some yoghurts.. what do ppl prefer? Any particular brand or type? I'm more of a strawberry yoghurt person so like müller corner but need an alternative now..

BasinHaircut · 26/04/2017 16:37

Welcome happy, today's good sounds good. Great start. You sound similar to me re habits. Diet Coke and big portions are my problems. My advice is look at the size of your bowls and plates. Modern stuff tends to be huge but I've swapped all mine for an old dinner service that belonged to my DH's grandmother and it really has helped. A measured out portion of cereal doesn't look so lost in a smaller bowl! Grin

Come on sham! Enjoy tonight and then straight back on it!

Day 2 of my conference today and took cereal bars for breakfast and and apple and banana for snack. Lunch again wasn't too bad, had cucumber, beetroot, green beans and then a small portion of mash, A ratatouille type thing and some lamb tagine. No idea on syns but again, I did what I could.

Dinner tonight is tandoori chicken, rice and roasted peppers, onions, mushrooms and courgette. One syn for rice (micro pouch). I've had 2 sugars in a coffee today too so hopefully my lunch was 12 syns or less.

BasinHaircut · 26/04/2017 16:39

zed muller corners are only 4-5 syns so you can still have them. I can not stand muller lights or similar so I eat muller corners and muller bliss if I fancy a yoghurt.

ALemonyPea · 26/04/2017 17:03

Well done losers, and those who've put on, form an orderly queue if you need whipped back onto plan 😁

Zed, I am not a smooth yoghurt fan, so like Danone light and free which have pieces of fruit in. They're free, and very tasty. My favourite is the cherry, but the strawberry is lovely as well.

Tried on some lovely dresses today for a wedding in September. Didn't buy any, but was so nice to almost get into a size 12. Was tempted to buy it and hang it on my wardrobe for motivation.
