We are all hiding in here, away from the hot cross buns and Easter eggs.

Welcome all, old and new.

Oh wow.. been counting my syns and haven't done too bad today, 9.5 syns..

Do any of you weigh yourself during the week or strictly on weighing in day?

Groovee · 25/04/2017 04:41

Well done @leopard101x

@Zed1707 I am strictly once a week. Although my consultant's scales have proved dodgy.

isaulte · 25/04/2017 07:16

Just wondering if anyone can help me work out where I am going wrong?!

I'm at the end of Week 3, lost 3lb the first week, put half a pound on Week 2 (AF week) and have stayed the same this week.

Yesterday's menu (and pretty typical):
B: overnight oats
L: Mug shot, Apple, alpen light bar (3 syns)
D: home made curry with tinned Toms, carrots, courgette, kidney beans, chick peas, with broccoli and cauliflower and extra carrots on the side (half a plate), and a small amount of pasta (I know it doesn't go with curry but I had cooked it for everyone else and couldn't be arsed to cook rice just for me)
Skimmed milk in tea
Snack: about 5 small cold new potatoes

I couldn't fit any more syns in yesterday as I fell asleep on the sofa but I would normally have between 5-10.

Has anyone else had such a slow start? I feel like giving up!

isaulte · 25/04/2017 07:17

Oh, I had a banana with my breakfast as well.

Groovee · 25/04/2017 08:02

@isaulte

Maybe try having some more speed fruit and veg with lunch.

Weigh in for me. Will I get that half pound off to get my 2 stone award?

Have made a sweet omelette. Synned for sugar.

Hope everyone else has a good day x

Zed1707 · 25/04/2017 08:32

@groovee I'm worried mine are a bit dodgy and I keep getting on the scales but my weight fluctuates.. so I'm gonna try and weigh only once a week..

I'm also struggling with what to have for breakfast.. I'm not a big breakfast eater so going to try and at least have some fruit..

BasinHaircut · 25/04/2017 09:06

isalute are you having your healthy extras?

The alpen light bar counts as a HEXB so you wouldn't have to syn that.

I'd give it another couple of weeks keep doing what you are doing and then see if you start to lose. Your body could just be adjusting, depending on what your diet was like before. Fill in food diaries and give them to your consultant to advise you.

zed your weight will naturally fluctuate each day and throughout the day. The best you can do is weigh at the same time once a week and even then it might take a couple of weeks to see the trend. As long as it's going down overall it's all good. Don't worry if you are a couple of lbs heavier one day than the last. A salty meal can make you retain water and whilst it will temporarily show on the scales it's not a fat gain and it's important to remember that.

Talking of temporary gains I cant wait to get past all of these bank holidays and busy weekends as I'm not getting anywhere! In March I had a net loss of half a pound and this month I've had a net loss of half a pound too so far. I lost 2 then gained 1.5. Hoping to get some of that back off this week so my net loss is at least a pound for April.

But at least I'm still not gaining overall I suppose. I am enjoying myself a bit but being on plan where I can. In the next month though I've got:

Another 2 bank holiday weekends (which we like to try and make the most of)
A wedding
6 days in Italy.
Then I've a weeks holiday in Spain in June.

I'm only 3lbs from target and id like to get there before my June holiday if I can.

emwithme · 25/04/2017 09:08

Zed STEP AWAY FROM THE SCALES. This is very much a "Do as I say, Not as I Do" because I weigh myself every morning, at roughly the same time. Naked On the same square of bathroom tile. My weight can fluctuate by up to 6 lbs over the course of a day. I started this because I wanted to see how my monthly cycle affected my weight (I can now pinpoint the day I am going to ovulate because of it!) and know that the day I come on I will be 2.5 lbs heavier than the day before (and that weight will go by three days' later).

I'm not a big "first thing" breakfast eater either. On weekends I leave it a bit later and have a proper "fry up" or omelette or similar, but on weekdays I'd rather have an extra 20 minutes in bed, so I batch make eggy breakfast muffins and just grab a couple of those out of the fridge. [To make 6 muffins - 3 eggs, 150 g cottage cheese. Beat the eggs, add the cottage cheese. Mix together with softened onions/mushrooms/peppers/bacon - or whatever you've got in the bottom of the fridge - and pop into a muffin tray. Silicon is easiest (mine came from the pound shop) or you can use paper cases like for fairy cakes. Top with a halved cherry tomato (cut side up) if you fancy. Pop into the oven for 25 - 30 minutes at 180 Fan/200C/Gas 6 or until set. I put mine into little tupperwares (like takeaway pot size) in pairs and have these for breakfast. They last a good three or four days in the fridge.]

Well I've managed five days ENTIRELY on plan so far.

Yesterday:
B: Eggy muffins
L: Leftover lamb hotpot, apple, pear, satsumas
D: Cajun chicken, rice, salad
HEA: Milk
HEB: Ryvita (with cottage cheese before college)

Today's plan is slightly different and uses many of the syns I haven't had all week. I have an assessment at college tonight (potentially my penultimate one) and it's Tradition to have fish, chips and curry sauce from the Naice Chippy afterwards. Who am I to argue with Tradition Grin

B: Eggy muffins
L: Chicken pasta bake (can you tell I'm eating the odd portions from the freezer this week...I think I could feed an army on what's in there), apple, pear, satsuma
Pre-assessment snack: Eggy muffins, apricots (will take into assessment to nibble on)
D: Fish, chips, curry sauce. Can of tropical Rio. [ALL THE SYNS]
HEA: Milk
HEB: Apricots

Good luck to anyone weighing today.

ChessieFL · 25/04/2017 12:58

isaulte agree that you need more speed foods at lunch (and possibly breakfast, depends what fruit you used in your overnight oats). My observation is that you're having a lot of carbs - pasta for lunch and tea plus potatoes for snacks. That's not wrong on SW, but personally I couldn't lose eating that amount of carbs. You could try having carbs just at lunch or dinner and replace the other carb portion with speed foods.

BasinHaircut · 25/04/2017 13:47

Well today has gone a bit wonky. Totally forgot that I am at a conference for 2 days and so I got nearly all the way to work this morning and then had to turn around and race across town to the conference venue and was an hour late and sans breakfast. So pastry was consumed Blush

Then my delicious on plan lunch that I had made last night is festering in a Tupperware in my bag at very warm room temperature and there are no reheating facilities here so I've had to scrape a lunch together out of the offerings here which werent too bad I suppose. I had 2 chicken thighs (didn't eat the skin) some sweet potato, green beans and cucumber, and an apple. I obviously have no idea how the veggies were cooked so can't accurately syn etc but did what I could under the circumstances. At least it wasn't sandwiches.

I have some of the Aldi alpen-style bars at home so will bring them for breakfast tomorrow and hopefully there will be similar lunch offerings so I can stay closer on plan.

OrianaBanana · 25/04/2017 14:03

I went to McDonalds for lunch Sad Then I went to Costa and had a flat white and a piece of caramel shortbread. My own fault, I'm owning it and I will get back on it now!

Overnight - hifi bar (HexB), squash
B - coffee. Crumpet with butter (7.5 syns), grapes
L - McDonalds (33.5 syns) Angry
D - pulled pork, wedges, broccoli and cauliflower (small portion), muller light
S - hifi (HExB), flat white (HExA), caramel shortbread. If I get peckish later it will be speed fruit

Aargh! I was doing so well. Now I've probably stuffed up this week's weight loss. I'll try and cut back on syns to make up for it - WI Friday so I have time.

ALemonyPea · 25/04/2017 16:22

Well done losers.

Half a lb off for me, which I am fine with. Also got slimmer of the month, which I was shocked at. Chuffed though, got a shiny new sticker.

Oriana, I am very jealous of your McDonalda. I really want one, was almost very nearly through the drive through today for a big tasty meal with a pineapple smoothie. Had a stinking subway salad instead.

Basin, the run to the conference would have negated any calories in your pastries Wink

Thanks for the advice, all - my healthy extra was already porridge oats so I synned the Alpen light bar. I agree that I might be having too many carbs so will drop those, although the portions are not huge. And I will up the speed foods although feel like generally I'm having lots of those!

Previous diet wasn't too bad, although I think that over the years I've just got lazy. At least I am eating 3 meals a day on this diet and not relying on toast! I've also only got just over a stone to lose so I knew it was going to be hard! I'm short and (was) petite so my BMI is high even with a relatively small amount on.
I'm an online member so rely on you all for advice - much appreciated!

I will persevere. Smile

Zed1707 · 25/04/2017 16:25

@emwithme..

Thanks for the warning lol.. backed off and moving away til weigh in day (Thursday).

What do you guys snack on apart from fruit?
I'm running out of ideas and I know I'll start reaching for a chocolate with my tea if I don't find a good substitute.. Confused

And do you all stick to your 5-15 syns?

Groovester · 25/04/2017 16:29

Hi Everyone,

Apart from excess snackage on Sunday night (which put me slightly over syns for the day) I've been on plan all week. Thanks em for the teeth brushing suggestion. It works!
I'm also impressed with a 50+ syns desert Shock

Not managed the gym since Saturday as twisted my knee and it's not happy. Will see if that affects my loss on Thursday. Swapping from an evening to a morning class because my friend's shifts have changed so I think I should at least lose my one pound gain this week...

Groovee · 25/04/2017 16:57

Well done @ALemonyPea 🎉🎉🎉

LavenderRains · 25/04/2017 17:44

Well done lemony
oriana McDonald's sounds good,& pretty tame on syns if you compare it to my 50 syn puddingWink
groovester that pud was good but sooooo sweetBlush

Groovee · 25/04/2017 17:55

Lost 2.5lb and got my 2st

ALemonyPea · 25/04/2017 18:10

Well done Groovee

Zed, when I first started SW, I had between 10-15 syns a day, now I am near target I have between 5-10. The sensible thing is to have the higher amount as once you get closer to target you need fewer calories and syns are one of the measured things you can reduce.

OP posts:
LavenderRains · 25/04/2017 18:18

Brilliant groovee🏆

Boatsnack · 25/04/2017 18:37

zed I've only being doing this a week but I tend to snack on protein like cooked ham/chicken, boiled eggs etc I don't eat all my syns everyday so that I can have wine occasionally.

I have totally lost my appetite think it could be because I haven't being eating bread. I had a tomato and chicken omelette for brunch and I ate some extra chicken but not really wanting anything else it's strange.

Well done lemony and groovee 👏

LavenderRains · 25/04/2017 18:46

boat I found that too. It's the protein, it fills you up for longer. I have eggs, boiled, omelette, poached for breakfast and I often only need fruit and yogurt for lunch.

whereareyousleep · 25/04/2017 19:19

1.5lb on for me bit disappointed as had on the whole a good week also got weighed at the doctors and had lost 5lb there I wish that had been the result.

calzone · 25/04/2017 20:20

Harrumph.

Cheese and wine = 3lb gain. 😡😩😩😩

Gutted as that means that since January 1st I've lost 3.5lb.

I have kept off 2.5 stone but that's not the point.

BasinHaircut · 25/04/2017 20:52

My dinner was shite and now I want to eat stuff.

Nice one groovee!
