Hi all hope everyone's had a good day, I've been super good today trying to pull it back a bit for weigh in on weds.
Can I ask what your consultants say when it comes to syns?
Mine always says don't use them unless you have to, the less syns you have the more you lose.
My old consultant used to tell us to make sure you use them. It's odd that they give such different advice. I just wondered what others say.

B-coffee
L- raspberries, ff yog, flaked almonds.
D-chicken and veg soup, pear and an orange
Mini chomp 3 syns.

LavenderRains · 27/03/2017 21:47

Hi sham ours always says they are there to be used. She says if you don't use them then you may Start to feel restricted and give up. I generally use 10-15 a day

Groovee · 28/03/2017 06:51

Weigh in day... hoping to get club 10 this week x

BasinHaircut · 28/03/2017 07:34

Good luck groovee

Our consultant encourages using syns but it seems to be all about using them on chocolate or wine.

I couldn't do it without using my syns, but I tend to use them in meals more than on treats, with a general ratio of 10/5 meals/treats I reckon.

Alfieisnoisy · 28/03/2017 07:38

Hi Sham, our consultant says you should have a minimum of five syns a day but to use them all if needed.

I always use mine in cooking....and if I go out I often don't count them at all.

I always remember that it's not a race to lose weight as fast as possible but a journey towards a new healthier way if eating which can be managed long term. Diets have end points...healthy eating doesn't.

ALemonyPea · 28/03/2017 08:03

Morning losers.

There is nothing more satisfying than having a poo the morning of weigh in 😁

Sham, my consultant says to use 10-15 syns a day as when you start to get to target and plateau, then reducing your syns is one of the things that can help as it reduces your calories. She says to try use syns with meals rather than as snacks, and to have speed as snacks.

Yay! for improbable and basin - that's brilliant!

And welcome to Whistle.

I was very good last night. I worked out that I hadn't quite had my weekly syns and was going to the cinema and afterwards to the 'Spoons so had thought I'd have a drink. But I decided if I really wanted to try my best for target today I would have a boring old lime and soda. I chose the Shanghai noodles so that was (i think) a few syns (can't remember how many but less than a beer). And very tasty they were too.

Got home and my dh had opened a bottle of wine - I resisted joining him.

So I have tried my best but think I'll probably have to wait for next week. 5.30 today will tell.

OwlinaTree · 28/03/2017 09:03

Weigh in for me today. I'll be happy with a sts after 3 off plan meals this week!

Emmageddon · 28/03/2017 11:48

Half a pound gain for me. I'm not surprised, what with mother's day chocolates and a large number of glasses of wine, it could have been worse. Stayed for group and another 2 girls and I pledged to lose 3lbs each by next Tuesday. Eeeek! We're planning alternate SP days.

Oh and I won the raffle! No need to buy fruit this week.

giveovermypreciousss · 28/03/2017 11:50

First weigh in today after registering. Lost 3.5 lbs which I am really happy with. Im now 2.5 lbs away from the top of healthy range on the BMI calculator. 😀

ALemonyPea · 28/03/2017 12:04

1lb on for me, but I am fine with that after last Tuesdays binge. It could have been so much worse.

Ali, shanghai noodles from 'Spoons are 3 syns, good choice.

Well done Giveover! That's my interim target, 1 stone 2 away!

Not that I'll get there anytime soon with my lunch of caramel muffin and mccoys Hmm

alibongo5 · 28/03/2017 12:19

lemony thanks. I remembered from reading on here that they were very low - thanks to whoever posted about them before. And they were delicious - I was gonna go for the skinny chicken breast burger with salad but as that was basically a chicken salad I think I made the right choice!

Ooh haven't looked at my BMI for a while - will do that!

ALemonyPea · 28/03/2017 12:25

Strange you should mention BMI. My consultant did mine today for whatever reason, when I started it was 41.7, it's now 28.4. Took 50 weeks. I've been going for nearly a year Shock. I really wanted my target by Easter, but it's not going to happen. Now I'd like to be as near to it by the May half term.mjust hoping my hormone tablets get working, 4 weeks roughly to get to the full dose.

alibongo5 · 28/03/2017 12:29

Just looked up my BMI - at last week's weight I am "overweight" and it says that my ideal weight goes up to 10 st 2lb. But if I put my weight in as 10st 2lb (the weight I was the week before) it still says I'm overweight.

But I couldn't put in the extra half inch of height (which I think you'll agree is very important!) so I think I'm just about ok anyway!

Ha! converted my height to cm to be able to add the extra half an inch of height and I have sneaked into the "healthy weight" zone even at last week's weight!

Desperate? yes! Bored? Yes!

ALemonyPea · 28/03/2017 12:30

Haha Ali,I like your style.

YoureMyWifeNowDave · 28/03/2017 12:42

Just 0.5lbs off for me this week, I'm a little disappointed as I only need another 0.5lb to get my 1.5 stone award. Oh well I suppose it could have been worse - it's been a strange week food wise I've had a couple of days where I've fallen asleep with the kids and not really eaten a proper evening meal 😳. Saturday we we at a fair and there was nothing apart from burgers or hot dogs so I didn't eat until the evening and then used all my suns on a chicken dansak and rice and chapati and Sunday was a pub lunch for Mother's Day so no idea of syns really!

FaithAgain · 28/03/2017 12:49

My BMI comes up higher on the SW website than on the NHS calculator. I wonder whether that's down to me being 5ft 4 1/2?!

Lemony what you've achieved is amazing! I think May is realistic. I'm probably aiming for about the same with 12lb to target.

preciousss great start!

00100001 · 28/03/2017 12:57

maintained this week, and not sure why.

am goin g back to food diary!

OwlinaTree · 28/03/2017 13:00

Sometimes you just do binarySad

OwlinaTree · 28/03/2017 13:01

It's so annoying when you have stuck to it.

OwlinaTree · 28/03/2017 13:07

I do a food diary every week or i know I would go over syns!

alibongo5 · 28/03/2017 13:11

I tend to do a food diary too - mainly to record my syns but also to work out what I'm going to eat. But I must admit to missing out on either A or B choices quite often just because I forget to factor them in. I must stop doing that.

ALemonyPea · 28/03/2017 13:35

I have a notebook I write everything down in, otherwise I'd lose track, and it helps me stay in control. I write things down aimed at myself, sometimes a smiley face, sometimes a "what the fuck are you doing" face, depends on the day.

I bought one of the 12 week SW journals, and I really recommend it - it's got lots of inspirational quotes along the way, and bit and pieces to fill in, why you want to lose weight, what is stopping you, what you have achieves, what you hope to achieve, space for photos of you at your worst, and photos along the way etc and best of all, a bunch of balloons and you can colour in one balloon per pound lost. I have 21.5 coloured in balloons!! Grin Very satisfying!!

I am doing a 7 day menu plan for the week ahead, (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks) and need ideas for packed lunches for work - can anyone help? I have access to a microwave and kettle. I usually take dried noodles, with cherry tomatoes, chopped mushrooms and shredded chicken or ham to stir into them. But I want to try something different every now and again.

Thank you in advance, you lovely lot.Flowers
