Yes - food bills go up, total expenditure has gone down. Saving £150 a month is loads! Shock

harverina · 17/03/2017 09:31

So it's friday! The weekend is always a killer for me. It's like I think I deserve a treat just because it's Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Ridiculous!

Any tips for surviving the weekend? Any treats with low syn value that will make me feel like I have had something really lovely?!

OwlinaTree · 17/03/2017 09:48

Well done bunch! Did you get anything nice in the basket?

I've got a Thai meal to go to tonight. Anyone got any ideas what to go for? I can't find any syn values on line for Thai restaurant food. I'm guessing similar to Chinese, if I go for some type of stir fried meat and veg, and avoid the yummy Coconut based curries that will probably be ok? No wine, I'm driving so that makes that a bit easier.

Shamoffour · 17/03/2017 13:05

Owlina I usually have chicken pad krapow. It's chicken in a clear sauce with chilli and sweet basil. It's lovely but spicy. I can't imagine it's that bad. Thai is tricky because as you said everything has coconut in, or nuts!
I have two really good days, today I'm a bit wobbly I need to stay focused! Dd is off school with the tummy bug that everyone in the family seems to have had. I just feel queasy, at least if i got it properly I might lose a couple of pounds instead of just feeling bleurgh!

B-fruit, Greek yogurt and walnuts
L- baked potato and beans
D-not sure maybe pasta

Feeling very carby today think it just because I'm feeling under the weather.

ALemonyPea · 17/03/2017 13:49

Well done losers.

I'm so bloated, beyond ridiculous. I've taken some lactulose in the hopes it helps.

Another SP day for me, might do it for the rest of the week. Don't mind them, I'm having pizza tonight mmmmm

What do you actually eat on a sp day? None of my faves are sp Biscuit

ALemonyPea · 17/03/2017 14:08

You only have foods with an S or P next to the, through the day, 2 HEB and one HEA. Your plate should be half P and half S. Ira really easy to do once you get to grips with it.

Afternoon all

Any of the stirfry meals are good for thai food. We usually share a stirfry and a coconut one and I only have a tiny bit of the coconut sauce. I know it's high in fat but I am a bit meh about coconut being 'bad' for you as it does have a lot of health benefits. As long as you aren't drinking cans of the stuff I don't think it's necessarily bad.

And I don't have any of the lovely fried starters anymore. Which are probably worse than the coconut.

Friday is my treat day. However am holding off until treat night this week. Didn't have breakfast other than coffee and had a bowl.of hm chicken and mushroom soup for lunch.

Tea will be chicken sag and boiled rice. And gin. And possibly wine. Back on it tomorrow first thing though.

Really need a loss this week. Ideally 1.5lbs.

OwlinaTree · 17/03/2017 16:29

Thanks for the Thai advice guys. We cook with Coconut milk at home, but it's never as low cal when you eat out is it?

Looking forward to it now I've got some ideas, thanks. The chicken pad sounds lovely, I'll look out for that!

Groovee · 17/03/2017 19:58

Went to the cinema and took my own fruit and popcorn. Got a Coke Zero too.

Groovee · 17/03/2017 21:19

Just made these. So awesome.

Shamoffour · 18/03/2017 08:53

Groovee they look nice I will try them later I've got everything in. I'm really trying to keep sugar down but last night ate half a big bag of maltesers so would be good to find a sweet treat that would keep me on plan!

ALemonyPea · 18/03/2017 09:35

Ooooo they look delicious Groovee. Need to go buy choc chips, but have everything else in.

Day 3 SP for me. Hoping the extra fibre will help me go. I'm desperate at this point.

Morning everyone. My food challenge this evening is a 5 course meal at a restaurant to celebrate DS1's 18th birthday. It's a set menu so no choice about sensible choices. It's the place we go for ultra special occasions and the food is fabulous. I'm telling myself it's 1 meal out of 21. We need to take both cars to fit everyone in so I won't be having alcohol. Hoping I'll burn off some calories in nervous energy keeping my 'D'M in check. She was in a foul mood when I spoke to her on Thursday because for once someone else is diverting attention from her. 13 hours from now DH will have delivered her home again. Have a good weekend everyone, I check in a couple of times a day and it's great hearing how everyone's doing!

latedecember1963 · 18/03/2017 10:35

Just re-read, that should have been DS2's 18th birthday!

Groovee · 18/03/2017 11:57

Hope you have a lovely meal Late.

Making the chilli con carne from the SW. It actually tastes like chilli. It's one dish which always tastes bland to me when I attempt to make it. It's smelling fab in the slow cooker.

Dd is working, DH and Ds are going to the football and I'm just chilling.

LavenderRains · 18/03/2017 13:13

Have a good meal late we have got take away pizza for lunch and birthday cake.
DD,27 wants to celebrate with us minions before she celebrates more seriously with pals tonight!
All I've had today is yogurt and fruit so I'm gonna have a couple or 5 slices of pizza and a bit of cake, sod it today, it's my DD's birthday Grin
Also had some bad news re my DF health so I'm feeling a bit sad and need cake!

ALemonyPea · 18/03/2017 15:30

Go and enjoy yourself, Late, and think not of the calories. It's a special occasion after all.

Flowers Lavender.

Relieved to have another pound off today, as have been away from home since Wednesday and unable to cook healthy meals. Haven't overeaten at all, but was worried a change in routine would make a difference. Thankfully not.
Back home now, so hopefully back on track with my eating plan, fingers crossed for a bigger loss next week.

Groovester · 18/03/2017 18:00

Love to you Lavender

A couple of good days here plus a visit to the gym this morning means a more relaxed evening. Movie and a few snacks ahoy...

B - Fruit and yogurt.
L - salad with 2 poached eggs and half a wholemeal roll.
D - Mayflower chicken curry with onions and mushrooms and rice.

OwlinaTree · 18/03/2017 19:28

Well done fizzy, that's great especially being away from home.

ALemonyPea · 18/03/2017 19:50

Well done Fizzy.

Groovster, how do you make the curry, and what's the syns? Bought some mayflower curry powder, but not sure what to do with it.

Well done losers. I had a really busy week this week and ended up eating out twice (once was on plan, one was not) and had 2 cocktails last night. Back on track today, have done an SP day and went for a long swim to try to make up for my earlier slip ups. Food today:

B - strawberries and blackberries
L - chicken salad
D - bolognese (no pasta) with cheese (HEA) and roasted veg on the side
S - Freddo (5.5)
No B choices yet so might have some toast or a couple of hifis later if I feel peckish

Groovee · 18/03/2017 20:14

Mayflower, I make up 85g with 360mls water and add to chicken and veg in the slow cooker. It's lovely.

Frouby · 18/03/2017 20:22

We love the mayflower curry. I brown off some chicken (about 600g) add 2 onions chopped up chunky and some halved mushrooms, and cook until soft. Add half a tub of the powder to a pint jug, fill with cold water and whisk, than add another half pint and chuck it in with rest of ingredients. Bring to the boil and simmer until it's thick enough (usually about 20 mins). Add a handful of frozen peas just before I serve. If it's too watery just add a bit more whisked up powder. I serve with egg fried rice and stir fry veg. What's left over freezes really well.

Having a shit day. Dsis with thyroid cancer found new lumps. Wine has been drunk. Biscuits, a cheese sandwich and a bag of crisps. Sigh. And my mum has shadows on her lung. Ffs.
