Well done losers.

Will have to watch that programme PA. I did the Cambridge diet a few years ago and lost 4 stone, but as soon as I ate normal food again I piled it back on and more. It doesn't address the reason I was fat, so went back to bad eating habits straight away.

Doing SW, it's changed my eating habits for the better, and I actively seek out fruit and veg when I'm eating. I didn't have any really yesterday, and this morning I'm craving oranges.

PA it's lemony having the surgery not meSmile good luck lemony
I am the same now, I crave a nice bit of fruit, instead of chocolate now. I love love mango at the moment.
How is your dad doing PA
Thanks owlina

FaithAgain · 15/02/2017 07:53

Lavender I get the same feelings!

I didn't see that but I will find it on catch up PA. I always think that with these 'fat/fit camps' - no way will they continue at the same level so of course their weight loss will stop! I did watch a TED talk that was saying it's much harder to lose weight once you've been overweight link here. Personally I think that's why SW is different, it talk about the psychological aspects of weight loss as well as the physical. I'd love to see data/stats on how many people join SW, how many make target and how many maintain target over time. I'd love to compare those with WW results too!

YoureMyWifeNowDave · 15/02/2017 09:18

I have just realised that for the first time in about 10 years my BMI is now in the healthy range Grin its 25 so only just there but I am so pleased with it

harderandharder2breathe · 15/02/2017 09:41

1.5 off for me and in my thrilled considering my curry!

FaithAgain · 15/02/2017 10:20

Brilliant harder! Sounds like you're back in the groove!

BasinHaircut · 15/02/2017 10:40

Morning all, well done in the losses today.

I'm off work today, having a spa afternoon so just had a nice big brunch of 3 slices of whole meal (HEXB + 3 syns) with 2 extra light cheese triangles (2 syns) and 2 poached eggs. Had a coffe with 2 sugars (2 syns). Will take fruit for a snack after my treatments to tide me over until dinner.

Have a SW lamb and chick pea balti simmering and it smells amazing. Will have that with rice and veg for dinner.

Frouby · 15/02/2017 10:53

Morning all

Back from wi with 0.5lbs on. Hmmpph. Apart from the mammoth 60 syns in Saturday for Valentine's I have been under 10 syns all week so annoyed at that. Am going to up my speed massively and try and keep a written food diary to see what's happening. Had a good loss last week of 3lbs and didn't expect a loss but a sts would have been better.

I watched the super slimmers programme too. It was interesting but depressing. Started a thread in chat about it. I think it's more difficult than ever to lose and maintain a weight loss. Everything seems to involve food and not healthy food really. Sugar is in just about most things. We are never far from fast food and even pub food tends to be highly processed crap these days. Low fat, low sugar options are usually just as bad if not worse than the main menu and even going for a coffee can involve a lot of calories and sugar.

Plus if you believe the programme our hormones are conspiring against us too.

Todays meal plan

B. Coffee
L. Tuna salad probably. Or my b choice with fruit.
T. Mayflower curry, egg fried rice and stir fry veg. All the veg! Syns am not sure yet.

LavenderRains · 15/02/2017 11:04

Well done losers,
frouby that's disappointing for you Thanks onwards and upwards for next week.
I lost 1lb which is surprising considering I've eaten out 3 times this week, although I had jacket potato instead of chips.
The slimmer of the week basket looked good this week, had a pineapple, banana and raspberries in it, plus the usual mugshot!
Today's menu,
B; tomato and mushroom omelette topped with cheese (hexA)
D; prawns, brown bread (hexB) cucumber, gherkins
T; not sure yet, probably chicken and jacket potato
Syncs today will probably be butter and chocolate Smile

ClashCityRocker · 15/02/2017 12:47

D'oh, got confused with dates, and WI is in tomorrow not tonight!

Well done losers!

Yes, I watched that programme too - think in some ways it's a bit of a non-story. If you get to the point where you're 20 stone overweight there's clearly some issues around food which living off milkshakes for six months aren't going to resolve, so it's pretty clear that it's highly likely weight will be put on.

Same as if you're burning 8,000 calories a day exercising - I think the biggest loser is actually shockingly irresponsible, that can't be good for you - and certainly isn't sustainable.

BasinHaircut · 15/02/2017 12:53

I'm going to watch that programme this afternoon, sounds interesting.

I hunk the issue with a lot of things as they are seen as quick fixes, or are such a drastic change that requires so much effort that it's never going to be sustainable long term.

It's a shame to hear that so many people gained he weight back though.

Just been shopping and spent too much money in Lakeland, but have got one of those crisper trays that is meant to be good for SW chips amongst many other things

Just waiting for my 2 hour spa treatment now and having a pear. Deep tissue massage and dermabrasion facial coming up. Belated Xmas present from DH.

harderandharder2breathe · 15/02/2017 13:10

Bought some Heck sausages only to discover the 97% ones are 3 syns each, almost the same as normal sausages doh! They are very nice though! I'll try the chicken ones next time that are lower syn

OneOfTheGrundys · 15/02/2017 14:11

1.5 off... Was hoping for more but I'll KBO.
(Keep Buggering On).
Good luck this week all. 💐

Groovester · 15/02/2017 15:17

I can hardly keep up with this thread these days but well done to all the losers. Weigh in for me tomorrow. Half term so I'm off work which is lovely but also hard to stay on track. I find that I see to my kids and forget to see to food for myself. Did make it to the gym earlier today. And I visited my lovely gran (known for calling a spade a spade) and she couldn't believe how slim I was looking. That gave me a boost.
It's my birthday next week so I'm out for a celebratory meal on Saturday. Looking forward to a meal off plan!

PositiveAttitude · 15/02/2017 15:35

Sorry about getting you mixed up Lemony and Lavender - I blame the fact that it was very early this morning and I was struggling with a serious case of the CBAWL today (Can't Be Arsed With Life) Grin

Thanks for asking about dad. He is back on the island in the local hospital. He had done very well post amputation (2 toes), but over the past week he is getting more and more confused and ramble on and on aimlessly. He moans about absolutely everything (nothing new) and I spend every visiting time apologising to any nurse that eh has managed to upset that day! [sigh]

On a much nicer note DD2 yesterday took her DS home from hospital. He is now 6 months old (born 15 weeks early). He has the most gorgeous smile ever and he melts my heart every time I see it. A long hard road ahead for DD2 and her BF but we are celebrating every milestone. Grin

Shamoffour · 15/02/2017 18:27

LavenderRains · 15/02/2017 18:34

Sorry to hear your dad is struggling PA at least he is back on the island I guess.
sham glad Peppa pig was enjoyed by all, shame it couldn't stay dry! Was it busy?

I've had my tea but am craving something sweet. Got some watermelon but that's not doing it for me!! Can't have too many syns as I'm eating out again tomorrow Confused

Kav909 · 15/02/2017 18:37

I've been on slimming world nearly a year now I've done really well and lost 3st 12lb but I feel I have lost all motivation any ideas on how to get this back and any ideas on quick and easy snacks as this is where I struggle would be great :)
My main temptation is the fact that it's quick and easier to get a takeaway or a bar of chocolate or a packet of crisps don't get me wrong I have improved massively with this but it's still there and I still do it :(

ClashCityRocker · 15/02/2017 18:46

I always have some hard boiled eggs or cooked chicken in the fridge in case of snack attacks. Chocolate and crisps I don't have in the house. If I'm really craving chocolate I have an options hot chocolate.

Takeaways I still struggle with Confused but have managed to limit it to once a week and choose the healthiest thing.

However, some things that I have been recommended to try:-

  • make sure you have a couple of portions of your favourite healthy tea in the freezer
  • bin menus, delete just eat app, erase takeaway numbers (not sure how well this works in the days of Internet
  • eat when you're hungry. If you've already had your tea, you can't order a takeaway in theory
  • plan takeaways in advance
  • in fact, plan every meal in advance. Batch cook if possible to cut down work.
  • think about what has you reaching for snacks. make sure you have healthy snacks available at this time.
Kav909 · 15/02/2017 19:02

Thank you 😊

Groovee · 15/02/2017 19:13

I got that seafood casserole from M&S for tomorrow. Ended up having a sticky bun too at 13 syns.

Today's the first day that I didn't want to cook dinner! But I did it. Pork stir fry and noodles and it was nice. Chilling on the sofa now.

Evening.

Dinner was ace! SE lamb and chick pea curry. Second one I've cooked out of the book and both have been a success. Served with rice and broccoli

BasinHaircut · 15/02/2017 21:04

Just watching the super slimmers programme. It's quite heartbreaking actually.

FaithAgain · 15/02/2017 21:38

Well hooray hooray, I've lost 1.5lb a week after I'd hoped I have finally achieved my 2 stone award! I'm chuffed to bits. Grin

Dinner tonight was slow cooked beef stew. Found Gf suet so we had dumplings! Absolutely gorgeous.

That looks lovely Basin!
