They're awful, the texture is like sponge and taste just as bad. Not too keen on the ready meals or soups or salads, they're all way too overspiced for me.

I recon the syns will come back down once they've conducted their "intensive" testing.

The relentless pushing of products at the meetings gets on my tits. I appreciate that the consultant has to do it, to rave about the latest SW ready-meal, soup and salad, but it's annoying. I wonder if it's the same at Weightwatchers?

The underlying message seems to be 'eat our stuff and you'll get thin quickly' whereas everyone I know (and that includes you lovely lot) tends to cook most meals from scratch, and there's no reliance on convenience foods for most of us. Not to mention the cost of buying individual ready-meals!!

FaithAgain · 01/03/2017 22:54

Emma having done both I can confirm it's the same, if not worse, at WW. I don't buy any SW foods. I don't need them. I've lost 2 stone cooking from scratch! I can't eat the hifi bars anyway because they all have wheat (except the new mocha and I hate coffee). I would think they make a huge amount of their profits from these products, probably more than the groups themselves, hence the big push. I just ignore because actually the plan itself it's quite sensible, based on a healthy balanced diet with plenty of fruit and veg!

tabulahrasa · 02/03/2017 00:20

"Another question, do consultants get a discount on the SW ready meals"

No, your consultant just likes ready meals, lol.

I don't go to the same group all the time and how much they mention the Iceland stuff varies - oh and weight watchers is way worse for trying to get you to live off their branded stuff. (I've done all the diets)

I'm finding the porky lights conspiracy fairly amusing, I don't eat meat, so I've no clue how any of the sausages taste, lol, but there's a whole load of other sausages that are like half a syn each or 1/2 a syn for two for some of them? Surely if they only wanted you to buy Iceland ones they'd all be high in syns?

I'm wondering if there's been a mix up somewhere...their not low fat sausages are 4 1/2 syns, which seems a bit coincidental.

Lulooo · 02/03/2017 05:31

I can't keep up with this thread either. Fantastic support here.
Just skimmed through a couple of pages and will catch up on the rest later.

Just a quick update on myself through.. I've moved completely to online SW now and will stop going to meetings. I do miss them a little bit as they do provide the odd few good hints and tips but our meeting go on for almost 2 hours and I find the majority of it exceedingly boring. Going through everyone and saying well done on your loss and no giving the same words of encouragement with minor tweaks to everyone regardless of how much they lost gets very repetitive. It feels like I'm just sitting in line with a bunch of her friends for a little well done. I weighed the pros and cons of the few tips I got from group with the 2 hours spent sitting there and decided it wasn't worth it. Especially after the most busiest day of my week when I've been awake from 4am and only got home for 2pm. After kids and cooking etc, going to group from 5-7pm seems like a chore.

The good news is I lost 3lbs this week. Wahay! I'm really pleased with that. Was hoping for 2lbs at least so this is a bonus. Total loss is now 17.5lbs. I'm well chuffed with that.

Oh and just to weigh in on the avocado discussion, I have avocado every day. I have some on my toast with philadelphia cheese every morning. To me it feels like a little luxury and I happily syn it over chocolates. Which is saying something as chocolates are what got me in this fine mess in the first place.

BasinHaircut · 02/03/2017 08:31

emma I just felt sick because I pigged out on takeaway.

clash it was pure unadulterated delicious filthy chicken burger, chicken wings and chips. All washed down with a fizzy orange. I recognised a point about halfway through where I could have stopped and been satisfied portion-wise (this is new!) but it was too delicious to stop. That's why I felt sick after. Also feeling groggy and queasy this morning and really noticing the effects of the unhealthy food - which is a good thing. Makes me realise how much better I have been feeling since joining SW.

Anyway that's that out of our systems and we can crack on.

Weighed myself and I weigh 2lbs more than yesterday morning. Sure it's just bloating from the saltiness but I'm kind of treating this as an experiment to see how long the effects of the takeaway last weak effort at justification as that will be really useful to know. I've got a boozy night out in a couple of weeks, so obviously that will be all in the name of science too as I need to know what the effects of a night in the sauce are on the scales and how long it takes to pull it back.

Anyway back on plan today.

Frouby · 02/03/2017 08:57

Morning all

Sorry PA I missed your post about your dad. Did you get it sorted? Hugs and well done on your loss x

Am feeling slightly better today. Still full of cold but I can walk around with out getting wobbly legs. I hate, hate, hate being ill. I rarely am fortunately but when I am it knocks me on my arse.

I had a takeaway last night too. I had hardly eaten for 2 days, just toast and soup and that was probably contributing to wobbling around. We had dominos pizza. I had tuna, anchovies, olives and peppers and it was bloody beautiful. The best pizza I have ever eaten lol.

Back on plan today. Not sure on lunch. Some salad if it's not too wilted or maybe a quiche. Am doing Shepherds Pie for tea with all the veg that needs using up.

Having a new fridge freezer delivered tomorrow so on a mission to empty the current one.

Deep cleaning the kitchen today in preparation and have to defrost the current one to be taken away.

ALemonyPea · 02/03/2017 09:10

That pizza sounds delicious Frouby, minus the olives. I never did get my dominoes before my operation, DH wanted a kebab so I got a pizza from the kebab shop and it just wasn't the same. Such a disappointment.

The porky light saga continues. Porky Heites have submitted their scientific testing findings online, they are what they say, so I suspect SW are being giant knobbers and claiming they're not what they seem to get people to buy the safe SW ones. I think the reason people like porky lights is because they taste like proper sausages, unlike most low syn sausages. I hate the SW ones.

OP posts:
BasinHaircut · 02/03/2017 09:34

I will have to try a porky light at some point, see what the fuss is all about.

In other news my insides feel awful sfyer the takeaway AND I've got a banging headache.

BasinHaircut · 02/03/2017 09:35

*after - I'm not sure what syfer is...

harverina · 02/03/2017 09:50

Hi everyone

Thanks for the advice earlier in the week. I joined a class on Tuesday morning and started the plan there and then so today is day 3.

Been ok so far. Trying to give up chocolate cakes and biscuits for lent (for health reasons rather than religious really) so that has helped me not to use my syns on rubbish.

I'm missing crisps but was eating too many so trying not to eat them too much too.

I've not used my b options at all yet - not on purpose but because I haven't downloaded the app properly yet. Need to register tonight with my membership number. So haven't been sure what to have and don't eat a lot of bread usually anyway.

Made lentil soup this morning so have that with me at work for lunch. Breakfast is a muller light with banana and blueberries.

Emmageddon · 02/03/2017 11:20

Morning all! It's a glorious sunny day here, so I'm going to take my little dog for a long walk along the beach. I bought a lovely glass jar from a charity shop yesterday and I'm going to fill it with pretty pebbles.

I've sorted out a pile of 'fat' clothes too - my SW friends want first dibs before I take it all to the charity shop, so I am washing and ironing the lot today as well.

Keeping myself busy means less time for gazing into the fridge and wondering what to eat next - even when I'm not hungry!!

I have to practice visualisation according to my consultant - visualise myself wearing a strappy top and skinny jeans, instead of visualising myself eating a family-sized bar of Cadbury's. Grin

I saw this on facebook and it made me laugh, so I thought I'd share it.

I've nicked that @00100001, seeing as I have converted myself from being a red wine and cider drinker (not in the same glass) to drinking gin

The problem is, I drink my gin and tonic like it's a pint, and it's gone in 2 gulps. My resolution for March is to add 5 times more tonic than gin, a heap of ice, some sliced lime, and drink s-l-o-w-l-y Gin Grin

ALemonyPea · 02/03/2017 14:18

I'm not a big drinker, only when I socialise, which is once in a blue moon. Used to enjoy red wine, but stopped drinking in the house years ago, for no particular reason.

Love the Cadbury egg meme.

I am back after a 2 week hiatus. Last week was my birthday, which involved a takeaway and cake on the actual day, a night out last weekend with copious amount of prosecco, and an afternoon tea with family the following day, including scones and clotted cream Blush. The plan was to get back on track on Monday but I've had a rotten cold and felt like crap so didn't actually jump back on the wagon until yesterday. I've missed 2 weigh ins now so have to go back Tuesday. Really hoping I can undo some of the damage before then. Today's menu:

B - scrambled eggs and beans
L - batchelors Pasta n sauce with asparagus and broccoli
D - vegetable pasta bake with goats cheese (HEA)
S - mango, Apple, hula hoop pufts (3.5) and a dairy milk little bar (5.5)

I'm weaning myself off the crisps and chocolate gradually whilst keeping within my syns Grin

Shamoffour · 02/03/2017 17:23

Loving the memes!

Bit of a dodgy day on Tuesday. It almost like I'm rewarding myself for losing weight that week my eating crap. It needs to stop! Ive been v good yesterday and today to hopefully limit the damage.

B-coffee
L-ham, cucumber and onion in lettuce wraps. Fruit, yogurt and walnuts for dessert.
D-gammon, eggs and roasted veg.

The porky light thing has kind of passed me by as I'm not a massive sausage eater if I ever do I use Sainsburys be good to yourself Cumberland which are nice and 1 syn.

Groovee · 02/03/2017 18:40

Made the speedy jambalaya from the SW recipes. Was very easy to do but I changed peppers and courgette for mushrooms and babycorn. Would add carrots and green beans next time too! It was very yummy and quick to cook x

Looks nice groovee.

whereareyousleep · 02/03/2017 20:16

I've still not managed to find any porky lights does sound very suspicious on slimming world part though to be suddenly be saying the nutritional information is wrong will wait and see what happens before I get any.

Looks lovely grovvee I need to get a bit more adventurous with things.

Can Hex a/Hex b's be split in half so half milk half cheese etc. Only had 2 cups of tea today so hardly used any milk and only had 1 piece of bread just considering cracker bread with laughing cow triangles if it's free.

BasinHaircut · 02/03/2017 20:28

Apparently the questions around the nutritional info of porky lights was raised by the company that make the SW burgers and hasn't actually been verified as definitely a porky light. The plot thickens! Grin

Dinner tonight was taco plates, without the tacos. 5 syns all in. Yummy.

WI tonight, half a pound on.

God knows why, it's the first week I've managed to stay entirely on plan! This was going to be my grand experiment to see how much I'd lose if I didn't have a takeaway and bottle of wine at the weekend...hmm, maybe it's catching up with me.

Part of me knows rationally that everyone has those weeks and it's just one of the great mysteries of life. Another part of me is Distinctly Perturbed.

Just going to tell myself 'it happens' and keep on keeping on!

FaithAgain · 02/03/2017 21:11

WI for me. Maintained. Feel a bit meh. Had a dodgy week, not been careful enough and it caught up with me!

Clash sorry about your gain. Best thing (if you can bear to) is give it another week and see what happens!

Groovester · 02/03/2017 21:56

Evening all, just in from class and lost 3lbs. Delighted to have got my 3 1/2 stones award too. Just eaten a sausage sandwich (porky lights if you will!) with brown sauce and some pick n mix sweeties in celebration. Back on it tomorrow.
