Did anyone ever feel nausea or anything when starting SW? Think my body is adjusting to the 'no fat' (not that it was overally bad before but not having any now. It's making me feel really ugh so just craving a big kebab so given in and ordered one lamb shish salad and chips! I need to give my body what it wants (that's what I'm telling myself anyways)! 🙄🙁

ALemonyPea · 01/03/2017 16:55

There is hell on on my group page on FB about the porky light revelation. Such a shame they're not as they are, they're the closest to proper sausages I found, probably why then if they're not half a syn each. Back to Heck chicken sausages it is then.

Goosey, I felt bloated when I fist started, but didn't crave fatty foods. I suppose every one is different, don't sabotage yourself. Syn the kebab and reduce your syns the rest of the week.

Thanks lemony! I dunno what this nausea feeling is I know I need to drink more water tho! Back on it tomorrow :) been good all week mind!

I heard about the porky lights too! 😞

pandorawithtreaclecolouredhair · 01/03/2017 17:20

Reeling with shock RE Porky Light news...

PippaFawcett · 01/03/2017 17:27

See my post upthread where I ate a WHOLE packet over the course of a day thinking I was still under my syns!

PippaFawcett · 01/03/2017 17:28

And do you know what, I bloody knew it was too good to be true as they didn't taste light at ALL. I should have been less greedy.

ChessieFL · 01/03/2017 17:41

I also thought they were too nice to be half a syn! Makes you wonder what else might be wrong though doesn't it?

PippaFawcett · 01/03/2017 17:47

Yes, definitely. It has made me think that calorie counting or taking a pragmatic approach to eating might be more sensible than counting 'syns'.

Emmageddon · 01/03/2017 18:36

Or stick to syns (I still hate that word, I prefer to say treats) that are tried and tested, like a curly-wurly if you fancy chocolate.

I still don't understand why only some brands of sandwich thins can count as Hexb, yet all contain the same calories.

I am also still annoyed that I scoffed an entire packet of sugar-free Tunes when I had a sore throat, blithely thinking they'd be 1 syn or less and they were 4½ ffs. Aldi sugar-free sweets, same ingredients bar menthol, are only ½ a syn.

Blueemeraldagain · 01/03/2017 18:51

Hey. I'm going to confess to being an idiot.

I forgot to go to group. Second week. Just mixed up the days (Tuesday/Thursday). Silly.

There is another group that meets on Thursday nearish me. Can I just pop in to weigh?

ChessieFL · 01/03/2017 18:52

Emma the HEB choices are all about the fibre content so the ones that aren't HEB presumably haven't got the same amount of fibre in.

WaitrosePigeon · 01/03/2017 19:08

Yes, syns really mean sins, don't they? They try and pass it off as synology..

ClashCityRocker · 01/03/2017 19:11

My Facebook group is hilarious with the porky light news. Apparently slimming world believe the nutritional information on the packet is incorrect - so even calorie counting would have been incorrect, I think. The way some people are going on you'd think SW had drop-kicked their first born..

Also a lot of speculation on FB that slimming world are just upping the Syns to try and sell more of their own product instead which I think is a bit tinfoil-hat...SW sausages taste of arse. If it was the last sausage on the market I would eat it.

goosey I was super bloated and a bit nauseous for the first month. Peppermint tea and windeze got me through and it's settled down now. I do think your body needs time to adjust.

ALemonyPea · 01/03/2017 19:17

BlueEmerald, yes you can go to another group, just message your consultant and let her know.

If you look on the Porky Whites FB page they're saying that SE are in the wrong. I do think SW are trying to get everyone to buy their products, a bit like the drama over the Asda ready meals. M&S skinny sausages have the same nutritional info roughly, and still half a syn.

OP posts:
ClashCityRocker · 01/03/2017 19:29

That's a bit worrying alemony, if SW are doing it to discourage members from buying non-SW food. Members need to be able to trust that Syns are accurate and they are not just being conned into rejecting certain foods.

I haven't come across anything SW that I particulalry like! If they want people to eat their products the should make them taste less like arse, I reckon.
Although tbf I'm not a big convenience food eater so tend to stay away from ready meals full stop.

I think SW are saying that the nutritional information would make them half a syn, but they believe the nutritional information to be wrong.

BasinHaircut · 01/03/2017 20:06

I've not had a porky light yet but the M&S skinny sausages are utterly tasteless.

Will be interested to see how it pans out though, especially if SW say they won't syn them because Porky lights won't share the full info with them etc, same as they did with the Asda meals. I'm not a big sausage or ready meal person so I'm not that bothered either way, but one does wonder....

Takeaway has been ordered here. Was going to have one the weekend (probably) and I did say we would get one once DH lost his first stone, and this morning the scales showed a stone down exactly. Had a loooong day at work and had SW quiche on the meal plan for tonight and couldn't be arsed to make it so decided to have takeaway tonight instead on the basis that at least I'll have longer to rectify the situation until next Monday's weigh in.

harderandharder2breathe · 01/03/2017 20:49

I've got the Heck chicken ones for the first time, hopefully they'll stay as 1/2 syn! not tried them yet as dinner tonight was 2 pancakes at Brownies Blush

I had good intentions for today! I really did! Bought shapers popcorn for an morning snack and didn't even look at chocolate. Then Asda delivery arrived and quorn meatballs wouldn't all fit in the freezer so that was lunch (with 2 small pears for speed), then 2 pancakes at Brownies for dinner with sugar and lemon.

Oh well it's better than most days last week, I have a ham salad in work fridge for tomorrow's lunch. I should sort some free snacks out to take but I'm bloody knackered after cooking 25 pancakes!

BasinHaircut · 01/03/2017 20:58

Feel sick Blush

Emmageddon · 01/03/2017 21:13

I haven't tried the SW sausages, do they really taste like arse? I did buy the Thai green curry and wasn't impressed, it was very bland and the chicken was reconstituted, so an unpleasant texture. And friends have tried their salady things and say they all taste strongly of vinegar and pepper.

@BasinHaircut why do you feel sick? Too many Porky Lights?

Another question, do consultants get a discount on the SW ready meals? I'm only asking because that's all my consultant ever eats. She posts her meals on FB daily, and apart from her overnight oats, every meal is made by SW.

LavenderRains · 01/03/2017 21:17

I've got loads of porky lights in the freezer! It does make u wonder if SW are jealous Grin and what else will be bought up next.
I've not had anything made by SW that doesn't taste like shite.
Did SW do the same with the asda meals then?

harderandharder2breathe · 01/03/2017 21:19

I have a tiny freezer so frozen ready meals aren't really space efficient for me Sad I order from Asda every few weeks though, Iceland is a

LavenderRains · 01/03/2017 21:20

emma I bought 2 SW meals when I first started just to keep in the freezer, they both tasted of vinegar and the sausages are awful! Not tried the soups.

harderandharder2breathe · 01/03/2017 21:20

Iceland is a trek for me as I dont drive and my small freezer makes it hard to do an order-full

ClashCityRocker · 01/03/2017 21:34

Yup, they taste of arse.

God knows how, because the diet itself gives you loads of scope for tasty meals.

C'mon basin I'm living vicariously through you with your takeaway tonight! What did you have? I must admit, I'm finding I am physically less capable of eating my normal portions at the takeaway which must be a good thing.

whatonaschoolnight · 01/03/2017 21:40

Thanks for explaining the healthy extras and the SP days.
I haven't tried any of the foods from slimming world yet as i don't have an Iceland near me, after your descriptions on here I am not in a rush to try the either.
