Well done Sham.

Weigh in tonight. Started Iron tablets last week and the constipation has kicked in. Fully expect a maintain or gain. I've gone through all the fibre signs on free food and eaten so much on a hope it will move.

Still have my period which started in January!

00100001 · 28/02/2017 11:04

+0.5 lbs for me, but my exercise has increased so not disappointed.

However! We had a stand in consultant this week. And she gave me a SAS log Confused

Would you expect to be given SAS after a one off 0.5lb gain after a week of increased exercise?

alibongo5 · 28/02/2017 11:27

Sorry, what's an SAS log - sounds scary!

Frouby · 28/02/2017 11:46

Morning all

Ds has kindly shared his bug with me and I feel shocking. Coughing and sneezing everywhere and no energy whatsoever. Sigh. Have loads to do this week too.

Well done losers!

Todays food.

B. Coffee and a hifi as I felt lousy
L. Tin of chicken soup. 10.5 syns but I don't care, I need something and don't have any made and really cba to buy veg and make it.
T. Steak etc I didn't do last night as I felt ill. Might not manage it tonight either. Got dds parents evening, my mum to pick up and drop off to watch ds while I go and I really don't feel brilliant.

Hoping I feel better after some soup. It's wi tomorrow morning as well.

Hubcapdiamondstarhalo · 28/02/2017 12:47

Hello, and congrats on the loss Sham. Hope your bug doesn't last too long Frouby.
First wi this morning and 4lb off, so a good start in spite of me thinking I'd eaten far too much. Have eaten banana pancakes, fruit & yogurt for brunch then will have roast chicken for an early-ish dinner. Out to see Jack Whitehall tonight so probably a couple of g&ts for syns to add to the gravy ones.
Have a good day everyone.

PositiveAttitude · 28/02/2017 13:19

Welcome newbies and well done losers! Grin

00100001 No, I wouldn't expect an SAS with a one off 0.5lb gain. The only time an SAS has been discussed in our group was when someone had put on for a number of weeks and said she had no idea why.
Ali an SAS log, as far as I understand it is a sheet like a food diary sheet, but it gets you to think about everything you eat and why you are eating it and its done to highlight any areas where you may e subconsciously undoing your good work.

WI for me tonight and I am feeling very nervous. I have worked out that stress causes me weightloss problems - well, stress has been mad for the past week with my dad in hospital. And then to top it all yesterday we had a meeting about him being discharged today so that he could be in the same nursing home as my mum. I was so happy, he was so excited, and finally it looked as if life was going to improve......... 2 hours after I left him I had a call from the hospital - dad had a fall, broken neck of femur surgery needed asap. Angry Operation was planned for last night, then told it would be this morning, then this afternoon, and now sometime tomorrow. dad is zonked on morphine and looks like death. I have been nominated by my brother and sisters to go and ask some awkward questions of the ward sister tomorrow because dad was supposed to walk with a frame and 2 nurses and I dont understand how the fall happened. (I was a staff nurse on an orthopaedic ward many years ago, hence being nominated! Hmm )
And then this morning, on my way to work, doing a favour to someone else and going miles out of my way I got a flat tyre. I am useless at anything remotely car related, so had to leave the car and get DD3 to come and rescue me. DH is now bemoaning the fact he is going to have to go and sort it out after work later.

After WI I am going to have some pancakes and to hell with it, I will probably have syrup and ice cream too!!

BasinHaircut · 28/02/2017 13:48

PA you have really been through it lately, fair play for still keeping up with SW at all! Hope your dad is ok and you get some answers Flowers.

I'm having a hungry day. Had my lunch at 11:40 and so now I'm going to probably need something else before dinner. I'm working from home but DS and MIL are here and so working is not going well and I'm too distracted which means I'm bored-hungry rather than actually hungry. Got a 2hr come call at half 2 so that should keep me out of the fridge.

Id usually meal plan for next week (starting this Saturday) on a Tuesday but I am just feeling so uninspired today.

Group really irritated me last night too. I was fed up of listening to people going on about NOT actually following the plan but still annoyed that they gained or had only a small loss. There was one woman who the consultant was trying to advise, who essentially snapped at her saying 'I know the theory but it's not my fault I don't like vegetables' and stonewalling any suggestions. Another woman was annoyed that she only lost 2lbs and she needs to lose more to make it worth her paying a fiver a week, but absolutely refusing to give up chocolate cake. Again stonewalling suggestions on SW friendly ways to get chocolate fixes. I don't know why it got to me last night, up until now I've quite enjoyed the group.

BasinHaircut · 28/02/2017 13:50

*conference call

ALemonyPea · 28/02/2017 15:09

Oh goodness PA, your poor dad. The hospital doesn't sound like they've given him the best care, questions do need to be asked. Have some cake woman, and sod the syns. Hope his operation happens quickly.

We had one woman who said the reason she had put on 4 stone in 6 months was solely down to the fact she stopped exercising. Hmm

She said she hasn't got time to exercise because she gets home at 6.30 then has to cook, eat and wash up. Apparently this takes her until 8pm after which she doesn't want to do anything.

My suggestion of meal prepping was shot down with "we only have a freezer drawer "

So I suggested double cooking and save get half for the next day. So she just needed to bung it in the microwave and then she can use the spare time to go for a walk. Oh no she can't do that because she really enjoys cooking Confused Hmm

Some people just don't want any help.

BasinHaircut · 28/02/2017 15:35

You know what I think would really benefit some people at SW? If they run some cooking workshops. I think a lot of it is down to people not seeking out recipes or being intimidated by the length some of the ingredients lists or just having no confidence in thier cooking skills.

so many people seem to live on hard boiled eggs and salad for lunch, followed by a muller light, and I can totally understand why those people struggle because that is so boring!

I don't mean to sound smug but I have professional experinece in both cooking and nutrition and so some things are so obvious to me that I often don't realise that others don't know x or y, but could probably help people if I thought they would bloody listen!

SW really is genius in the sense that it makes you choose a healthy overall diet if you actually follow the plan (or thereabouts) and is quite unique in the sense that it prohibits nothing.

I do think the delivery of the diet advice is where it falls down though, where some basic nutrition and cooking education could make it so much more successful.

ChessieFL · 28/02/2017 15:57

Agree Basin. My consultant is good in that if someone mentions a recipe she will ask how they made it as well as the ingredients and makes the point that not everyone knows how to make chips/quiche/whatever. It is relatively hard to stick to if you rely a lot on convenience foods so knowing how to cook is essential to get the most from SW.

WaitrosePigeon · 28/02/2017 16:18

Hi everyone,

I've just had Pasta N Sauce and it came up as FREE on the app. I had it as a snack as I was hungry. I know it's free but am I still ok to have dinner later? I'm concerned about how much I can eat..

BasinHaircut · 28/02/2017 17:05

I think that is a judgement call depending on your overall intake for the day/week etc.

I wouldn't have one as a snack, that would be more of a meal for me. But as a one off on a particularly ravenous day I'm sure it would be fine.

Even though SW doesn't count calories you still need to be mindful that everything you eat has an energy content and so it is possible to overeat.

ALemonyPea · 28/02/2017 17:20

Binary, people like that can't be helped, they'll always have some excuse.

Waitrose, that is fine. It's better to have speed for snacks, but free food is also fine as long as you're not eating it constantly.

Basin, a cooking class would be perfect for some people at my group. My consultant has 7 classes, so a lot of people through her doors and we all use the same FB group, page. The amount of people who have those cup pastas and boring looking salads because they need to add the speed is depr swing. You can have so much more tasty food, why are they not taking advantage of it.

Thanks Smile

LavenderRains · 28/02/2017 17:46

Well done shamStar
hope you feel better very soon frouby it's awful feeling crap when you have so much to do.
PA your poor dad, that's awful & shouldn't have been allowed to happenFlowers
I'm having pancakes tonight, have had minimal syns for the past few days.
Enjoy your pancakes whoever is indulging🍳

ClashCityRocker · 28/02/2017 18:26

Well done losers!

Ooh frouby hope you're on the mend soon.

Totally agree that a bit more input on the cookery side of things would be good for some people at group. I find some of the slimming world recipes a bit, erm, ropey, but there's loads of tasty nutritious meals that can be cooke d free or low syn.

In fact, I reckon 90% of our regular meals are easily adapted for SW.

I must say our consultant is very keen on us explaining how to do things though.

pa hope you get some answers soon.

LavenderRains · 28/02/2017 18:55

🐷 omg I've just eaten some pancakes (4) and I feel so full up! Only had sweeter and lemon juice but wish I hadn't bothered. Not felt so uncomfortable for ages.Confused

ALemonyPea · 28/02/2017 19:02

Hope you're feeling bettter soon Frouby 💐

I've not had any pancakes today 😇However if today had been crisp Tuesday then I'd have made myself a pile of them and dived right in, making a crisp angel on the floor.

gooseygander88 · 28/02/2017 19:03

Hey all! Happy Pancake Day to those indulging! I was impressed with myself, made pancakes using porridge oats so my HXB and syned and enjoyed them with chocolate sauce :) were really nice and so filling I couldn't finish them!
I agree with you about the people not being adventurous with SW and only eating the same old! There's so much choice online and you and you can practically make everything 'good'! 😁 I enjoy it anyways lol!

Blueemeraldagain · 28/02/2017 19:16

Hey! So I've been slimming worlding for almost a week now. Definitely eating better and being much more conscious of what I eat. Probably still need to cut back on the wine a bit.

I've just had a text from my consultant reminding me to bring something for the slimmer of the week basket.

What do I bring?

Groovee · 28/02/2017 19:20

Lost a pound. Am delighted.

Off to make oaty pancakes x

alibongo5 · 28/02/2017 19:22

Oh PA - so sorry to hear all your problems - I do hope you get them sorted soon. Everything seems to be happening to you and I do hope you get answers about your dad and he recovers to be able to move.

Just got back from WI and I'm so happy - lost 3.5 lb! And so got me my 10 club certificate. I literally did a little dance!

Now got 4lb to go to get to target so I'm hoping to get that in a couple of weeks if I can - I was persuaded to go for 4 as a target for next week but I don't think that's going to happen!

whereareyousleep · 28/02/2017 19:24

1lb on for me gutted. Will do food diary next week and see what's happening found it tough this week but still thought I'd done ok probably not enough speed. Congratulations other losers though.
