I don't think I'm ever going to spend syns on avocados Grin although four packets of quavers have just accidentally been gobbled up I think I've got the stress eating out of my system- and only for 18 syns?

Also do you have a recipe for the pork and lemon meatballs? They sound delicious! Not sure what orzo is though? Ouzo?

ALemonyPea · 26/02/2017 14:00

Pork and lemon meatballs, sounds yum! Orzo is a type of pasta isn't it?

That's so sad improbable. How did they know your address yet you have had no letters about it?

ClashCityRocker · 26/02/2017 14:15

Jesus improbable you've been through the mill! I would definitely seek advice on this - no way should bailiffs just turn up!

Goulash for tea tonight with veg - syn free.

Syns will be going on a nice bottle of red - 23 in total but I've been low on Syns for the past few days.

Hubcapdiamondstarhalo · 26/02/2017 14:46

Hello, mind if I jump in? I joined a SW group on Tuesday, and have stuck with the plan well enough in so far as what I've eaten goes. I've lurked on the thread for a few days and its been so interesting. I had just come to my own conclusion that eating more or less the portion sizes I've been used to (albeit of healthier protein and carbs) and just rearranging them on the plate to make room for extra veg, wasn't quite what SW had in mind! Grin I have been feeling uncomfortably stuffed. I will consciously be going for smaller portions from now.
Also thanks to this thread I've just been to 2 local Aldi's looking for an air-fryer, but without luck. I did walk round one of them clutching a bar of Bubbly chocolate mentioned upthread, but managed to put it back as I wasn't going to queue just for that. Probably a good thing as I was past my lunchtime and hungry and I'm not completely sure it would have made it all the way home.
Anyway today so far has been virtuous, B bitesize shredddies and a banana, and L Muller Lite yogurt and a fruit salad. Dinner is up in the air at the moment with a few possibilities.

Hubcapdiamondstarhalo · 26/02/2017 14:49

Yes, orzo is a pasta shaped like little pellets or grains of rice. I've had it a couple of times but find the texture a bit slimy in the mouth.

ALemonyPea · 26/02/2017 15:15

Welcome Hub.

I'm tempted to go get an air fryer from Aldi for £20. I already have one, but another won't hurt will it?

Welcome hubcap ...I find smallet plates and putting the speed on first helps with portion control. My old plates were square and rather large so I was just sticking speed on to my normal meal, rather than using it to replace a third of the meal Blush

We have an acti fryer. I'm not too keen on it tbh, it seems to mush things up a bit. It's quite an old model though.

Hubcapdiamondstarhalo · 26/02/2017 16:02

Lemony Thank you, and good luck getting an Aldi air fryer. I suppose I could go further afield, but ... nah. I'll let DH do my SW style veg for now as he's so good at it, (that's what I keep telling him. Grin ) Didn't get an air fryer - but did get barged out of the way by a woman grabbing the last red mini-fryer. I was standing there trying to read the box to see if it was what I was looking for, but obviously I was a threat to her having a red one. Hmm

Thanks also Clash. I agree a smaller plate would be a good thing for me to force the portion sizes down.

TheImprobableGirl · 26/02/2017 17:36

Welcome hub
Thanks again all- I'm going to give myself today to swallow it up, try and get some advice tomorrow, and see if I can beg a tent off someone for the summer Grin

The air fryers sound really interesting- going to look into the halo as they sound popular!

OrianaBanana · 26/02/2017 18:41

Yes orzo's just small bits of pasta, just a change really! The recipe's in the new free and easy book, and it is indeed all free (and easy). I'll take a photo when I can (under a feeding baby atm). The meatballs are yum but the sauce is basically just passata Confused It's ok though.

BasinHaircut · 26/02/2017 18:49

improbable that doesn't found right to me but I would have done the same and paid. Imagine if you hadn't had the funds though, sounds awful and terrifying for the children, so confusing for them Flowers for you.

In other news the Chinese buffet was a semi success. There was no steamed or boiled rice option so I went for a bit of both egg fried rice and plain fried noodles. Then I had beef in black bean sauce with peppers, onions and carrots, and I got loads of veg, plus mushrooms in oyster sauce which were absolutely delicious. Made sure the plate was a third speed.

Had one return trip to the buffet just for a single duck (but it wasn't duck it was pork) pancake and skipped the desserts completely - which wasn't hard as I don't like the desserts in those places anyway.

All in all I'm pretty pleased with that. Considering getting the air fryer back out for chips for tea Grin

ALemonyPea · 26/02/2017 19:50

Buffet sounds lovely Basin, you did a lot better than I would have done. My problem is the little starter type things. Mmmmmm

BasinHaircut · 26/02/2017 19:55

I almost pretended the rest of the food wasn't there lemony. I sought out what I wanted and paid no attention to anything else.

It helped that DS is a bit of a horror in restaurants and so it wasn't exactly a relaxing leisurely meal.....

Normally it would have been a big plate of starters and then 2 plates of mains. I probably would have had a dessert too even though I don't really like anything they have - just out of greed and bad habit.

Chips are in the air fryer, just having egg and chips with a bit of grated cheese for HEXA. No speed but TBH there is nothing much in because shopping is coming in the morning.

Groovee · 26/02/2017 20:03

Made chicken tikka from the magazine! I cut back on the spices as a friend told me it was too hot for her. But it was really good.

Went to IKEA and won a blimming donut, kids ate it!

Well today is going to be a right off I think!
It started well enough with fruit and yogurt. Then got invited out for lunch and back to a friend to watch the EFL cup.
lunch was a carvery so had lots of speed and 2 small roasties. Had ice cream afterwards.
but back at the house my friend laid on crisps, cheese straws (to die for!) Home made cup cakes and chocolate crispy cakesConfused what's a girl to do?!
I'm afraid I sampled it all which is awful after a huge roastBlush
I will draw a line and start tomorrow afresh!

Groovee · 26/02/2017 20:21

Oh Lavender I would have done too

emwithme · 26/02/2017 22:55

I have totally lost my SW mojo. If someone sees an unattended mojo running around, can they send it back my way please, otherwise I will end up the size of a beached whale.

noodlezoodle · 26/02/2017 23:28

1lb lost at yesterday's weigh in. Not the 2lb I was hoping for but it's a start. This has been my first real week back on it and although I thought I'd been eating healthily, I was shocked at how slack I'd got and how much I was 'cheating' - for example using my HEB at breakfast but then still having a wrap for lunch - was feeling all virtuous that the wrap wasn't 2 slices of bread but then I checked and it was 5 syns. Gah.

I've always had cereal for breakfast before, but I've just put my first ever batch of egg breakfast muffins in the oven to try as an alternative. We'll see how it goes!

I just went back online to the SW site to log in and weigh in and my membership has expired. To be honest I don't know if I'm going to renew it - I was only using the site to weigh in, it's the American site and it's absolutely hopeless to navigate around and even the syns calculator isn't good, so I think I probably prefer to weigh in here with you all - you're much more knowledgeable and supportive to each other than that website anyway!

Em I'm sure you'll find your mojo again soon. You must have a lot of other things on your mind at the moment!

loveslipstick · 27/02/2017 06:29

WI in this morning and I have lot another 3.5 pound so my running total is 1stone 3.5lb although because I am so overweight you can't tell any difference yet!

Groovee · 27/02/2017 07:30

Well done Love x

gooseygander88 · 27/02/2017 07:58

Well done love Smile

Hubcapdiamondstarhalo · 27/02/2017 08:02

Brilliant, love.

BasinHaircut · 27/02/2017 08:07

love that's awesome! Doesn't matter how much you have to lose, that's 3.5lbs you will never see again so don't downplay it!

I think I'll be ok for a maintain tonight need to put those pesky scales away so I'm feeling good today. Just hope I'm right!

Might have my pancakes tonight so that I can get them out of the way and be really good the rest of the week. I LOVE pancakes so I'm having them off plan and to my heart's content.

BasinHaircut · 27/02/2017 08:20

em how about trying to approach it a different way for now? Keep meals on plan but not worry so much about the bits in between? Or something?
