Lemony I sometimes have a (very small) pizza on an SP day too! So exciting! em congrats all round - you must be buzzing!

My A and B choices are usually very boring - this week weetabix and milk every day for breakfast (with berries of course for Speed). Or sometimes I live a little and have muesli instead.

I keep thinking I would like to add nuts or seeds or something to some salads for a change but have never got round to looking it up. Or ring the changes with crackers and cheese instead but again never seem to get round to it.

I'm going on a longish train journey tomorrow down to London. Usually I'd either buying some sandwiches or have some snacks to take on the train or get a burger or something at the station. Any ideas what I can take with me/buy which will be easy but tasty to split up the journey? I will probably take some HiFis for B choice. Am planning on a few beers so will use my syns (and then some!) on that.

Emmageddon · 24/02/2017 12:56

alibongo5 cherry tomatoes, chicken pieces (no skin obviously), lots of fruit, a ham butty made with a thin, for syns or hexb, ff yoghurt, grapes, apples, plums, fizzy water or can of diet pop.

@PippaFawcett have a look online for syns, on the SW website, under weightloss tools, just type it in.

ALemonyPea · 24/02/2017 12:58

Welcome Pippa. There are 2.5 syns per potato waffle, and the hoops are a free food, so enjoy!

Is there anything we can help you with wrt the plan?

I might add nuts into the mix for my HEB

Thank you Lemony! I am mostly just confused but I need to spend some time familiarising myself with the website, which I don't think is great, and getting to know the plan.

I wish there was an app where we could scan everything - that would be so useful and I'm sure my friend said you can do it on WW.

Groovee · 24/02/2017 13:30

Welcome Pippa! The scanner for barcodes has been asked for and passed on to the techs team but it may take time.

Definitely spend time reading the books and planning is a good way forward.

PippaFawcett · 24/02/2017 13:37

Thanks Groovee. Do you know if they actually plan to build one or whether it is just that they have had the feedback? I couldn't believe there wasn't one to be honest. I'm sure when I am more familiar with the plan it will be easy, but it is a pain now!

ALemonyPea · 24/02/2017 13:37

Are you doing it online or at group? I'd find the website a bit confusing as well without the newbie talk.

The basics:

One A choice a day which is your calcium
One B choice a day which is your fibre

Any foods off the free foods list, which is lean cuts of meat, beans, legumes and fresh and veg. There's a massive list.

You should replace a third of your plate with speed foods, which are marked with an S, mostly fruit and vegetables.

Then you can have 5-15 syns a day, which can be anything you like really.

FaithAgain · 24/02/2017 13:47

Hi Pippa. Yes you can scan everything with WW, I did that for a while. I feel that SW is superior in every other way though! Smile

Groovee · 24/02/2017 13:47

I think seeing as it's asked for daily and others apps do it, that it will become a feature.

alibongo5 · 24/02/2017 13:50

Thanks Emmageddon. I had thought about cold chicken and fruit - think I may have to visit a supermarket tonight! I really should have thought of what I wanted to take before now.

PippaFawcett · 24/02/2017 13:53

Thanks Lemony. I'm glad you prefer SW, I chose it because there are more groups in my area so I can always find one to go to.

I am doing it as a group but my leader rattled through it at breakneck speed so I obviously need to put in some time myself reading up on it now too. We have a FB group too but it is like tumbleweed in there which is a shame as I thought that might be a big help.

So here I am instead! So, should a third of my breakfast be speedfood then? So weetabix with milk plus fruit then?

ALemonyPea · 24/02/2017 14:43

Ali, I'd go to M&S and get some little snack things and fruit. They do lovely snack things in the sandwich section that are very low in syns. My favourite is the tandoori king prawn and calamari with yoghurt dip, it's only 1.5 syns.

If adding speed to something makes it weird, then don't do it. You could have some fruit on the side if you wanted, or add strawberries to it. I don't like weetabix, so not sure what speedy fruit would go with it.

OP posts:
PippaFawcett · 24/02/2017 14:51

I like blueberries, strawberries, raspberries and banana on it so I might just keep doing that.

What do you have for breakfast? My other usual is porridge.

alibongo5 · 24/02/2017 14:57

I always thought it seemed weird to have fruit with weetabix until I tried it, now I always have thawed, frozen berries with it and really like it.

I think M&S would be good but it means going after work to the retail park and I feel too lazy at the mo to do that - my train is at 9.45 tomorrow so there's zilch chance of me being ready in time do it then! Maybe come 5 o'clock I'll change my mind and nip there. I must admit, prawn and calamari sounds exactly up my street so I'm warming to the idea! Thanks.

Groovee · 24/02/2017 14:59

For breakfast I have a variety of things. So on a morning work day I have overnight oats, porridge with lots of speedy fruit or weetabix.

If I am working in the afternoon I have fruit and yoghurt then an early lunch at 11am.

If I'm off I might have cereal or an omelette or a cooked breakfast x

OrianaBanana · 24/02/2017 15:09

2.5lbs off today and slimmer of the week! Well chuffed with that, never been SotW before Grin

ALemonyPea · 24/02/2017 15:16

Well done on the SotW Oriana.

Breakfast I usually have scrambled eggs and mushrooms, baked oats, fruit and yoghurt or ryvita. I'm not a big breakfast person really.

Dinners are usually a salad

And tea I like to have a variety of things, nobody should eat the same stuff all the time, you'll only get bored otherwise.

BasinHaircut · 24/02/2017 15:20

Woo hoo oriana!

pippa I don't have any speed with my weetabix but my mid morning snack will be speed (usually an apple or pear) so get it in that way.

FYI bananas aren't speed. Most fruit and veg are but something's catch you out like grapes, parsnips and peas.

LavenderRains · 24/02/2017 15:24

Well done orianaStar gives you a boost doesn't it?! Was there anything nice in the winners basket?Smile
welcome pippa it can be confusing to start with but I'm sure you will soon get your head around it. Stick on this thread tho for lots of tips and support.
I usually only have speed for breakfast if I actually have separate fruit. For eg if I have poached eggs on toast I will have a couple of oranges or some raspberries afterwards.
look on 'pinch of nom' & '2 chubby cubs' websites. Lots of recipes on there.

harderandharder2breathe · 24/02/2017 15:56

Bleurgh this week is another write off, far too much junk at work Blush currently on a gain, hoping for miracles to get it back to s maintain by wednesdsy

BasinHaircut · 24/02/2017 15:58

Yep pippa I wouldn't worry too much about speed with breakfast if you are going down the cereal route, especially if you are just adding to what you would have normally eating as that's just counter-productive IMO.

My breakfast is pretty small compared to what I eat for lunch and dinner so that's where I know I need to concentrate on making sure I have a third speed. It's important to make it a third of the actual meal rather than eat a portion of 'normal' size and then eat additional speed. E.g for spag Bol I have a third pasta, third bolognaise and a third speed (usually broccoli) rather than 50/50 pasta and sauce IYSWIM. So I've reduced my pasta and sauce intake by a third each and replaced it with speed.

OrianaBanana · 24/02/2017 16:05

There was some eggs, fruit, broccoli, a mug shot and an avocado Confused

It's inspired me for this week though. I've aimed for three but if I get four I'm in the next stone. Either is unlikely but it will keep me on track hopefully!

B - all bran and milk (HExA1 and B1), coffee
L - ham, bread (HExB2), flora light (0.5) babybels (HExA2), carrot, satsuma, tea, hifi light (3)
D - lasagne (mince, pasta, speed plus HExA3), broccoli
S - latte (HExA4), biscoff x 2 (3), Cadburys snack (5), Fibre One bar (4), banana, apple, pear

15.5 syns oops! Forgot I'd had all the HExBs when I had the hifi light.

Groovee · 24/02/2017 16:22

Has anyone used all bran or weetabix for an overnight oats sorta thing?

BasinHaircut · 24/02/2017 16:33

Our basket is fruit only, is that not the rule everywhere??

ALemonyPea · 24/02/2017 16:38

Our basket is usually free foods only, preferably speed foods. There is an Asda right next to the group and I get whatever is on special offer nearest the door. Someone also puts a little hand made gift in, not sure who does it and I'm not entirely sure if I find it a bit wanky or not.
