Bibs2014 · 13/09/2016 13:21

DS has not been well so been off here a few days but have mostly stuck with it.

Menu

Cereal and skimmed

Lunch is jacket and chilli with salad

Having a BBQ for dinner so lots of grilled meat and salad - yum

RavenQueen · 13/09/2016 13:37

Buttwing when you make burgers do you just use mince, onions, herbs and egg? Or do you add breadcrumbs? I'm having a go at them tonight and wondered x

froubylou · 13/09/2016 13:41

Hello all

Had an awful shock yesterday. My lovely dsis has thyroid cancer. So yesterdays tea of gammon, new pots and veg was abandoned while I tucked into the gin.

Had 3 35ml g and ts and a small chip butty from chip shop of which I ate half. So although I will have been over syn's it's all I had all day so not too disastrous calorie wise.

Today we are having a bbq tea. Will have a burger and wholemeal roll as heb then lean meat and salad so should be ok.

Not hungry at all so will probably skip lunch. Feel pretty shocked and numb. It's one of the most curable cancers so hopefully she will make a full recovery but it was still aN awful awful shock. She has 4 dcs and her youngest is severely epileptic. Feel heartbroken for her.

Buttwing · 13/09/2016 14:11

Raven-yes, I don't add breadcrumbs I've found if you refrigerate them for a few hours before you cook they seem to stay together better. Sometimes I add chilli or Worcester sauce. I don't eat cheese but I remember someone at group talking about putting a cheese in the middle maybe a babybell? Or something similar with less syns.

Buttwing · 13/09/2016 14:13

Sorry posted too soon!

Frouby so so sorry what awful news, it must have come as a huge shock to you and your family. Have they come up with a plan of care for her yet?

RavenQueen · 13/09/2016 14:37

Oh Frouby I'm so sorry how terrible for you all

EmilyK83 · 13/09/2016 15:40

Somsorryntomhear your news Frouby. If it helps, my friend had thyroid cancer last year, has had it removed and chemo, and is in remission now. Hope the same for your sister.

ALemonyPea · 13/09/2016 15:48

So sorry to hear...

maygirl · 13/09/2016 18:25

So sorry to hear Frouby. I hope she recovers swiftly. My friends sis in law was treated for it recently and is all clear now. She had radioactive treatment which meant chunks of time away from her DC which was tough. BrewFlowers

Flowers Frouby

I'm feeling less menstural now thankfully, hopefully I can behave at the cinema!

froubylou · 13/09/2016 19:21

Thanks everyone. It sounds pretty positive so far. As positive as can be for a cancer diagnosis I suppose.

It just seems so unfair. She is the nicest, kindest, sweetest person I know. She absolutely dotes on her dcs and has had such a rough time. She escaped a really vile abusive relationship a few years ago with her 3 eldest ds's. He really was so abusive despite the nice house and all the luxuries. Managed to get her and her ds's sorted with a decent house after 8 months of disgusting temporary accommodation. Was abused further by her ex who broke in one night and generally had it bloody tough.

Her dd has severe epilepsy and they have nearly lost her a couple of times.

She genuinely lives and dies for her dcs and is heart broken at the thought of being away from them.

But she will have to do what ever it takes to get well again.

Mummyme87 · 13/09/2016 20:06

Oh frouby, that is terribly sad. I hope her treatment is quick and she responds well.

Looking forward to getting back on SW. I feel disgusting. Will stick up tomorrow on foods as working a long day on Thursday

haveacupoftea · 13/09/2016 20:59

Frouby Flowers hope your sister makes a quick recovery.

Breakfast: quinoa with mixed berries and yoghurt
Lunch: half a chicken on wholemeal sandwich (nabbed in a meeting)
Dinner: actifry chips, bacon, leeks and onions

Thought about making the rice puddimg but was stuffed after dinner.

PositiveAttitude · 13/09/2016 21:08

Flowers frouby I hope things work out ok for your Dsis.

Well done on the losses here.

As expected my birthday celebrations, including 4 meals out in one week and 3 massive slabs - not just slices!! of birthday cake have resulted in a 2lb gain here. I can live with that. Back on it now and I aim to lose that next week and be back to where I was. This was my first gain since I started and I totally expected it, so hey ho!!!

Back to college for me tomorrow, too. Emwithme I do believe we are studying the same thing!! Grin Not stalking you, but noticed on another thread.

Bibs2014 · 13/09/2016 21:26

Frouby - so sorry to hear your news Flowers

Missikat · 13/09/2016 21:36

So sorry to hear your sad news Frouby. Hope your sis makes a full recovery and doesn't have to spend too long away from the kids. Some people have such a rough deal, it just isn't fair.

Buttwing, thanks for SP ideas. What do you mean about limiting fruit? What lunches do you normally do?

Today's food -

B - apple overnight oats (HEB) with vanilla muller light and 1.5 syns raisins. Tea

L - chicken Caesar salad, 1tbsp dressing 3.5 syns, cheese as HEA, a few croutons 3 syns, white wine spritzer with soda 4.5 syns.

D - liver, mash, carrots, beans, brocolli, gravy 1 syn

Snack - tiny bit of Bakewell tart (shared with DS!) guess at 3 syns

Total 16.5 syns, whoops! Weigh in tomorrow. Really hoping for a loss!

Buttwing · 13/09/2016 21:45

Missikat a lot of fruit doesn't have an s symbol next to it so you can't eat it on an sp day. Bananas, mango, pineapple and lots of others!!! For lunches I usually do some kind of meat and salad usually chicken and bacon. Or somtimes I make a sandwich, hovis crust less bread is 3 slices for a heb so I make a triple decker and have it with salad.

Bloody weather! We've had horrific storms this evening and two metrolink stations have been hit by lightening which means no trams in central Manchester. Dd is at a school event in town and now can't get home so I have to drive into the city centre and pick her up at 11! Grrrr I'd just had a nice bath and put my pjs on. I've also offered my services as taxi driver to any stranded parents and children so will probably not get in bed til gone midnight!

B-fruit
L- chicken and bacon salad
D-prawn and chilli spaghetti and chocolate froyo
2 hifis, 4 maltesers and skimmed milk

Missikat · 13/09/2016 21:59

Thanks Buttwing! Gives me some ideas.

emwithme · 13/09/2016 23:29

So sorry to hear about your sister, Frouby but hopefully the medics will do their magical medical stuff.

Positive yes, we're studying the same thing. Are you switching onto the 2016 syllabus or sticking with 2013? We've switched to 2016 so no project but have got the synoptic assessment (which we are apparently doing just before Easter). The tutor's been teaching AAT for years and says that actually the content of the course is very similar to previous years so we should all be fine. We've started with the two management accounting units so last night was a quick induction (there's 10 of us doing the evening class, all of whom did level 3 together last year) and then straight into marginal and absorption costing yay

Had an SP day today:

B: Eggy muffins
L: Pastrami salad, apple, pear, satsumas
D: Prawn and cashew (HEB1) stir fry followed by 1/2 a tub of the waitrose chocolate froyo.

HEA: milk
HEB2: Hifi bars.

PositiveAttitude · 14/09/2016 06:45

Em I'm going back for the second year of level 4, so sticking with 2013. I am pretty sure the one we start tonight is the costing one, too. Ours is only going to be a small group tonight. Last year we started the year with 26 people, but for various reasons people left and we ended up with 18, but some of those were second year students, so they have now finished and about 6 were apprentices who were doing double level 4, so just covering it in 1 year. I did it that way for level 3, but thought it would be way too much work for level 4. I've loved doing it and am wondering what I am going to be doing when this is finished. Any idea what you are going to do?
sorry for the very off-topic post!!

EmilyK83 · 14/09/2016 07:49

After stuffed crust pizza last night I'm back on it today - feeling so sluggish this morning!

B - fruit and yoghurt
L - crab stick salad
D - chilli con carne, rice and veg

Skinny latte for HexA (if the weather's nice enough today for me to head out for a walk...), Hifi Lights as HexB. And definitely not as many syns as yesterday...

OP posts:
BasinHaircut · 14/09/2016 09:03

Morning all.

Think I'm coming down with something, yesterday I was blaming TOTM (which it almost is) but actually think I'm getting ill too. Feel like utter shite, sore throat, ears and just general achy weak feeling. This week is literally the most important week of the year at work too. If it wasn't I think I'd have stayed home today but I'm currently dragging myself into work.

Meal plan;
B - weetabix and milk
L - cheese and cous cous and salad
Snack - fruit and yoghurt
D - meant to be smoked haddock and potato rosti recipe from budget meals book but depends whether I can be arsed to actually cook later. Otherwise I think I might just have beans and eggs on toast. If DH is making dinner it's the safest option!
