I have just got in from a wedding evening do. It was lovely and I managed to keep away from the buffet after filling up before I went. All good and MIL and I were even civil to each other, so result all round! Grin
Mil is a size 6 and has never made a secret of the fact that I am not her first choice for her son! 28 years on and I am still not good enough!! She has always been very vocal about my size and makes little comments if we are at a family event and I actually eat anything, just a snide "you don't really want to eat that, do you think you should? etc......" but tonight I gave her no opportunity to say anything. She asked if I was going to have some food and I just replied, "No, thanks, I had dinner at home" I feel very upbeat, rather than other times when she has managed to make me feel terrible about myself.

I am now sat here waiting for the washing machine to finish cos my dopey DD1 forgot to turn it on when she put her uniform in and she needs it at 6am in the morning! Hmm
I have just had a bag of Aldi cheesy curls (Aldi Quavers) but they are less Syns than the original, so only 3 Syns. now I could eat another packet, but I will resist! Tiredness makes me hungry. Blush

Went to see Jason Bourne last night straight from work. Could easily eat a whole sharing bag of Revels at the cinema so stopped off at Tesco and grabbed some prawns and seafood sticks instead with a Coke Zero. Felt a bit silly munching these instead but they sure as heck ensured I stayed on plan Wink

feralcat19 · 29/07/2016 07:01

Followed by watermelon when I got home (but then I dreamt of eating chocolate which shows what was really on my mind!)

EmilyK83 · 29/07/2016 07:20

Well done Em! And happy anniversary Comeon!

beachsands · 29/07/2016 07:46

puppydogmummy · 29/07/2016 08:05

Woke today feeling very yukky, exhausted with sore throat. But last day of working on a summer project with kids so any wonder in so done in! But feeling this is my danger spot, tired sore and easily temped u crap food. Help keep me away from the biscuit tin!Shock

emwithme · 29/07/2016 09:36

chough they're not muffin muffins but breakfast muffins aka mini quiches (fry off onion, mushroom, bacon - whatever you fancy really. Beat 3 eggs with 150g cottage cheese. Mix with veggies, top with a halved cherry tomato and pop into a silicon muffin tin and then into the oven (180 fan, 200c, gas 6) for half an hour. This makes six (which does me two days). Apparently they can be frozen but I haven't done that myself yet.

I really want to get my holiday weight off this week so it's mostly going to be fish and SP days, as DH is off playing soldiers on annual camp with his Army Cadets. He's very much a "meat and potatoes" bloke!

Today's food:

Breakfast: Brekkie muffins
Lunch: Chicken salad, apple, pear, satsuma
Dinner: Steak, corn, asparagus, mushrooms, salad.
HEA: Milk
HEB1: Wholemeal thin
HEB2: Hifi bars

EmilyK83 · 29/07/2016 09:36

Hi beach!

Puppy - for times like that I put all my syns for the day in a bowl, and know that I can't have any more - plus I make sure I have loads of speed fruit and veg like carrot and celery sticks chopped up in the fridge if I need to snack! Good luck!

Today's plan for me:

B - fruit and HexA skinny latte
L - leftover orzo salad with cucumber, celery, tomato, peppers and ham
D - Birdseye fish inspirations with mash and veg

Dried fruit as my HexB. Managed to finish yesterday on 6 syns, hoping that the 9 saved from yesterday and the 5 from Weds will help to account for all the extras I had on Tues night, haha. Aiming for under 10 today.

On a separate note, I got my weighted hula hoop out yesterday for the first time in months. I always forget how bruised I end up feeling when I've not used it for a while!

chough · 29/07/2016 14:18

em, thank you for the muffin recipe, I will definitely make them. I've made similar, as a quiche, but wouldn't have thought of having for breakfast: a good idea, as it would save my "b" choice.
My SW quiches are the subject of derision from DH (" A quiche with no pastry? So it's just an omelette cooked in the oven, then?")
I take no notice, and he's quick enough to eat it too.

ALemonyPea · 29/07/2016 14:58

Em, my DS1 is in cadets and away to annual camp when we get back from our little break next week. Keeps him out of my hair and one less child to moan aboutnhowmbored he is.

Woke up famished this morning, not surprising after the lack of food yesterday. Going to attempt lasagne with quark instead of white sauce and my HEA of cheese in top.fingers crossed it works.

B: fruit, yoghurt, hifi bar
D: ham and pease pudding salad
T: lasagne

Emptynestx2 · 29/07/2016 15:08

LemonyPea - let us know how the lasagne goes - hope it's nice

emwithme · 29/07/2016 15:36

Lemony at RAF St Mawgan? That's where DH is off to. He is a bit annoyed though because he goes down this weekend for the adult bit which he is pleasantly referring to as "a weekend of training courses on how not to bum children before returning to Somerset Sunday night, then back to Cornwall on Monday morning having done coach duty (lucky him!)

chough it is excellent for saving the B choice...I don't like having mine for breakfast because it removes choice for the rest of the day (Along with most of my HEA option too if I have cereal). It's also handy because it's SP so I can either do a whole SP day if I have salad for lunch (need to bring it to work because the only options near me are a bakery or a chip shop) or a normal EE day if I fancy carbs with dinner.

ALemonyPea · 29/07/2016 16:44

No, I live in the north east, so they're going to Otterburn.

Breakfast muffins are great. I sometimes put cheese on and have it as an A choice as struggle with that sometimes.

Lasagne cooking in the oven. I added salt and pepper to the quark to hopefully give it a bit more flavour.

emwithme · 29/07/2016 17:34

For quark - I find it's nice if you mix up some mustard powder to a paste then mix it in with the quark. Works well to make a cheesy mash topping for a cottage pie.

ALemonyPea · 29/07/2016 17:47

Lasagne was the mutts nuts. Made an individual one for myself as wasn't sure what it would be like, but will definitely be doing a full size one with quark next time. Yum!

Mustard powder in quark is genius!

Emptynestx2 · 29/07/2016 18:09

Ooh that's interesting! So just the quark? I've not used it before but thought it would be too thick for the top?

ALemonyPea · 29/07/2016 18:25

I heated it a little so it had a runnyish consistency, then seasoned and and out on top. I added cheese on top of that as well, my hea allowance.

froubylou · 29/07/2016 18:28

Hello all

Might try a quark lasagne next week. Have avoided it because of the white sauce being so high in syns.

Meals today

B. Museil and ff yog. Heb
L. Jacket potato with cheese no butter and salad
T. Chicken saag and boiled rice. Probably a popadom but no bread. And a couple of g and ts. Always have flexible syns friday teatime.

But when I compare what I have now to what I used to have its a massive difference. I used to have probably 3 cans of lager, half a nan bread, fried rice and probably a starter of bhaji and samosa.

ALemonyPea · 29/07/2016 18:46

I have avoided lasagne as well but my kids were begging me for it. I was just going to have a salad but then had a brainwave about the quark.

Calzone makes a white sauce out of cauliflower, I've made it before but not for lasagne.

I am getting weighed next Monday night and I fully intend on having a dirty Indian takeaway afterwards. Usually I'd have chicken tikka masala, chips, onion bhajis and naan, but I honestly dont think I could eat that much ever again. My portion sizes have reduced since starting SW, and I find I get full sooner. Anyone else found that, or is it just in my head?

WingDefence · 29/07/2016 19:27

Hi all - extra spesh hi to the newbies :)
Mucked it all up today. Beach picnic with sandwiches, leftover pizza, mini sausage rolls then a Chinese for tea and whilst I went for something light (all the chicken dishes were fried so I had roast pork in Chinese veg with boiled rice) I ate far too many prawn crackers.

Still, I've not had an ice cream all week as I've not fancied one and I have tried to be sensible. Not exactly looking forward to post-hol WI on Monday morning though!

chough · 29/07/2016 20:18

Lemony, re Indian takeaways: in chough country, there's an Indian takeaway run by a successful SW member which does meals which are syn-free or under 5 syns.
And delivers too.
He's very popular amongst local SW members.

ALemonyPea · 29/07/2016 20:21

Oh I'm very Envy of that Chough. I do like Indian food, but it's so high in syns, mso haven't had one since I started in April.

ALemonyPea · 29/07/2016 20:22

Pressed enter too soon.

Wing, you're on holiday, you're meant to enjoy yourself.

froubylou · 29/07/2016 20:27

I have just left 1/3 of mine Lemony. And I could have left half if it wasn't as nice. But it was bloody gorgeous so I was a greedy piggy.

When you look at the syns in it, it's actually the sides and starters that are really bad. Nan bread is horrendous for syns. If you absolutely have to have bread chose a chappitI instead. And boiled rice is obviously free. If we have starters I have chicken tikka rather than bhajis.

And I usually have sag as it has a lot of spinich so at least I am getting some speed in. Occasionally I have a veg curry instead of chicken.

And weigh your portion if you are counting syn's religiously. The syns are based on a 550g serving. Ours is usually about 400g so it's a saving of about 1/4 if you eat it all. Which can make a difference mentally if you are determined to have a take away but stay within 15 syns.

Buttwing · 29/07/2016 20:29

Those of you who like Indian I can really recommend the hairy bikers chicken madras it's really really good. I ended up having it last night instead of my chicken in soy and sweet chilli. I had completely forgotten that the step kids were coming over so did a big curry that everyone could tuck into instead.

B-banana and yogurt
L-ham and tomato omelette with beans
D-roast chicken with tarragon and lemon, salad, padron peppers and rice with quinoa.(1)

2 benefit bars
Mini chomp(2), 2 mini curly wurlys (6) mini crunchie (4)
