Well done ladies Smile

Starting half term week is hard! Too much eating out. However, have resisted cake, hot choc and chips Grin Think I am doing OK.

Another meal out tonight ... Shock

Mis - we have been told at our group that the sausages from here are syn free and also the burgers, grills and mince. Sometimes we do a group order at our meeting as you have to order a minimum of 8 packs. They are very good sausages.

MisForMumNotMaid · 20/02/2015 13:48

Thanks Dexter I'm fortunate enough to live only a short walk from somewhere that stocks Joes sausages. They are good no fat comes off them. At group our consultant said they now have to be syned as a low fat sausage as slimming world no longer endorse product, except Iceland it appears. I'm sure they haven't changed the recipe they taste exactly the same and are still very low fat so i intend to continue using them but not eating too many in one sitting. I haven't tried the burgers though. I love sausages, have done since childhood. They've always been a bit of a once a week thing I'm glad they still can be.

Trinity, its starting that counts. Not every week has to be a high loss one. Just making some either or choices will make a difference over time, time being the biggest factor. Are you missing/ craving anything or finding you can syn it into your day?

Wombat. You're an unstopable force. 3.5stone award so you're well under the 20 stone mark now and waving it a proper good riddance. Are you at the point it starts costing money in new clothes and underwear?

TimeForAWeightChange · 20/02/2015 14:10

I'm so glad I've found this thread. OP, your weight loss is amazing - congratulations!

I went back to SW on Wednesday night. I've been tons of times but usually leave after a week, even though I know the diet is good and works. I'm a master of self sabotage.

So I went in, got weighed and was almost two stone heavier than the last time I was there. That proves it's a good idea to stay away, doesn't it?

I weighed in at 16 stone 13.5 pounds - I just can't believe I'm this heavy. It'll take me weeks just to get down to where I was last time I was there.

Anyway, enough of that. My birthday is at the start of December and I figure if I lose about 2.5 per week I would be 10 stone (my goal) by that date. I want a Christmas dress. I want a birthday dress. I want to be able to go for a run and to go to yoga classes.

So, this is it. Count me in.

Worryingwombat · 20/02/2015 22:08

Mis- I am refusing to by clothes at the moment just using what I can! Another stone or 2 and I'll end up flashing someone so will have to re think!! Lol

My tops do look a bit stupid though!!

Timeforachange- welcome Grin congratulations on re starting! The line has been drawn!! So go from here!! Wink

I've got 2 out of 3 back at school today. I didn't realise DS1 had an inset day so he ended up coming to DS2's school then DD's nursery before a drive out to Ikea. Not sure that the brisk 6 mile school run/ walk was something he relished but fortunately he was still trying to get his head round no school and dealing with the overstimulation of a mainstream school playground to add that to his worries.

He managed a full Ikea breakfast and cake for pudding so the walk built his appetite. I had a healthy beans on toast for breakfast and we're having pasta with a tomato and herb sauce and grated cheese for tea. The DC are having meatballs with theirs.

I haven't told DS1 that we're shortly to set of on the 6 mile blustery nursery/ school collection run. At least its not raining.

We went on a family swim, minus DH, yesterday. Youngest is in armbands but the boys are getting quite fast. I actually have to make an effort when we do swimming races these days. I've brought a new hold everything in swimming costume. Unfortunately whilst it holds everything in, theres not much left to hold it up. Its a halter neck style from a mid bust fixing point and DD successfully pulled the cups down more than once whilst we were swimming around.

I've done quite well out of buying clothes. I buy off ebay/ from charity shops at good prices only recognisable brands like monsoon, whitestuff, boden, seasalt, fatface then sell on about two months later. The worst i've done is break even after fees. For most things I've made a small amount. But I know second hand isn't for everyone. Underwear is another more expensive story. I had lots of size 18, then got 16's that lasted a matter of weeks before I ended up with them falling down all the time.

I have caught this dreaded cold that is going around and I feel pants!!

Duvet day!!

Hello- I'm so glad I found this thread. I did well at SW a couple of years ago, but stopped going as I changes jobs and the class wasn't convenient. I (foolishly) thought that I'd keep at it but I haven't and I've put on all the weight I lost and probably a bit more. I was comfortably in size 14s when I left SW and weighing in at just under 12 stone (I'm 5 foot 8). However I'm back in size 16 now and I'm noticing that my jeans/trousers are feeling tight- booooo!

After reading bits of this thread I've been reminded of how much I liked the plan- I found loads if great recipes I enjoyed and I never really felt hungry. Alcohol was the biggie for me, I really missed wine!! I think I'm going to go back to SW, need to find a class that suits as work full time with quite a lot of travel. But you're all doing so well- I want a piece of that. My sis gets married in sept so I have a good goal too.

Might get on the dreaded scales soon and see what the damage is or I might wait until first class- reckon it's poss I'm close to 14 stone. Bloody hell.

MisForMumNotMaid · 24/02/2015 12:54

Oh wombat, i feel for you. Isn't that just the way you finally get a bit of you time and your body decides to have its own little meltdown. Don't forget lots of fluid, wash the damn thing out your system.

Hello Click. Why not just weigh, measure and start today? Its only a number. If you know the plan and want to hang about on the thread i'm sure we could see you through if you don't make it to/ until you get to a group.

If you cut out the wine (assuming a daily large glass equivalent) other than events when it'd be rude not too between now and September that'd probably be half a stone plus. On the other hand if the wine is higher on your list than chocolate/ crisps/ biscuits and fat a 250ml glass is within daily syns so doable.

ClickMyHeels · 24/02/2015 14:44

Hello Mis. I weighted earlier- 13 stone 10. I never measure but maybe I should? I'm sure my waist measurement would make me weep. So I've put on all the weight I lost last time. I feel fatter than I did last time- maybe it's cos I'm a bit older!

I'm going to dig out my old stuff tonight and see if I can spur myself on, cook a few of the recipes this week. The thing with wine is I can easily drink a bottle three times a week which I know is really bad, and I will have to cut down to lose again. I really miss it- sad but true!

trinitybleu · 24/02/2015 14:52

we need to find you an alternative click ... something special but lower in syns ...

ClickMyHeels · 24/02/2015 14:54

When I did SW last time I drank gin and soda with fresh lime in. I liked it. Didn't get the same feeling as popping the cork on a delicious bottle of red though!!

MisForMumNotMaid · 24/02/2015 16:03

Click well done. First step and all that. I measure about once a month/ every 6 weeks. It helps on those weeks you've been good but it doesn't show on the scales.

I think you might need to hear some tough talk about the wine.

3 bottles of red. Its about 8.5syns per 250ml so those 3 x 750ml bottles are over 70 Syns a week. Thats essentially your entire weeks syns. No chocolate, crisps, fat, takeaways, sauces etc just to essentially maintain/ have a slight loss.

Its not just whilst you get things to the level of weight you're happy with its for ever. Its just too many calories from wine if you want to eat/ live as well! You need to find something as an alternative/ drink less/ go lowcal wine/ accept that you'll be forever in a gain/ abstain and lose cycle. Its all your choice. I'm in no way suggesting any as the right choice. Maybe for you 6 months drinking then 3 months abstaining is the way to go.

I used to drink most nights too. Red wine mostly. Generally a large. 1/3 bottle glass. Sometimes plus a bit. It has taken months to break they cycle and not have that kids in bed wine o'clock urge. But it is broken. I still love a large wine if we eat out/ have friends over/ on the weekend. Just not so often in the week.

ClickMyHeels · 24/02/2015 18:04

Thanks Mis. Everything you say makes perfect sense. I'd like to be able to maintain it sensibly. I don't like the thought of losing weight, going back to my old ways for a bit and then getting back on it when I'm getting porky again. Although this is petty much what I've done since I was 21! It always goes back on, with a little bit extra, each time. It's quite shocking what you said about the wine. I don't really bother with choc/crisps- we don't really buy them, but my portion sizes are too big and again I drink too much. It's probably the wine that's making me so fat- maybe I should go cold turkey and keep my eating the same, see what happens!

MisForMumNotMaid · 24/02/2015 21:22

Clic On a calorie only calculation a bottle of red is typically just under 600 cals so 3 would be approx 1800. If you work on 3500cals being equivalent to 1lb fat that would mean a gain of roughly 1lb/ fortnight if all the cals from wine are surplus to your basic daily needs.

If its been about a year since you were at Slimming world that would tie in with an approximately correct weight gain based on being just shy 12stone before and 13st 10 now.

Just going cold turkey on the wine would stop the steady gain - but wouldn't create a deficit and result in weight loss.

So the big question to work out how many minor adjustments are necessary is how long since you were at Slimming world?

Please feel free to ignore if its too many questions. I'm a very fact driven analytical person and realise that this can be a little intrusive.

calzone · 24/02/2015 23:11

I think I have just found a hip bone.

ClickMyHeels · 25/02/2015 09:04

Thanks Mis. I like your analysis! I think it's probably the wine and also portion sizes creeping up that has made me put the weight back on. I've decided to swop wine for gin when I'm having a drink- and to watch portion sizes, see if these two changes are enough for the weight to start coming off. I may drink wine once a week though!

Oh yes, and in answer to your question it's almost 2 years since I stopped at SW. But I would say that for 6 months after at least I didn't put any weight on. It's mainly been in the last year that it's all gone on. Especially this last winter to be honest. I changed jobs with more travelling which I don't think has helped.

MisForMumNotMaid · 25/02/2015 11:50

calzone quick check the other side. There should be two!

calzone · 25/02/2015 16:39

MisforMum!!!!!

Omg! There are 2!!!!

MisForMumNotMaid · 26/02/2015 18:17

THIS IS ME SHOUTING. 1/2 a frigging pound. I've been 2lb down on my home scales last two days then this morning jumped back up (period started) and its left me 1/2lb off my 4.5stone award. I really wanted it this week to leave me four weeks to get my 5stone and be at my trial/ possible final target.

I know 1/2lb is off, its all the right direction. I know that it'll show up next week etc etc but I wanted it now.

Had a good run out to the charity shops with my mum and youngest this afternoon and indulged in lots of new to me clothes (a dress, tunic jumper, jumper, wrap top, 2 scarfs all for just over £10).
