Wow! Worrying, thats really brilliant. Time to change worrying to hoping i think Smile

LiamandLogansmummy · 20/01/2015 10:16

Hi everyone,

Just checking in after weigh in. Well I lost a 1b! Bit disappointed as been good all week but consultant said it may be because I joined the gym 2 weeks ago and it will take a few weeks to catch up :-(

But still I guess I've lost 8lbs in 3 weeks! That's good isn't it?

You all seem to be doing great!

Xx

annielostit · 20/01/2015 10:34

Well done liamsmum. 8lb in 3 weeks is fab.

fruitloopsandfruitshoots · 20/01/2015 12:21

Well done for the losses!

I made a hideous butterut squash soup for lunch which I am forcing myself to eat because a) I have nothing else at work! b) I don't want to waste the food c) I know despite it tasting horrid, it is very good for me- so I am trying to grin and bear it!

I am desparate for another 4lb loss this week, but I am predicting 2lb. I really wanted 4lb as I have to see a consultant on Monday about an operation and I really don't want her to weigh me and say that i'm obese and my weight is a risk for surgery. If I lose 4lb the i'll only be in the overweight category, so this makes me feel a lot better mentally.

CoconutAmericano · 20/01/2015 22:35

Can you drink loads and loads of water fruitloop between now and monday to boost your weight loss? Might be worth a shot!
Congrats wombat you are sounding really like you're getting your confidance back. Good on ya, shaken your booty Grin!!
liam 8 lbs in 3 weeks is brilliant! Very well done Smile
I am still very motivated. Been to the health food shop to buy quinoa and cous cous. Syn free and it's nice to mix it up a bit so i've been using the quinoa in place if rice and i think i will roast some veg tomorrow and stir cous cous thru it for lunch. Just trying to vary my diet a bit. i can easily fall into a food rut. I have salmon to defrost for a salmon pilaf too. Still loving that recipe!!
Anybody tried any new meals lately?

Worryingwombat · 21/01/2015 07:49

Morning all

Busy day today and a bit worried as my eldest son aged 7 is going for many tests today and tomorrow in relation to dyslexia and dyspraxia, just got my fingers crossed he copes well with everything!

Coconut- the talk at my group has been about this diet coke chicken recipe!? It is on the Sw website they say it tastes great though I have not got round to doing it myself!!

I stepped up with the work outs and went to a Zumba class last night! Really enjoyed it! It was fast though and I felt rushed to keep up!! Grin

So I am now 100mins of body magic up for this week!!Grin Though I have been warned that at first it might not show on the scalesHmm that might take a weeks or 2!

B weetabix and milk
L veg and lentil soup
T frittata and salad

Ok admission time I feel I am failing my weight loss as I don't drink a lot I never have I might have a glass or 2 a day Confused

Do you all get your 8glasses in a day and more!?

Do you find it affects your weight loss!?

Have a good day all! Grin

I tried a new one yesterday. Involved eggs, flour, butter, sugar, copious amounts of chocolate, salted caramel, quark, coco powder, icing sugar, fontant shaped into peppa and george pig, candle wax and probably a bit of child spit. Oh and Cadburys flakes.

DD turned 4 and force fed me the cake we made together. It was nice, I didn't have masses and did avoid all the other party tea so hoping that it doesn't have too much of an effect.

Aldi have their £5 off £40 spend vouchers in the newspapers tomorrow so planning three £40 shops over the next week to completely restock the larder.

I love cous cous, so quick and easy but my quinoa based meals have never worked out. I ended up binning some a while ago to reuse the storage jar for something else. I think i possibly fall a bit into the meal rut category. I'll make sure I add a few new things to the shopping list.

8lb in three weeks is great. Even 1lb a week over a year is best part of 4 stone over the year. My initial loss was about 8lb over the first three weeks. I was a bit disappointed because some people appeared to lose that in a week. But some people are a size 8 and in my opinion eat like a horse. Thats just how it is. You've got to do this for yourself and your body. The gym and lots of exercise definitely causes a slight lag in loss. But if you take your measurements you may well see the toning effects sooner than loss on the scales.

fruitloopsandfruitshoots · 21/01/2015 10:22

Yuuuuumy- that cake sounds delicious Mis! I want some! My mouth is watering at the sound of salted caramel.

Wombat- I hope your sons tests are okay. Flowers

I definitely don't drink enough water, so that is going to be a plan from now on, to up my intake! I usually only drink 2-3 glasses, but am going to aim for 5, that will help, surely?!

Weigh in tomorrow, and my home scales say that I weigh the same as last week- this had better not be true on the SW scales tomorrow or else I will have a toddler tantrum at group!

CoconutAmericano · 21/01/2015 11:53

I think the water helps definitely wombat and fruitloop Well it certainly helps me in the sense that i will poo more often ahem, sorry! Blush Grin.
I did try the diet coke chicken once before. It wasn't for me. Too artificial tasting but I know others rave about it so it might be worth a try at least. You can always bulk it up with lots of veg to make it taste "fresher".

Good luch with your son's appointment today wombat
misfor i too am drooling at the cake. Which is not good because i have teeth whitening strips in Grin

Linzdreamz · 21/01/2015 16:46

I have tried the gammon broth posted here and was yummy!!

Also, I altered a bit of original lentil-spinach soup, by adding a bit of shredded gammon(more like a garnish). It was yummy and I was full for a long time.

calzone · 21/01/2015 17:53

Have stayed on plan all week so am hoping for a good weightloss.

Weigh in tonight.Shock

Poor SIL has a lot of weight to lose and lost 3.5lbs last week and stayed the same this week. She was a bit upset earlier.....I told her it was better than a gain .....but I felt Confused for her.

CoconutAmericano · 21/01/2015 20:29

lindz that was me who posted the gammon broth. Delicious isn't it?! It's on my permanent list now. Actually i think i'll make it tomorrow.

Going to go on another power walk in the morning. I used to love walking but i have been slipping the last few months. This week i have done 3 so far. It better pay off!!

Worryingwombat · 21/01/2015 20:59

Evening all

Kind of sad and indifferent today ??

My eldest son has been through test for dyslexia and dyspraxia today and while we have known for a while he has been having difficulties it has been heart breaking to hear today that his testing shows he has a not just a mild problem but a severe issue ??

My emotions feel all over and my default setting to turn to food for comfort has never been stronger

Fighting it but feeling down all the same, motivation has left me! Need to snap out of this!!

B weetabix and milk
L turkey sandwich (had no other options at testing centre it was on white bread cake with mayo and lettuce (counted around 16 Syns I think!!)
L frittata and salad

fruitloopsandfruitshoots · 21/01/2015 21:33

Poor you wombat. Please don't worry though, there is so much support now for dyslexia and dyspraxia so I am sure your DS will be absolutely fine. My brother has dyslexia, and he is 24 now with an amazing job travelling the world with a racing team, and he has the best time ever! My dad also has dyslexia and he has a successful business doing what he loves Smile I know it must be really hard to hear about your DS, but honestly, all will be fine. Just think how cheered up you will be at your weigh in when you get a lovely loss Grin In the meantime, pig out on some virtual Cake and Wine- but virtual only!

I think I need to try this gammon broth! DH got me a morphy richards soup maker today and it is AMAZING! I made a batch of tomato, onion and red pepper soup this evening and it was soooo nice!

MisForMumNotMaid · 21/01/2015 21:45

The whole diagnosis process is really draining, isn't it. I remember feeling that I'd failed my son when I received comments such as 'how has he got to this age before referral' and 'why hasn't this been picked up sooner' etc etc.

The reasons with my son, and I'm sure with yours, is because they're remarkable, resilient, adaptable, clever children who find ways of getting on - which ever way they can. That is a skill they'll have for life. The resilience is from their mums. Just look at us. We've set our selves a goal and we're steaming towards it.

A friend asked me about the diagnosis process through CAMH's and I told her it should start with a trip to the supermarket to buy a bottle of something for after the session for getting beyond the emotional upheaval and exhaustion putting your child through these things takes. She laughed. A few days later she popped in and said she'd sent her husband out for some wine after the session. She felt like she'd emotionally done a few rounds in the ring beyond when the match should have stopped. Its much easier dealing with medical stuff for yourself than your DC.

Any paperwork and diagnosis is a positive thing. It gives the powers that be things to work with. Hopefully occupational therapy can now do class room visits and help make appropriate minor class room adjustments to make things easier for your DS.

The sandwich doesn't sound so bad. Best thing at a tough time and better that you ate rather than picking up a few bars of chocolate followed by fish and chips on the way home (so easily done when you're feeling drained).

If you hadn't had the sandwich would you have your syn treats now? Do you think it would still be wise to do this? You've had a shattering day and tomorrow is a new day. Don't be beaten by this one and be gentle on yourself. Us mums need the odd bit if TLC too.

Have some virtual Cake, Wine, Flowers and a Bear

NiceCupOfTeaAndALittleSitDown · 21/01/2015 23:18

Hello all, well done for sticking with it. And sorry to hear your news Wombat. I've had a shocking year so far. My aunt died a couple of weeks ago and I spent all day yesterday planning funeral, visiting solicitors etc so big wobble day. Then in the evening my poorly bunny took a turn for the worse, took him to the emergency vets and he had to be pts Sad
In some ways SW is actually helping me as it is giving me focus and some form of control over what is happening around me.

I lost 2lb at my (first) weigh in today. There is no parking, so had to walk past KFC, 3 Indian Restaurants, a caff and a fish and chip shop. The smells were amazing but if it wasn't for their trixy smells and calorific food I wouldn't be the size I am today.
And if I lose 2lb every week I will be at my target weight by July, that has put it into context.
Good luck everyone in the coming week.

Chocolou · 22/01/2015 10:30

Wow. You guys are doing really well. My week has been awful. Instead of having a couple of meals out ive lost it completely.
Instead of ruining my day as I've just had a chocolate bar I'm going to draw a line under it and eat the lovely food ive brought to work instead.

BabsUnited · 22/01/2015 13:44

Hi everyone - can I join? I am half way through third week on SW and can feel myself getting to the point where I usually give up Blush

I have successfully used SW in the past to lose half a stone here and there but I never get down to the weight I want and need to be, I really need to crack it this time. I read about half way through this thread and the bit that resonated was that it's not a 'diet' as such, more a lifestyle change that we stick to most of the time. So I'm hoping by changing my mindset a bit I might be able to keep going.

I need to lose a stone and a half. I am 5'3 and feel like 9 stone is my goal weight. Starting weight was 10st13.5. I can't actually remember what my current weight is as books etc at home but I think I've lost 3.5lbs so far. It is slow for me, which makes me likely to quit, so am hoping having another support network will help me. Flowers

I am also struggling a bit with comfort eating. My son has cerebral palsy and while he's only 2.6 years old, it's not becoming apparent he has an actual disability rather than being 'a bit behind' which I find really sad. He's such a sweet lovely boy. It's 'only' his legs that are affected but it means he can't walk unaided. So that gets me down, but I feel reasonably positive about things at the moment so I hope that by keeping on top of my SW ways, that will also help me feel more in control, like nicecupoftea said. Sorry to hear about your DS wombat, it's shit when things don't turn out as we'd expect or want when it comes to our DC.

Sorry for the essay Blush

BabsUnited · 22/01/2015 13:52

*now becoming apparent, that was meant to say. Whoops
