@NinaMarieP I would definitely count that as sleeping through the night!!! Well done.

Two times a night would be amazing, I've managed to decrease the feeds but he still wakes up loads and needs resettling.

Got him to sleep a 4 hour block from 4.30 which was good

AMagdalena · 14/01/2018 09:55

@Nina That's definitely sleeping through, yay!

@Jellybean My DD was undernapped, too, so we had 4 wake-ups instead of 2 as of late.

@Nicellen Sounds like your DP needs a kick up the backside to mae him realise he needs to help you more! I wouldn't tolerate my DH going out on the lash (unless it was a real occasion) while I was home with a newborn.

Jellybean2017 · 14/01/2018 10:21

Wow @ninamariep that's fantastic! Long may it continue 😊

I have just had 2.5 hours of lovely sleep on my own while DH took DS downstairs. It was lovely. I was woken by my boobs though 😒😂

Catscatsandmorecats that's a good article for some of us to show our partners! Makes me realise I'm lucky with mine. It's so important we set out our expectations though. I think sometimes new dad's do need a bit of direction in the first few months as things perhaps don't come as naturally to them at first (I might be unfair for saying that as I'm sure some men are super dad's from the word go 😊 but just my personal experience is that it helped to explain how DH could best support me early on, and now he uses his initiative usually yay!

@nicellen hope you manage to have a good chat with your partner today. And hope everyone has a lovely Sunday.

The bed is deliciously delicious. 4.5 months of having a bed to myself, it'll be strange when dh does come back. I've even taken to call it 'my' bedroom now instead of 'ours'. Ha! Technically that's true!!

@NinaMarieP I'm jealous Envy

Jellybean2017 · 14/01/2018 11:16

@hashtagtired I refer to our bedroom as mine too 🙈 and DH has his own room which resembles the one he had at uni 😂

AMagdalena · 14/01/2018 15:27

@Hashtag Jealous of your delicious bed! I have been trying to convince DH to buy a kingsize, but he's a tight Yorkshireman 😭

Stuck under a baby at the moment.

Meepmoop · 14/01/2018 18:13

The smaller cot we had in our bedroom has now gone. It's back to being an adult space which is really nice, the only baby related item is the monitor. Also our bedroom now looks huge.

Hoping for a good night tonight as off to a baby class tomorrow morning

actino · 14/01/2018 18:34

Dd has become very very clingy in the last week, she really only wants to be with me. I'm currently making dinner and she's crying her eyes out with Dh. She's 10 weeks today, anybody else's baby only happy with mom at this age? I might have to put her in the sling soon if she won't settle with him.

AMagdalena · 14/01/2018 19:23

@Meepmoop We're getting rid of the crib when I get back home, too. It was pretty useless anyway 😂
Hoping she takes to her room crosses fingers

@actino Yup, it was a stage in the AMag household, too. It has now passed. Thank God.

Catscatsandmorecats · 14/01/2018 19:44

@meepmoop and @amagdalena I am very envious of you getting your rooms back. I really need to sort out DS2'S room and get him there. Enjoy your adult space once again.

@actino I had totally forgotten but DS1 did the same at about 10 weeks, it was torture, I had him in a sling a lot of the time then when family came to help for half an hour a day (DH was working away then) he'd scream the whole time he was with.them whilst I showered and got the bins out etc. It did pass fortunately.

Tonight I am in bed already and in with DS2 who fell asleep on our bed playing with DH whilst I was reading DS1'S stories. DH wimped.out of moving him to his cot so he's staying there til he needs a feed. I have everything crossed that both boys have a good night and I'm not torn between them.in the early hours

actino · 14/01/2018 19:51

Hopefully it passes soon. She's also difficult to put down in her Moses basket downstairs, and she used to be great at sleeping in it during the day.

Last week there was a day where I kept nodding off with her on my arms on the couch, so for safety's sake I'm obviously keen to get her sleeping in her basket again.

HashtagTired · 14/01/2018 20:14

Last night was a good night but I feel worse for it today! He slept from 9pm to 2:30am. (Dh brought him up to me at midnight). The. After a swift feed, he woke me again after 2 hours 45 mins. Then hourly thereafter (which is normal) after 5/6am.

I am not deluded to think I'll have another good night tonight so I too am off to bed.

@Meepmoop your story of your bedroom reminds me of the Julia Donaldson children's book 'A squash and a squeeze'.

AMagdalena · 14/01/2018 20:15

@castcast I suspect that despite getting rid of the cot, our bedroom won't be completely baby free for a while yet unless DD takes a dislike to co-sleeping. Yeah. Fat chance.

A tad nervous about tomorrow's scans. Hopefully they show nothing. DD's poos look better after a course of medication (she even pooed on my dad today, wahey!).

HashtagTired · 14/01/2018 20:17

Oh. Btw. All this talk of Black Mirror got me watching it and I'm addicted! It's really thought provoking. I just watched the one where the individuals were being texted directions on what to do.
It's the kind of series that I want to treat like a book club and have a discussion about it with someone afterwards!! I bet there's so much more to each episode that my tiny brain cell is missing!

HashtagTired · 14/01/2018 20:17

Fingers crossed for you all tomorrow @AMagdalena

AMagdalena · 14/01/2018 20:22

@Hashtag Thank you! 😊

actino · 14/01/2018 20:30

@HashtagTired, I was just thinking that is like some kind of book/tv club with other moms! I go to groups but we mainly talk about our babies which is nice, but I'd like to talk about other things, too.

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 14/01/2018 20:40

Hi all! Reporting for night duty, present and correct.

Another one with a 10 week old velcro baby! DS screams if I am not holding him. It can be very frustrating but I'm just bunging him in the sling and having him sleep on me a lot. I know it will pass DD did the same. Was annoying today; was making a Sunday roast while DS was asleep on DH. Had hoped to have more time to finish making it but DS woke mid way into the preparations so a lot of it was done to a sound track of crying! I find getting ready the biggest challenge. I have to just leave DS to cry while I grab a very quick shower. That and a coffee are the only way I can function, so I'm not forgoing it!

@hashtagtired so glad you're liking Black Mirror! It's brilliant TV. I found the episode you're referring to very chilling, the twist at the end was savage.

Not sure what kind of night we are in for here. DS fell asleep at 2015 but awake again now so am feeding him. Really desperate for sleep. Got lots to do tomorrow with both DC so I need at least some sleep. As jealous as I am of you @ninamarie it also gives me hope! Fingers crossed you get a rerun tonight.

@nicellen how are you feeling now? Did you manage to talk to your DP?

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 14/01/2018 20:46

On the theme of good TV...Does anyone watch Inside No.9? If not it's another programme I can't recommend highly enough. Me and DH also enjoying Death in Paradise which is always on this time of year. It's totally daft but it's set in the Caribbean and is easy watching!

I joined a mum book group on my last maternity leave. It wasn't a big success; most wouldn't have read the book and the chat invariably turned to babies. I love being part of a book group though...alll the better if there's wine involved!

I've just read Anatomy of a Scandal which is new on Kindle, highly recommend. I get through a LOT of Kindle books thanks night feeds so happy to chat books with anyone who's interested! If you're a crime fiction fan, give Angela Marston's 'Kim Stone' series. Quality British crime writing and an easy read.

Meepmoop · 14/01/2018 20:51

Maybe we should start a non sleeping book/tv club.

We haven't started watching black mirror yet, we're currently finishing off Breaking Bad.

@HashtagTired I haven't read that one, I'll have to take a look

actino · 14/01/2018 20:53

@WhoAteAllthePercyPigs, that's why I think a tv club would be good for moms with babies, it's a lot easier to watch an hour of tv in a week than read a book! (That said, I've read 4 Harry potter books and half of the first game of thrones book while bf)

I'm currently watching a documentary about Yellowstone and really enjoying it. I used to live about 5 hours from there, so it reminds me of my old home.

HashtagTired · 14/01/2018 20:58

I'd fall asleep if i read a book.
I almost finished a Jodi picoult book when on labour ward waiting for induction. It's now in my 'bed basket' with my nappies, water etc.

HashtagTired · 14/01/2018 21:00

@WhoAteAllthePercyPigs the twist was savage. I didn't believe it at first and thought, when he was accused of it, that the man assumed wrong of the boy. I wondered why he didn't speak up and correct him. It was as only when he got the phone call the penny dropped.

Nicellen · 14/01/2018 21:01

@WhoAteAllthePercyPigs we have had a chat and he understands. I've spoke with health visitor and got GP appointment tomorrow anyway so I'll chat to her bout how I feel. Changing DS formula tonight on suggestion of health visitor as vowels are very slow and he appears in pain so fingers crossed this helps him. X
