Gah. We were on track for deep sleep...DS had had his bottle and was zoning out. Left DH to put him to bed while I got ready. DS starts crying, apparently DH was convinced he'd pooed so instead of just sniffing his bum, he'd tried to check and ended up waking DS. There was no poo. But now DH is in bed and I'm feeding a very awake and grumpy DS. Sigh...

We had about 6 poos today!

Catscatsandmorecats · 05/01/2018 22:32

After DS2'S predicted extra feed we stayed up to watch the third episode of black mirror - @whoateallthepercypigs I found it the darkest so far so had to watch an episode of Brooklyn nine nine afterwards as an antidote in the hope I don't have nightmares again when I actually get some sleep.

Although I could have gone to bed with DS2 if I do that all the time the lack of adult time gradually wears me down too.

@dotcottonismyidol we've had s run of d&v stuff here too, it's exhausting enough without a tiny baby in the mix,bi hope you are ok.

We put DS1'S thicker duvet on tonight as he said it was the cold that woke him last night and have put an extra layer on DS2 in the hope that they both sleep better, I may be living in lala land but I'm going to bed optimistic

Nicellen · 05/01/2018 23:01

Tonight DP has offered to do the night feeds as DS FF. so why am I still downstairs with them unable to let go?! Panicking in case feeds aren't done correct or DS isn't winded properly and I'll b called on when he's really upset. Why is this so hard. DS 5 weeks today and cannot see it easing up. Going insane!

Zampa · 05/01/2018 23:14

Happy weekend everyone! Hopefully your other halves can help a bit more if they're not going to work.

I normally get OH to sleep in with us on a Friday/Saturday night but he's in the spare room tonight. This is conditional on him taking over from early morning so I can get a mega lie in!

Does anyone else have a Gro Ollie Owl? DD2 was given one as a present and less SO loud!

DiscombobulatedWomble · 06/01/2018 01:28

So usually DD is a cluster feeding nightmare in the evenings until midnight/1ish, so DH & I decided to binge watch black mirror. We started early & made it through 5 episodes.. BUT SHE SLEPT THE ENTIRE TIME ONLY WAKING UP TO FEED QUICKLY THEN GOING TO SLEEP ON ME AGAIN! And of course now she is awake & bright as a button. I give up :l

NinaMarieP · 06/01/2018 01:45

Don'tcha know they do the opposite of what you have planned? But planning the opposite of what you want to to trick them doesn't work...

Just leave him on his side then, @DotCottonIsMyIdol. I never moved my LO I just let him sleep how he was. I put him down on his side now (since 4.5m) and he sleeps better.

sleepycat13 · 06/01/2018 02:04

first feed after getting him down at 10. not bad going really but it's the second half of the night that's the worst.
annoyingly though i have been awake since 12.30 when dh came to bed and bloody woke me. yes I know he didn't mean to but he obviously didn't try hard enough to be a stealth ninja. now I'm just annoyed as i have missed out on that extra sleep.

sleepycat13 · 06/01/2018 02:20

agh ds just threw up all over me mid feed and still attached to the boob. what a mess

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 06/01/2018 02:56

Loving the Black Mirror watching! Good work @discombobulated! We finished it tonight. @cats oh I'm afraid you've more to come with the darkness! But the last three episodes are SO GOOD. Tomorrow we will be watching Death in Paradise as an antidote to it all though!

Totally agree about needing to get some adult time together (sounded dodgier than I meant it to Grin). Tonight I stayed up a bit later and enjoyed a glass of wine with DH. Yes sleep is important but so is our relationship, and just getting that time to be us and not parents.

First feed at 2.15 so, yay? But as you say @sleepycat, second half is more difficult. He's falling asleep on me so fingers crossed. DD woke me earlier by crying, worry that her head is hurting her. Luckily DH has taken her in with him, so he will be looking after her.

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 06/01/2018 02:57

Oh no @sleepy cat , that sounds horribly messy!

user1489931797 · 06/01/2018 03:21

Morning everyone!

So I got 2hrs 11pm-1am sleep whilst DH held DS sleeping as still refuses to be put down.

I'm doing the 1am -6:30am shift and currently due to weight gain not being on point and my supply not meeting his demands this week started combine feeding

However I have concerns would like to get your thoughts as health visitor still unsure of cause and my mum tries to question me as to whether I'm being overly sensitive about him brining milk up after every feed regarding the amount but does agree that it's more than just spit up.

I'd say that minimum after every formula feed DS brings back up atleast 25/30% of it and in a week has projectile vomited 3times across us himself and the sofa.

It's not just a little spit up coming up with wind it's almost instantly coming back up in large quantities or even sometime later as partially digested. Every single time.

Not been giving more than 4oz at a time and pacing him with a slow flow teat he's nearly 7 weeks old.

Keeping him relatively upright during feed and keeping him still for some time after but doesn't seem to help.

He's definitely keeping some down as nappy output good and his weight gain improved this past week which when I'm seeing him constantly bring large amounts of feed back up is surprising.

I've just abandoned the formula we had prepped and let him go back on my boob as just after feeding 1.5oz he's brought up 3 tines and front of babygro is all damp round neck but can't lay him down to change yet as will lose the last bit that he has managed to keep down.

Do we think slight reflux or indigestion perhaps even the health visitor is still slightly unsure at the moment and just focused on getting weight up. Sad

Catscatsandmorecats · 06/01/2018 03:50

On feed three here already, I asked DH to do the dreaded winding as I nearly fell asleep last time and got very restless legs at the same time, buy he informed me he's got an upset stomach so I've been reading to keep awake, it'll take me longer to get back to sleep but there we go. I have no idea why he's not well, DS1 is fine, he's normally the bug spreader/carrier.

@discombobulatedwomble do you think you could ask your DD to tell my DS2 how to do that so I can finish black mirror? It is very frustrating going so slow! @whoateallthepercypigs I'm looking forward to it even more now.

@sleepycat you have my sympathy, it's gross when they do that.

@user1489931797 it could possibly be reflux, it's supposedly worse at night too, worth getting checked out regardless, there may be medication that leads to a better night's sleep.

lydiangel83 · 06/01/2018 03:51

Can I join please?! I have a 9 wk old baby girl who probably sleeps 8 hrs in 24 hr period. Poor little mite has massive eye bags and looks exhausted, my mum keeps telling me she needs more sleep - not like I'm stopping her lol!

I've also got a broken coccyx which makes me feel a bit miserable but otherwise life is alright!

lydiangel83 · 06/01/2018 04:04

Hey @Zampa and @theotherendofthesockportal! Does anyone else wake up before their baby needs feeding because boobs are full? so annoying! She so rarely sleeps that the last thing I need is to wake her up to feed, so end up expressing off a bit whilst I wake but then that doesn't help with supply and waking up early with full boobs!

sleepycat13 · 06/01/2018 05:03

@lydiangel83 my boobs used to wake me after a couple of hours due to being full and uncomfortable and if I didn't wear pads I would be soaked. they seem to have settled down now though as for the past month or so that hasn't happened (ds now 14 weeks)

actino · 06/01/2018 05:21

Hi. Dd is also having a pukey night. She's puked on my duvet and sheets right near where my face is.

@lydiangel83, I've woken her to feed to alleviate full boobs before

Jellybean2017 · 06/01/2018 06:53

Just catching up. Disastrous start to the night here. Took 3.5 hours to settle him. He did 20 mins in the Next2Me before screeching the house down. I am wondering if he is teething. Anyway I laid him in bed with me to feed and after much persistence he slept for three hours, as did I. Then the rest of the night in hour long stints. He's laying on me feeding now though as I'm cold and he's like a hot water bottle

DS had a pukey day yesterday, not sure why. It varies from day to day. He tends to do one monster poo per day!

Is black mirror on sky or Netflix? Need something good to binge on this weekend!

Catscatsandmorecats · 06/01/2018 07:31

Well, making DS1 warmer worked, he slept through. It didn't work for DS2 - after the first 3 hour we were up every hour pretty much. Turns out DH didn't put DS2'S extra layer on 🤦

@jellybean2017 it's on Netflix - very dark but absolutely brilliant

HashtagTired · 06/01/2018 08:07

I'm not sure if it's illness, wind or 4 month regression thingy (he's 18 weeks tomorrow) but the last couple of nights have been pretty crappy. Generally wakes around midnight. Sleeps until 2-3am then wakes every hour after that. Last night he'd only sleep for that hour if I rest my hand on his tummy. Otherwise he'd be thrashing about.

Zampa · 06/01/2018 08:24

Sympathies with those who has bad nights.

DD2 refused to sleep in her cot last night and did the first half of the night on me and the second lying next to me. However that did result in two 3.5 hour stints!

DD1 is up after sleeping 12.5 hours straight!

AMagdalena · 06/01/2018 08:30

DD actually did a 5.5hr stint and slept quite well really. I need to stop waking up in the night for no reason! 🙈

DiscombobulatedWomble · 06/01/2018 08:43

Haha @cats had I known she would sleep the whole time rather than feed there is no way I would have watched so much - I would have been asleep with her! To be fair at one point I did fall asleep on DH whilst Do was asleep on me.. so much for quality couple time Blush

@lydiangel83 the other day I stupidly decided to go without a bra to bed to give my poor nipples some air time, DD went an unusually long time between feeds so I woke up early with gigantic boobs, when she did wake, I changed her so obviously she starts screaming and the boobs start dripping/spraying everywhere I have never seen anything like it. I honestly thought that I didn't leak much, clearly I was wrong Hmm

Sakura03 · 06/01/2018 09:15

Ds did his first ever 4.5 hours sleep in his cot!!! It was from 11pm to 3.30am, I was convinced he’d wake within half an hour but no, and the longest he’s slept before is 3.5 hours but it’s a rare event. The only other time he’s slept 4.5 hrs was when we got home from hospital. It makes such a difference when you get a decent stint and not just an hour at a time. After that he did 30 minutes (arggg), 2.5 hrs and is sleeping at the moment while I have my breakfast (and huge coffee). I’ve just had a mince pie🙈🙈🙈
I sympathise with you guys who have had a rough night, it sucks and I know I’ll be in that boat again (but no rush ds).
Yesterday I went to pick up a prescription for some antibiotics as I’ve possibly got an infection (had a swab done) and my dr wanted me to start the antibiotics straight away. Got home only to find that the labels state the medication prescribed but the boxes are penicillin which I’m allergic to!!! I phoned my surgery who told my to return it to the pharmacy. How bad is that? I’m going to have words with the pharmacist and I’m so glad I didn’t just go with what the labels say cos I would have got so ill..
It looks a little chilly out there today, what are you guys up to? I’m going to see a friend in the afternoon.
I’ve contacted a private tongue-tie specialist and she’s given me two options - 1 book a private consultation in her clinic (1hr) and if he’s got it she will do it there and then, the cost is £150.
2 - attend a free drop in on Wednesday morning where you get approx 10 minutes with her and she can confirm whether or not he’s got it.
I’m torn as to what to do... maybe start off with the free drop in? Any suggestions??

Jellybean2017 · 06/01/2018 10:05

Oh we don't have Netflix 😔

Glad there were a few good nights!! 😊

@sakura we did a 10 min drop in on the Tuesday and were booked in for the procedure that Friday. NHS wait was 12 weeks! Didn't immediately improve feeding for us but much better now. Take someone with you for procedure as I found it quite traumatic!

Waves to @lydiangel83 and @Zampa

I don't want to tempt fate but DD has started to sleep a bit better at night, although tomorrow leap 2 starts....

It's naps that I'm struggling with and getting her to sleep in the first place. She is 12 weeks old, 7 corrected and I still don't seem to know her cues for wanting a nap. I know she needs to spend time awake, but, how long?

I'm also trying to stop her sleeping on me.
