@AMagdalena I hope you're right!!

@tammyswansontwo you win!! I can barely handle one! Another reason I'm terrified to get pregnant again, what if it were twins (or more!) eek!

Ven83 · 18/12/2017 19:58

@TammySwansonTwo You're a hero, honestly. I was so relieved at the first scan when they confirmed there was just one baby in there. DH idiotically joked it would be convenient if we had twins, as we could be "over and done with it". Convenient!! Yeah he got told off for that.

AMagdalena · 18/12/2017 19:58

@Tammy CakeCake to you for coping with two!

Is everyone ready for the night shift? I certainly not (am I ever?!). DD will most certainly want to co-sleep and I am beyond exhausted from trying to keep up with laundry and ironing all day. I need to crack on with packing ASAP.
I am going out to lunch with a friend tomorrow despite the tiredness. And SO not looking forward to DD's first flight on Friday 😣

TammySwansonTwo · 18/12/2017 20:26

There's no twins in my family or anything. My DH was always joking that it was triplets. When we went for the first scan I was just worried about whether the baby was okay, and my DH was telling the tech all about his hilarious triplets joke. She laughed until she looked and then she looked really concerned - I shat myself, then she said "not triplets I'm afraid. Just twins". I literally told her to fuck off (not my finest moment), I thought she was joking. And now my chances of having twins again is quadrupled. Awesome. That's the best contraceptive there is, I'm telling you.

Jellybean2017 · 18/12/2017 20:38

I am not ready! DS is in his non sleeping bag and seems windy 💩 so not the best start! He is behaving like a teenager recently, miserable one minute and giggling the next. No idea where I stand 😂

AMagdalena · 18/12/2017 20:41

@Jellybean Reminds me of leap 4! DD is a much happier baby now. I thought I was going to lose my mind.

Jellybean2017 · 18/12/2017 21:25

Ahh DS is still in leap 4 as he was born three weeks before due date! Must be that then @AMagdalena 😊 think we have a few more weeks to go 🙈

Meepmoop · 18/12/2017 22:05

I'm not ready.

I'm hoping for a better night and am going to try not to get frustrated.

In good news I've got lovely clean bedding.

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 18/12/2017 22:14

So not ready! Trying not to think about the days when you'd be exhausted but happy in the knowledge that you were going to get a good night's sleep and feel human again the next day. Preparing yourself for yet another difficult night shift when you're running on empty is...well, it's shit.

@tammy I've seen some of your posts before. In awe of how amazing you are. Really hope things do start to get easier for you Flowers

See you all at the first feed...please let it not be in the next hour

theotherendofthesockportal · 18/12/2017 22:43

Aghhhh we are in leap one, which means DD is refusing to sleep. She has only cat napped since 8.30 this morning for 10 minutes at a time. I even took her on an hour long walk this afternoon which didn't work.

TammySwansonTwo · 18/12/2017 22:55

Oh Percy I am definitely not amazing at all! I am frequently on the precipice of a breakdown. You just have to get on with it though, don't you? Some days that feels impossible but mostly I just keep my head down and power through as best I can! My little twin was diagnosed with a rare illness when he was born so for the last 15 months he's had to feed every 3 hours and I've had to test his sugars - but he's really turned a corner recently and has been able to safely go longer between feeds so that's giving me some hope. Also, he's started talking more and his brother has started walking - makes it a lot more manageable when they're interacting with you more and turning into proper little people!

TammySwansonTwo · 18/12/2017 22:58

For those who have little babies, my best pieces of advice are get a rockaroo, get a baby Bjorn bouncer and a method of playing white noise very loudly (for me, a phone app and a Bluetooth speaker). These things saved my arse when I had two little screaming sleep-fighters! I literally cried when they outgrew their rockaroos, but the bouncers were a good substitute until they learned to climb out of them 😂

Meepmoop · 18/12/2017 22:59

Transfer completed, DH text me to say he's on the way home. Baby stirred, but didn't wake up.
Dog then barks manically as there are some drunk lads shouting outside our house. Baby is still asleep.

I however am wide awake! I just know as soon as I fall asleep he'll wake up

Meepmoop · 18/12/2017 23:14

And he woke up crying

HashtagTired · 19/12/2017 01:28

First feed done. First transfer unsuccessful but second looks to be a winner.

Twins sounds outrageous! Haha. I'm not sure I'd still be sane. There are twins in the family so I was very concerned at 12 week scan but relieved with just one! 😉

EBLL is going strong here. Life/sleep/sanity saver here. Haven't even considered different legs. If it's not broke, and all!

Ds has started to use his jumperoo a little. He likes a little bounce in it. His toes just touch the floor. Dd loves it when he's in there and she can play with him a bit. She's loving that he's starting to interact now and grab things.

I might get my first unconditional lie in tomorrow morning!!! Dd is off to breakfast club and dh is planning on taking her. And I don't have to get up to go to my exercise class because we've broken up for Christmas!! So I can lie in bed aaaaallllll day with ds if I want to! How very decadent! To think I had this every day when dd was born!

Right, of to reset Ewan and get some sleep before ds wakes for his 2:30 feed. Night all.

HashtagTired · 19/12/2017 01:29

Hope you're asleep again @Meepmoop

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 19/12/2017 02:19

First feed underway. Been an unsettled night but actually not because of DS. DD has been waking and whining very loudly. Think DH has given in and taken her in with him. He was away with her at the weekend and they ended up co sleeping so I'm not surprised she's unsettled tonight. Getting her out of our bed and into her own room was a real victory for us, so I'm hoping this is going to be a one off...

Just did a nappy change, now onto second boob. White noise blasting away! I'm amusing myself by looking at photos of past Christmas parties on Facebook...

Oh and in good news, DS was weighed today and is just an ounce or two short of 8 pounds! That's been a big leap up from his last weigh in so am really pleased. Would explain the cluster feeding this last week! He was only 5 pounds 4 when he was born so lots to catch up on.

HashtagTired · 19/12/2017 02:25

@WhoAteAllthePercyPigs ah that's great news about the weight gain. Well done! Good to know the cluster feeding is all for good weight gain!

I couldn't stretch the 2nd feed out any longer. He Slept for an hour although very unsettled and required a tummy rub to get back to sleep mid way through. My arm was getting cold so o brought it back under my covers but he woke shortly after. I think this is it now, we are I. The dark clouds of leap 4 so he may be showing signs of that now. I really hope this lie in becomes a reality tomorrow morning now because I started the night already tired and have been awake the last couple of hours.

My pillow arrangement isn't good and back beginning to twinge. I hate my bed.

Meepmoop · 19/12/2017 02:45

I got a couple hours in! DS slept in his cot for them as well!

Now finished feeding and the first transfer failed. Will attempt again in a minute.

We're taking DS to be weighed tomorrow, hopefully he will have put weight on after being ill last week. He certainly feels heavy

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 19/12/2017 02:55

When you get sucked in to a troll thread on AIBU...Grin 12 pages later and hadn't even noticed DS is fast asleep on me! Time for transfer and hopefully sleep.

I'm starving!

Jellybean2017 · 19/12/2017 04:28

Is the troll thread still up?! I'm on third feed and need something to read 😂

DS didn't go to sleep until 10 last night so I hope he sleeps In later than normal 🙈

BrioLover · 19/12/2017 04:31

Hallo, can I join? I have 10 week old DS2 who is EBF and wakes a few times a night to feed. We're co sleeping which helps. DS1 is 4, and has been having some night terrors recently (I think with the excitement of Christmas).

Currently on feed #2.

TammySwansonTwo · 19/12/2017 04:32

Hope you're all getting some sleep now - one of my boys has been extra twatty tonight, but fortunately my DH stepped in for a few of the wake ups. Wondering if I'll ever not feel tired again!

confusedwife84 · 19/12/2017 04:34

Newbie here...up since 3am with my 7 month DD ...for no apparent reason Confused

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 19/12/2017 04:38

Welcome @BrioLover! This thread has kept our collective sanity intact I reckon..

@jellybean it is! I always head to AIBU for a good argument lively debate.

Feed 2. I got about 5 minutes sleep befire DS was awake again. Meanwhile DD is still being noisy. There's a thread on AIBU (yes I have reached Peak Mumsnet tonight) asking if having a third child is feasible and I want to reply with yes it's insane, why would anyone go through this sleep deprivation thing 3 times??
