Any of this familiar?

1 baby needs to be constantly held
2 feeds frequently during the day
3 feeds or comfort sucks through the night
4 won't sleep alone
5 HATES the pram and/or car seat
6 takes short naps
7 doesn't like being held / left with others
8 gets bored or over stimulated very quickly

Feeling exhausted and want some support from others with spirited fussy babies

Pixie That lillebaby carrier looks fab, it does everything.

I don't like how the babybjorn one we've got positions him to be honest. We don't use it much as usually I end up carrying him in the bondolino as he wails if poor DH carries him for any length of time. Bubs asleep in the carrier now.

Poor thing has a barky cough now. Sad When the calpol wears off he's really quite miserable so I'm dosing him every 6 hours at the moment so he's always got some in him. Hoping once we get through tonight he'll start to improve. God I'm knackered. I haven't put him down in 24 hours.

EssiesInvisibleLlama · 16/12/2015 18:14

Meant to say, I did a baby massage course too. Total waste of time. DS decided to be asleep for the first session, and then didn't want to be massaged on the second one and just cried and wriggled about. All the other babies were so placid and well behaved! I didn't go back after the second week, I couldn't face it!

deathb4decaf · 16/12/2015 18:25

I know, that's how I'm justifying the entire chocolate orange I ate last night. 😳
Yeah I can't imagine dd putting up with me attempting a massage. She's like a little frog leaping around!
It was a lot of walking, especially considering the village is so small! I really have to work at her naps or she's very, very cranky. How much sleep time do your babies get over the day?
I will report back on the lavender. Apparently (according to the gentle sleep book) johnsons lavender etc is synthetic and won't have the same effect. Worth a go I guess. I'm looking at purchasing more unnecessary tat buying some sort of essential oil diffuser.

Cute pic pixie.

Llama keep an eye on the Barky cough in case it's croup xx

OP posts:
EssiesInvisibleLlama · 16/12/2015 21:40

The cough settles down once I've given him some calpol. If it gets any worse or sticks around I'll take him to Dr. How do I tell if it's croup?

LittlePixieMa · 17/12/2015 08:13

Typical symptoms of croup include:
• a bark-like cough
• a hoarse or croaky voice
• difficulty breathing
• a harsh grating sound when breathing in, called stridor
Stridor is often most noticeable when the child cries or coughs. But in more severe cases of croup it can also occur when the child is resting or sleeping.
Symptoms tend to be worse at night.
Some children have cold-like symptoms for a few days before developing croup symptoms.
These cold-like symptoms can include:
• sore throatt_

• runny nose
• coughh_

• high temperature (fever)

Good morning!

How was everyone's night? Little pixie woke up once at 5!! I think but possible I've blanked out the other times. He then woke up at 7.30, I shoved a boob in his mouth and he went back to sleep, and still is!! Woohoo. Probably doomed myself by showing off.......

OP posts:
EssiesInvisibleLlama · 17/12/2015 09:30

Pixie thanks for that, no he doesn't have croup then. He's much better this morning. He bf-ed about a thousand times during the night but I had him in bed with me so just let him get on with it. I did give more calpol at 2am but have not had to give any this morning as he isn't as croaky or coughing as much and seems quite jolly. Yay! He's asleep now in the sling.

Wow one wake up at 5am! That's immense! You must feel reborn?!!

Anyone doing anything nice this weekend?

deathb4decaf · 17/12/2015 11:44

Oh my god we didn't have a very good night! DD's cold is in full swing and I think she's teething too. Got a very grouchy girl 😔 she pretty much slept on my chest last night. I've no idea how much sleep we got. She has just finally gone to sleep. Darkened room, boob and muslin with a drop of lavender seems to have done the trick... Took forever though.
pixie that sounds very good! llama glad your little one is on the mend!
I haven't got plans for the weekend. Does anyone else feel like going out or seeing anyone is a huge ordeal? We went for lunch the other day, ended up eating standing up, tag teaming with dp because dd wouldn't stop screaming. We ended up leaving in a hurry all flustered. There were other babies there who just sat quietly! Does it get easier???

EssiesInvisibleLlama · 17/12/2015 13:33

How old is yours Db4D? My DS is 15 weeks and slowly getting better at going out, bar Mondays disaster but I now realise that's cos he was sickening for the cold he's now got. I do have to time it right though. I try not to be out in public when he is tired unless he's in the sling! But yes, going anywhere is a massive ordeal!

FFS my DH is obsessed with sugar after watching this mornings breakfast TV. He's WFH today and keeps reading the packet on everything. I wish he'd go to the office and leave me to my chocolate!

deathb4decaf · 17/12/2015 13:49

She's 5.5 months. I am hoping it's all to do with the 4/5 month sleep regression thing and her not being able to self soothe yet. Maybe it'll all settle down after 6 months??!!
Yeah I try to time going out with her being happy but it's quite a short window before she gets all overstimulated and tired again! I'm still sat in her room while she sleeps on me, it's been two hours now.
I would love some chocolate!

LittlePixieMa · 17/12/2015 17:35

Oh no, poor Baby Db4d, is she any better today?

Yep going out has to be well planned!! I used to get everywhere an hour before so I could was the streets and get DS to sleep, so there'd be a bit of peace!! I clock watch so I can catch him when tired, put him in the sling and bop around to get him to sleep. I look like a maniac!!

I've become good at pre empting every bloody thing, thing minimise the chance of melt down.

DS is 6.5 months, and he's now much better when we go out. I can put him in a high chair for about 15 mins with an Ella's pouch so suck on, keeps him entertained for a bit. Now he's crawling he wants to be going everywhere, so going out for a meal is hard as I'm walking around with him, sitting still for too long is a no no. So mostly I eat with one hand, while standing and
A. Bopping him in the sling to sleep
B. Chasing him around

Weekend - sat I'm teaching yoga. Sunday I want to find a Santas grotto, within 15 mins drive to avoid meltdown

OP posts:
EssiesInvisibleLlama · 17/12/2015 17:52

He actually made me buy fresh soup at the supermarket this afternoon so he could compare its sugar content to the tinned stuff he ate for lunch! Snore.

Yeah we have a v short window of happy baby too before he needs to kip again. He spends most of his time out of the house in the sling cos I know when it all gets too much he'll just bury his face and go to sleep. Sadly getting him to sleep in the house is not to easy!!!

deathb4decaf · 17/12/2015 18:51

I really need to get a sling I can use don't I.... My back is not going to take much more! I'm wondering how well she'll take to it though. She seems to want to get crawling asap!

How long are you hoping to bf for? I initially said 6 months, but it looks like we'll be carrying on! Did you wean at 6 months pixie?
I'm considering cutting out dairy to see if that helps! Anyone done this?

DD felt a lot better after her two hour nap! It didn't last too long though, she wouldn't nap later on and was very grumbly. Wasn't feeding well today. I wonder what tonight will bring!

LittlePixieMa · 17/12/2015 18:52

Llama - lol, I have no words! He better not drink alcohol or eat dessert over Xmas!!

OP posts:
EssiesInvisibleLlama · 17/12/2015 20:04

We've just finished tea and he asked me what's for pudding. Ha! I suspect his sugar obsession will be short lived he likes eating junk too much.

Yeah I said 6 months for bfing but now realise what a bloody useful tool it is so suspect I will go longer. My mum bfed me til 17mo because apparently there was no other way to get me to sleep! Guess I'm getting payback now!

LittlePixieMa · 17/12/2015 22:02

Have a good and restful night everyone xx

OP posts:
EssiesInvisibleLlama · 18/12/2015 09:53

How was everyones night? Not too bad here. Think I fed him 4 times but he went back to sleep after each feed. We are also a calpol free zone now. Yeah!

deathb4decaf · 18/12/2015 10:35

Put dd to bed at 6.30 then was up at 8,2,4,5. Then Dp got up with her. I should do a later bed time but she is always so tired in the evening. Also I think she'd still wake at 5.
She didn't sleep on me last night so I feel a bit more rested. Also I had a 'lie in' til 7am! She started sitting up quite well this morning! She's out with dp for a walk/hopefully nap now. How long did your ds have his cold llama?

LittlePixieMa · 18/12/2015 14:44

Llama - yay!! So glad little llama is all well!!

Db4d - little pixie has a nap at 6.30 for 1/2 hr, then I let him play a bit and then bed. I can't get him to stay asleep with an early bedtime. So he tends to go to bed at 8.30 or 9pm.

We had another good night, fed twice. What's going on?! I've had month of 5+ wakings, may long this last!!! Sorry to gloat!!

OP posts:
deathb4decaf · 18/12/2015 18:03

It's not gloating it's giving the rest of us hope! I do need to make bedtime later but that'd mean she'd need another nap! I don't know if I have it in me to settle her that many times. That's where the sling comes in useful I guess!

EssiesInvisibleLlama · 18/12/2015 18:25

That's fab pixie I hope you have another night like that. It definitely gives me hope!

db4d he started the cold on Monday and other than being a bit snotty is pretty much over it today. Tuesday night was the worst bit I was a bit worried then cos he just seemed to be getting worse by the hour.

LittlePixieMa · 18/12/2015 18:26

If only they'd take one long nap in the cot....... Put them down drowsy but awake...........

OP posts:
EssiesInvisibleLlama · 18/12/2015 19:52

Bedtime is always a bit sketchy here. He goes to bed anywhere between 7-9pm. Depends how he's slept in the day. Today he crashed out at 7pm on me. When he wakes up for a feed in a couple of hours I'll take him to bed with me. Don't know when the evenings will get a bit more predictable?!
