Thank you MN Techs - bulk bold/italics are great!

I did check first to see whether anyone else had posted about this or not but it seems not, so -

THank you so much for allowing the bulk bolding and bulk italicising of words with just the use of the */^ at either end of the section, not around every word. It is FANTASTIC not to have to do every word, so much easier!

Now can you do it for the 'striking out' as well please?

But still, thanks for the others, that's brilliant.

Yay for this, I didn't know.

toccatanfudge · 04/07/2010 13:54

there was a thread the other day about it (sorry still a novelty factor)

I agree we need the strike out as well

thumbwitch · 04/07/2010 14:00

Oh it must have been elsewhere than Site Stuff then cos I did look, honest!

Great though, innit!

LackaDAISYcal · 04/07/2010 14:07

Durr, I did a for sale thread yesterday and highlighted every word!

Will know next time!!

RubberDuck · 04/07/2010 14:11

just trying this out to see if it works

MmeLindt · 04/07/2010 14:17

I did notice a thread with a whole sentence in bold yesterday as was very impressed. I could never manage that without forgetting one of the *

thumbwitch · 04/07/2010 14:23

That's what put me onto it, MmeL - one poster, who I know uses * as I would use around phrases, had an entire sentence in bold for no apparent reason. So I tried it out and lo!It worked like a charm!*

Sorry, still playing with it

OP posts:
thumbwitch · 04/07/2010 14:24

Except it went a bit wrong there because I wasn't paying attention to where my *s were - whoops!

MmeLindt · 04/07/2010 14:28

And I have just noticed that € works now too.

So I don't have funny ?300 instead of € signs.

Well done, Tech.

thumbwitch · 04/07/2010 14:31

Where is the euro sign, MmeL? or is it on special keyboards (cos I don't have it)

OP posts:
MmeLindt · 04/07/2010 14:35

It is above the E (I have to do Alt Gr to get it on my keyboard, but it is a German one)

SagacityNell · 04/07/2010 14:35

testing testing one two three

Grin
thumbwitch · 04/07/2010 14:41

My laptop keyboard doesn't even have an Alt Gr key - although I just tried the RH Alt key instead of the LH one, and discovered I can get é without using the Ctrl key as well now! No euro facility on this keyboard, never mind. I haven't got a backslash either.

Try that with the no. 4 [[]en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:KB_United_Kingdom.svg look here]

MmeLindt · 04/07/2010 14:55

oops

thumbwitch · 04/07/2010 14:59

€
Ooh! It worked! Thanks MmeL!!

The bold thing is causing a few problems on the education threads though, where people are trying to talk about A* grades!

Olihan · 04/07/2010 22:52

How do you do it then?

Olihan · 04/07/2010 22:54

ooh, very clever Tech, not even any complicated sequences to remember.

You deserve a shiny gold 'I did very well' sticker.

thumbwitch · 04/07/2010 22:56

oh no, don't say that, RustyBear - we don't want MN to take it away again!

I suppose it is too complex to have the settings so that it works on spaces that are between words but not on spaces that precede words - it's an all or none scenario.

how does it work?
