Hello, fashionistas.

Stella McCartney and Gap would like to invite 50 Mumsnetters (with or without their children) to attend the Stella McCartney for Gap launch on Monday 2nd November between 5.30pm and 7pm at the Gap Brompton Road store, Knightsbridge, London.

Here's what the guys at Gap say: "As you may know, Gap will be debuting the first ever collection of Stella McCartney for GapKids and babyGap. Launching in stores on 3rd November 2009, Stella McCartney has created a collection for boys and girls from 0-6 months to 12 years. The collection features her signature touches ? a soft colour palette, familiar silhouettes and her unique mix of unexpected pieces, creating looks that stay true to Stella?s unique vision, reinterpreted with GapKids? playful, child-like charm, keeping fun and practicality at the forefront of the design intent."

Stella herself has specifically suggested that Mumsnet members are invited to the preview event, as she is a fan of the site!

Guests will enjoy a tea party and children will be able to take part in a range of craft activities incorporating motifs from the campaign and will also receive a branded gift bag and balloon at the end of the event.

There is disabled access to the store. Baby changing facilities will be available.

If you'd like to come, please fill in this form.

Places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. So, if you haven't heard by 1 November, we're sorry but you haven't been selected.

I didn't get a mini mushroom burger! Am quite jealous, sounds delicious.

AnnieOneForTennis · 03/11/2009 11:08

Hello ladies. I lurked in there for a while, sipping the bubbly, and half considering getting one or two of the normal Gap tops, just so I could get a bag... but I didn't. Saw lots of you who I thought must be MNers [shy]. The Stella coats were lovely, but a tad expensive for kid's clothes (but they are designer I guess) I left about 5.45, I guess Stella didn't turn up then? The impression was given that she would be there, but the staff I asked didn't know anything about it.
And I didn't get a goody bag as I didn't have the kids with me. I did try though!
You all looked very glam I must say, didn't see anyone looking frazzled! And looks like the kiddies had fun -should have taken mine really. The food looked nice.
Loads of people were piling up the clothes to buy!! (to sell on eBay?!?).
And, yes, the two main pieces, pirate coat and tutu - nowhere to be seen.

But it was still fun. I liked it. I'd go again!

Her stuff was featured on This Morning...I have to say I thought the military jacket was ridiculous. When would a child ever wear that?

Megglevache · 03/11/2009 12:36

When they are pretending to be Adam Ant you donut.

Katisha · 03/11/2009 12:40

She wasn't there??

That's a bit off given all the guff about being such a MN fan...

AtleastbeCYBILtoeachother · 03/11/2009 12:51

lol meggle. I was thinking more an oompah loompah version of paul Mcartney Sergeant Pepper

ImSoNotTelling · 03/11/2009 13:06

Horton I was way too shy to start striking up conversations! I was next to one of the craft tables at the back, with a pushchair with a baby in it, a blonde 2yo DD who is very big for her age and a person who could only be a granny I think DD was at the same table as posie parker but I was too shy to say hello!

Horton · 03/11/2009 14:35

Oh, I think I saw you. In fact, I think my DD was sitting next to yours for quite a while. Mine is a three year old who is very small for her age and has rather wispy slightly curly mousy blonde hair. She was wearing a black top and a purple/red/orange skirt. I was wearing jeans and a ratty old navy top and was Too Hot so probably quite shiny.

ImSoNotTelling · 03/11/2009 14:58

Oh Horton I remember your DD - she is so cute! Little curly hair and really dainty. Yes definitely remember her Who was her mum though (racks brains). Someone cooed at my baby and they had straight dark hair tied back and were slim was that you?

Horton · 03/11/2009 15:03

That was me! Your baby was very adorably trying to talk to me!

Flamebat · 03/11/2009 15:04

saw This Morning....£70 for a kids jumper???

AtleastbeCYBILtoeachother · 03/11/2009 15:06

Yes but according to fasion expert Jason 'The trouser bulge' whatisface it's an 'investment piece'

ImSoNotTelling · 03/11/2009 15:12

Ooh hello [waves] yes she was chatting away wasn't she I should have bitten the bullet and asked you if you were a MNer but I couldn't quite bring myself to do it

monkeysavingexpertdotcom · 03/11/2009 16:47

Yoohoo DeepDarkWood!

Who was the lovely mumsnetter who's balloon I looked after? Didn't get your name. I was the woman sat on the floor drinking fizz behing a shelf while my nine-year old flounced around the craft area.
I definitely think the impression was given that Stella would be there and that it would be more of an event IYSWIM - in fact unless I'm going bonkers I think the title of this thread originally said "Fancy Schmoozing with Stella....." until yesterday. Not that I'd have done anything other than run and hide if I'd seen anyone famous...
The Portobello mushroom burgers were lovely, though. Anyone else get winked at a lot by the men serving drinks, or were they trying to tell me I had spinach on my teeth?

Horton · 03/11/2009 16:49

I am v cross with myself that I didn't say hello, now, ImSoNotTelling. I just didn't want to sound loony.

AnnieOneForTennis · 03/11/2009 16:58

Yes, all the furtive looks at all the ladies with children (or indeed without!). We all wanted to say 'Are you from MN' but would have sounded loony!!! Who was it said we should have a secret handshake? Well maybe not a handshake, but a twitch or something!?

The nice men serving drinks didn't wink at me, monkey!!?

HelenMumsnet · 03/11/2009 16:59

Hello everyone. Glad to hear you all had a great time.

Just so's you know: Stella herself was never going to be at the launch - apparently, she's in New York. Sorry if our OP gave the impression that she was going to be there.

But it was Stella's idea to invite Mumsnetters along.

And lol at deepdarkwood on the Tube

AnnieOneForTennis · 03/11/2009 17:01

Thank you Helen, and Mumsnet.
Reading back, it doesn't actually say that she would be there... doh...

ImSoNotTelling · 03/11/2009 17:13

Yes thank you MN DD1 thought it was the most wonderful thing ever, and I really enjoyed doing something "proper" for the first time now that DD2 is 4mo and not quite so glued to me any more it was great. Especially the mini-cupcakes

Horton never mind, I thought you seemed very nice, and not at all shiny Did you think it was posieparker and her children at our table too? Right number of kids, right height DH etc...

posieparker · 03/11/2009 18:20

I was at the table with all of my children....I was the tubby one with crazy hair, too much make up trying to catch the welsh rarebit!! We were at the back on the right, if you were standing on the stairs.

Ewe · 03/11/2009 18:45

I popped in briefly (had very sore feet after being in a standing room only meeting all afternoon!) and spent too much money.

Looked great fun for the children though and my DD is currently enjoying herself chasing a blow up flamingo around the room!

posieparker · 03/11/2009 19:13

I met a lovely MNer who had me on her radar!!! elbow elbow, nudge nudge!!!

The food was piggin' gorgeous....

[must stop feeding dc4, one today, so I can lose weight)

ImSoNotTelling · 03/11/2009 19:19

You had red lipstick on posie?

I was sure it was you - my DD1 was the one with a dodgy mum-cut blonde bob sitting at the table and I was the one with blonde hair occasionally shoving cakes at her.

I wish I had had the courage to say hello!

Who was the MNer you were talking to?

Flamebat · 03/11/2009 19:25

Cybil - Schofield was great with the whole "investment piece" thing

posieparker · 03/11/2009 19:40

, I don't know if I'm allowed to say...she took ages to reveal.

You should have said Hello.
