Hello, fashionistas.

Stella McCartney and Gap would like to invite 50 Mumsnetters (with or without their children) to attend the Stella McCartney for Gap launch on Monday 2nd November between 5.30pm and 7pm at the Gap Brompton Road store, Knightsbridge, London.

Here's what the guys at Gap say: "As you may know, Gap will be debuting the first ever collection of Stella McCartney for GapKids and babyGap. Launching in stores on 3rd November 2009, Stella McCartney has created a collection for boys and girls from 0-6 months to 12 years. The collection features her signature touches ? a soft colour palette, familiar silhouettes and her unique mix of unexpected pieces, creating looks that stay true to Stella?s unique vision, reinterpreted with GapKids? playful, child-like charm, keeping fun and practicality at the forefront of the design intent."

Stella herself has specifically suggested that Mumsnet members are invited to the preview event, as she is a fan of the site!

Guests will enjoy a tea party and children will be able to take part in a range of craft activities incorporating motifs from the campaign and will also receive a branded gift bag and balloon at the end of the event.

There is disabled access to the store. Baby changing facilities will be available.

If you'd like to come, please fill in this form.

Places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. So, if you haven't heard by 1 November, we're sorry but you haven't been selected.

I went, my ds had a fantastic time and wouldn't stop talking about it on the way home.

The staff were wonderful, food was fab, drinks yum, craft tables were a big hit-

My ds was the slightly camp looking one with all the badges on his jacket trying to find something nice for his sister to wear. Like a mini Gok really.

I did all the shopping good and early and then spent all the time making stuff whilst furtively checking out other possible mumsnet folk. I got talking to one lady who is a MN lady and she her dh and kids were lovely.

It was worth going to meet someone so lovely. Licky-licky bum lick.

Stella wasn't there.

NormaStanleyFletcher · 02/11/2009 21:59

Doodley - god I so wanted to do that too

I almost did a sparticus

Stand up and say "I am normastanleyfletcher"

ImSoNotTelling · 02/11/2009 22:00

I didn't even look at the clothes was busy with baby etc. Was also pleased to note I wasn;t the only person who'd brought their mum

Megglevache · 02/11/2009 22:01

I could not believe the jaclkets and tutus weren't there- also there was a problem with the smaller sizing (the staff told me) a hiccup with the manufacturing so there was barely any girl's small stuff indeedy!

AtleastbeCYBILtoeachother · 02/11/2009 22:10

I thought you'd have all gone clubbing afterwards

Megglevache · 02/11/2009 22:11

Well I did get drunk on the Prosecco and tried to dance on the kiddies tables...was not a pretty sight.

It was rather tame

deepdarkwood · 02/11/2009 22:13

Ds & dd really enjoyed it too - & were utterly charmed by their fairground tat goody bags - they've both taken their inflatables to bed...

I thought the clothes were OK - but agree that it was disapointing that the two real winners (military jacket & tutu skirt) weren't there...

Megglevache, I think we were in front of you in the queue (my little dd was wearing a tutu and stripy tights...) - if so, your ds is utterly, utterly gorgeous - I nearly said so in the queue but decided that was too creepy

NormaStanleyFletcher · 02/11/2009 22:13

Clubbing

Not with DD in those boots

deepdarkwood · 02/11/2009 22:14

Actually, the most fun I had was when ds spotted the Stella ad on the back of the evening standard in the tube on the way home. I announced in a loud voice "Yes, darling, that was the party we just went to wasn't it

Megglevache · 02/11/2009 22:22

Oh hello Deepdarkwood. I thought I heard you say to one of the ladies there that you weren't from MN

Oh how sweet was your little dd, I loved the tutu- polishing the floor with it as mine owuld have done, my ds kept saying "we should get that skirt for my sister" You noticed he was being a bit Gok-y then.

How funny.

NormaStanleyFletcher · 02/11/2009 22:37

I did chat to SkivingViking.

She was very lovely
(her kids were unbearably cute too)

ImSoNotTelling · 02/11/2009 22:52

i think I spotted posieparker

Did have eye contact with a lot of women where we were both obviously thinking "are you? should i say something?" and smiling and walking past.

hobbgoblin · 02/11/2009 23:09

We got there late and the baby pooed on me.

Came away with goodie bags and nearly bought a Stella baby outfit in sheer desperation (only had a baby nightie in bag as 'spares' because I emptied bag before we left, dur)

Did any of you have balloons tied to your puschair?

ImSoNotTelling · 02/11/2009 23:12

My baby did an explosive one too hobbgoblin - I had to strip her down completely

We had a balloon tied to the pushchair at the end. There was a woman holding a baby near us at the craft tables - was that you?

hobbgoblin · 02/11/2009 23:18

NotTelling...ooh it could have been. I remember Champagne area, not sure about craft!!!

I had DD (9) with me and baby in sling. Baby had pink tights on and legs hanging out of sling, her lovely party (Boden ) dress was invisible.

Was that who you saw? Did I look frazzled?

ImSoNotTelling · 02/11/2009 23:21

Ooh well the person I saw was tall with long brown hair and a baby over shoulder. Maybe not you then? Not frazzled whoever it was!

I had a baby in a pushchair and blonde hair

ImSoNotTelling · 02/11/2009 23:29

Maybe it wasnt you then this person was hanging out at the glueing and sticking area..

Never mind eh I'm sure you looked lovely and not at all frazzled

hobbgoblin · 02/11/2009 23:34
Smile
SkivingViking · 03/11/2009 07:17

at Norma (we're on first name terms now see ) She was also lovely and I have grand plans for my dc's to follow in her ds's footsteps (he was great, running round and getting drinks, food etc )

She recognised my skirt and I then clung to her chatted for a while and went back to being a wallflower afterwards. Well, when my children let me (they had a blast once they had gotten over the shyness!)

Didn't see Stella either, but then we arrived quite (fashionably?) late after I cocked up had some minor issues with the map reading and transport logistics. Maybe she was only there at the beginning?

Megglevache · 03/11/2009 07:43

Skiving I was there right at the beginning and she wasn't there either. I was rather unfashionably early as I'd had enough of Harrods and turfed myself out.

SkivingViking · 03/11/2009 08:33

Ah ok!

Damn, couldn't resist telling 2 friends and my mum that I was going to this and now they'll be texting me asking what Stella is like etc and she wasn't even there at all (so can't even use the lateness excuse). Oh well!

At least the dc's got their balloons (dd very excited and was exceptionally good yesterday everytime I reminded her that she was going to a party and would get a ballon )

Horton · 03/11/2009 08:36

Gah, didn't spot anyone and am jealous of those who managed to identify a fellow MNer. I also noticed that several people had brought their mums or I might have risked trying to ID ImSoNotTelling!

We just hung out at the craft tables mainly. DD had an absolute ball and I ate a lot of food. DD really loves her flamingo, too.

Doodleydoo · 03/11/2009 09:05

Yes the flamingo is a bit of a hit for us too! I admit to making some purchases but only a couple of tops that were very much needed or that was the excuse to dh, besides they were the really dull polo necks but did justify that someone would probably buy it on ebay for twice the amount in about 5 minutes time if I didn't really like it!

We also hung out on the craft tables of the four there we were the right hand one by the food! Always by the food, muppet here forgot it was all veggie, but actually the mini mushroom burgers were quite scrummy!

LibrasBiscuitsOfFortune · 03/11/2009 09:17

Am I the only one who thinks it was a little rude of Stella Mc not to turn up considering

"Stella McCartney and Gap would like to invite"

"Stella herself has specifically suggested that Mumsnet members are invited to the preview event, as she is a fan of the site!"

She is such a fan on the site but she doesn't actually want to mingle with us, just get us to buy her clothes....

Megglevache · 03/11/2009 09:37

I agree Libra. Still it worked there were people spending sooo much money in those couple of hours.
