Because I love it as it is.

Of course ther is always room for a little improvement BUT it works very well for me as is.

Meanmum - My 'popularity' seems to be having the opposite affect than it expected! I might even be developing a shy and timid nature.

Girly · 15/05/2003 16:01

Please don't m2t! shy and retiring? you? no way

Bobbins · 15/05/2003 16:02

Mum2Toby> snap out of it lady. You have loads of friends on this site..... LOADS...and any digging is definitely affectionate. I wasn't getting at you, just taking the urine out of many of the things that wind people up on this site. I know there are some reallystupid trivial things that I turn my nose up at on here. That's my problem though really, not theirs.

OP posts:
Bozza · 15/05/2003 16:04

Mum2Toby - I don't think Scummymummy's comments were a dig at you - I think she was being tactful but honest - surely being "popular" and a "penchant for friendly chat" are positive rather than negative traits? And she said she would "fight for your right to chat and exclaim". I think your initial instinct that the punctuation marks were a joke was right.

And Bobbins was referring back to the fact that she started this thread - and presumably never expected it to take this turn. So no dig there either.

NB Not getting at you just trying to point out that I think the last few messages have been jokey rather than digs.

Mum2Toby · 15/05/2003 16:09

I don't think I could ever be shy and timid. Much as I would like to be sometimes as I seem to be getting into quite a lot of trouble here.

Anyway.... doesn't matter.

(I'm too scared to put in any exclamation marks, I just hope this message doesn't sound monotoned)

It should be quiet from tomorow until Tuesday as I will be away and won't have access to a PC. So there should be plenty of room to post on more serious issues without me spoiling it with my evil ways.

It'll be interesting to see if the chatty threads carry on since I seem to be the main instigator... hmmmm

Pancake · 15/05/2003 16:15

Mum2Toby ... just be yourself! As people have said this website is for mums to use as and how they see fit! I know I don't join in the chatty ones (only for fear of not being witty) but I enjoy reading them. Please don't change! Enjoy your long weekend away!

breeze · 15/05/2003 16:16

sigh< oh dear blantent attempt for another ego boost I think.

Mum2Toby · 15/05/2003 16:18

Cheers Pancake!
I intendt to have a fantastic weekend of lounging around and boozing. Can't wait.

Mum2Toby · 15/05/2003 16:18

Isn't it breeze. I must be a very insecure person. Actually, I wasn't until I started posting on Mumsnet! Now I'm a nervous wreck.

Mum2Toby · 15/05/2003 16:19

SH*T how did that exclamation mark sneak in there? I think I'll put a pin on that key on my keyboard.

JJ · 15/05/2003 16:23

What about a compromise? How about a YURT topic, where the pubs, comedy clubs, yurts and all that are located? A veritable Yurt Mall, if you will. That way it's all in one place, I'll be able to locate the jokes more easily and it's at the end so when I don't feel like scrolling through it I don't have to (because I'm a lazy cow, really).

I've had almost 5 hours of screaming and tantrumming toddler today. Yeah, I'm up for anything anyone throws at me.

breeze · 15/05/2003 16:24

Don't need to be, if your normal life you suround yourself with people you have lots in common with, with some people here the only thing you have in common is you are all mothers and I think that is as far as it goes. Don't let the bastards grind you down.
We still love you.

Chiccadum · 15/05/2003 16:37

Mum2Toby, you are a breath of fresh air, after a day with my two monsters driving me up the wall and a dh being mardy, it's great to come on her and have some lighthearted banter, whether it be 'Serious or Not'. Don't listen to people who don't like what you type, if they don't like it don't read it, simple as that

Keep up with the joking and daftness we all need a bit in our everyday life, I daren't tell you what myself and two other women got up to on the way back from a day out today for fear of been hunted down by the witch hunters who patrol these threads and obviously have the monopoly on conversations.

Mum2Toby · 15/05/2003 16:53

LOL Chiccadum.

Go on tell us.... perhaps I'll start a witch hunt thread!

Bobbins · 15/05/2003 16:59

OOH...I like this!!!!!!!!!!

Very funny

LOL Bobbins!

Where did you find that? If you did it yourself then I am the following:

Impressed
In awe
Amused
Taken aback by the wit
And in TOtaL aGReeMEnt with it's usefulness.

YOU WIN.

I wish I could take the credit, but no, fraid it was a cut and paste jobby.

OP posts:
Lil · 15/05/2003 17:33

So I'm a witch-hunter now amongst other less salubrious comments on this thread. Amazing. I actually originally wrote 'no offence' because I didn't mean my remark as an insult, just a (badly worded) comment for M2T to defend her love of chat.

So in support of M2T (who can adequately defend herself!) lots of users of this site seem to take the oppertunity themselves, to get a kick/jibe in because they don't agree with my view. If you reread this thread, talk about leaving a bad taste in the mouth.

I think that Lil, you need to take a CHILL, life is far to short to be bothered with what other folk are doing, is it interfering with you and yours if not, don't bloody well bother about it. Will say that most Scots folk are not known for keeping their views to themselves, me for one!

Mumsnet, is an informative pool of info and sometimes support for many mums, but, life has to have a lighterside as well, nae point in being straight laced all the time.

Anyway does the "Mums Arms" sell Whyte and MacKay? or Gin? If yes I'll be round later!!

SoupDragon · 15/05/2003 18:33

Lil, what did you expect? You singled M2T out for something she did not start! If you make comments like that, you need to be prepared to take the flak for them. Saying "no offence but..." does not make a view any less likely to offend. If you genuinely don't want to offend someone and think what you say will do so, don't say it.

lou33 · 15/05/2003 18:44

It makes me genuinely sad when people on mumsnet start arguing. Can't everyone agree to disagree? Noone likes or dislikes the same thing and I hate seeing these fall outs.

Bobbins · 15/05/2003 18:52

ahhh-I am feeling all nostagic about the "Does it always get this personal on Mumsnet thread" I'm glad I started it. Really I am!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lets have some flouncing off now please. Shall I delegate???????? ks> I think you are the woman for the job.
