You might look to see if you have more than one cookie for mumsnet and if so delete them both and start again.

They are generally in C:\Documents and Settings\yourname\Cookies\

They look like like text files and have names like yourname@mumsnet etc

FabulousBakerGirl · 07/05/2009 18:54

A job for Dh then as no idea about cookies.

Unless they have chocolate in them.

I was just about to start the same thread! Its been happening for about 3 or 4 days. Its also happening with Hotmail.
I deleted all cookies yesterday, and it hasn't made any difference.

I vaguely think there was a firefox update a few days ago (I could be completely wrong, it may have been a week ago). I wonder if it has anything to do with this.

I haven't changed any settings etc recently.

KnickKnack · 08/05/2009 20:36

and now mumsnet is logging me out if I'm AFK for an hour

HelenMumsnet · 09/05/2009 12:28

KnickKnack: are you still having this problem?

By the way, we have been releasing fixes to glitches (liking the rhyme!) over the past few weeks - and, after each release, you will find you need to log in again.

So that could explain things a bit.

FabulousBakerGirl · 09/05/2009 15:03

Still have to log in each time.

HelenMumsnet · 09/05/2009 15:18

Oh dear, FabolousBakerGirl, that must be a pain.

Did you try clearing your cookies?

FabulousBakerGirl · 09/05/2009 15:23

Not yet as no clue how to do it and DH has been busy tiling.

OP posts:
HelenMumsnet · 09/05/2009 16:00

What browser are you using? It it's Firefox I can help...

KnickKnack · 09/05/2009 16:08

Yes, its still happening
I've tried clearing cookies.

I don't think its a specific mumsnet problem, as its still happening with hotmail on firefox too.

FabulousBakerGirl · 09/05/2009 16:09

IE

OP posts:
KnickKnack · 09/05/2009 16:15

I've tried clearing cookies again. Its still not remembering me.

KnickKnack · 09/05/2009 16:17

IE:
Look under Internet Options
Click on the General tab
In the middle of the screen there is an option to "delete cookies", just click on it.
(This mightn't be 100% right as I rarely use IE)

FabulousBakerGirl · 09/05/2009 16:22

Thank you

It seems to have worked.

FAQinglovely · 09/05/2009 16:25

Been having this problem for a week or so now, on Firefox, have deleted cookies, (several times) and yet it still doesn't remember me and also logs me out after so long if I haven't posted

staryeyed · 09/05/2009 16:28

me too, and do we log in just to search threads now?

HelenMumsnet · 09/05/2009 17:52

Glad you'res sorted FabulousBakerGirl

Yes, stareyed: you do need to log in to search now.

KnickKnack and FAQ: Sorry that you're still having problems. If it's not resolved by the end of the weekend, do let us know and we'll see if Tech has any clever ideas...

Firefox has been weird today and it crashed at one point. A message came up on the monitor to say they were experiencing difficulties.
I reset my settings by bashing my forehead on the keyboard several times.....

KnickKnack · 09/05/2009 18:35

Marla, if it is, the universe is surely wrong

FAQ do you remember an update on firefox last week??

FabulousBakerGirl · 09/05/2009 19:39

DS1 closed my window and it has meant I had to log in again...

OP posts:
KnickKnack · 10/05/2009 10:13

Having been frustrated thought about it a bit more...

I don't have firefox set to remember my passwords (don't like the idea of all my passwords available to anyone on my PC at the click of a button)
So my problem is with sites like mumsnet (where its mumsnet remembering the password, not firefox), or sites like hotmail and facebook where it normally remembers my username but not password.

Parmageddon · 10/05/2009 10:16

Not having this with Mumsnet, but can't automatically log in to MSN even though I have clicked box.

FAQinglovely · 11/05/2009 17:23

Knickknack yes I remember an update..........but I haven't clicked to update yet........

HelenMumsnet · 12/05/2009 10:46

FAQ, KnickKnack: are you still having problems with this?
