Would you be interested in hosting a Mumsnet stall at The Baby Show Oct 17th-19th?

Still a hypothetical question at the moment, but we might have the chance of a small stand at The London Earl's Court Baby show this Oct 17th-19th and we wondered if any Mumsnetters would be interested in being Mumsnet ambassadors, handing out fliers, talking to baby show visitors about the site and showing them how it works on a laptop or two.

We'd need someone to coordinate the three days (although that person wouldn't necessarily need to be there for the three days) and probably three or four volunteers for each day. Ideally at least a couple of the volunteers would be able to bring a wireless adapted laptop.

If noone fancies it, that's not a problem. But we did this once before in Birmingham and the folks that took part seemed to have had a good time so we thought we'd ask.

If you're interested in principle, please post here, just so we know if it's an idea worth pursuing.

Thanks all

Would love to do Bham one.... but would there be insurance cover for laptops?
They are all too easy to pick up and walk off with....

ruddynorah · 30/09/2008 17:24

i could do manchester.

will mnhq be planning some things for it? i mean it kind of sounds a bit like free ad for mn, get some mum volunteers to bring their own equipment and plan the stall etc and organise the others.

is it the cost of the stall mnhq are picking up, then us mners do the rest?

BecauseImWorthIt · 30/09/2008 17:24

But I want to be special.

Flamesparrow · 30/09/2008 17:35

Be a bitch or a moron BIWI - makes you more memorable

themildmannneredjanitor · 30/09/2008 18:03

sorry but why exactly would anyone want to do this?

there is to be no payment, no expenses and not even any subsistence paid.

you want people to work-for free- advertising your business. oh and they would have to organise and pay for their own childcare too?

carrie-all respects and everything but you're not daft are you?

Volunteers would (presumably) get free entry to the show, though (not necessarily an inducement if you've ever been to one before, but there are normally a couple of interesting exhibitors).

themildmannneredjanitor · 30/09/2008 18:32

but port and lemon-you would be busty manning the stall surely as so unable to go looking around?

As for seeing the baby show, we'd imagine folks doing a couple of hours on the stand and then having an hour or so off and then coming back for a bit, so there should be plenty of time to explore and pick up all the goodie bags.

Flamesparrow · 30/09/2008 18:57

One of the great things about MN - things get reversed and it seems the normal scheme of things.

Must Try Harder obv

I'm not sure we're allowed to touch each other - I am still standing by the wall. StGeorge might come back....

LittleBella · 30/09/2008 21:15

Would we have to be our mumsnet personas or our RL real people ones?

JustineMumsnet · 30/09/2008 21:44

Aside from free entry to show someone internally has suggested we produce some MN badges - like blue peter ones - that only the most deserving receive to flog on ebay wear with pride. Would that swing it for anyone?

Flamesparrow · 30/09/2008 21:46

Ooh a fancy badge - could wear it to the xmas do

I'm already swung anyway

fryalot · 30/09/2008 21:47

can you arrange for mumsnet to have a stall at a show in Yorkshire?
I'd do it for a blue peter mumsnet badge
