Would you be interested in hosting a Mumsnet stall at The Baby Show Oct 17th-19th?

Still a hypothetical question at the moment, but we might have the chance of a small stand at The London Earl's Court Baby show this Oct 17th-19th and we wondered if any Mumsnetters would be interested in being Mumsnet ambassadors, handing out fliers, talking to baby show visitors about the site and showing them how it works on a laptop or two.

We'd need someone to coordinate the three days (although that person wouldn't necessarily need to be there for the three days) and probably three or four volunteers for each day. Ideally at least a couple of the volunteers would be able to bring a wireless adapted laptop.

If noone fancies it, that's not a problem. But we did this once before in Birmingham and the folks that took part seemed to have had a good time so we thought we'd ask.

If you're interested in principle, please post here, just so we know if it's an idea worth pursuing.

Thanks all

i promise i wont go into labour.

actually i cant promise that, but could be fun!

carriemumsnet · 30/09/2008 12:19

zippi - we could probably run to a Greggs sausage roll and a tube fare, but don't think we'll be putting anyone up at the Ritz. And an open crate of wine plus Mumsnetters might just get us banned from the event...now there's a headline

NB for discussion of apostrophes and their use (or not) in Greggs sausage roll see pedant's corner

When do you need commitment, Carrie?

I might be able to do some time on 17th, but can't let you know as yet, as I have a few diary issues to be resolved.

Have no small children to worry about and do have a wireless laptop!

When it comes to the Birmingham one, I'm there.
God, would love to do this (does the fact that this would be the most exciting thing going on in my life right now make me too sad?!)

Only if you think manning a stall with a grumpy pregnant woman and a shouting toddler is a good idea

Actually the only thing that would entice me to set foot in the Baby Show would be a cod/custy/expat staffed event

EffiePerine · 30/09/2008 13:18

you could do little franchises

style advice for eg

CantSleepWontSleep · 30/09/2008 13:21

Carrie - you are a lost cause. You put the apostrophe in the wrong place in Pendants' Corner!

Would love to do it, but will have a week or two old baby by then, so prob not the most feasible idea. Shame.

OhNooo · 30/09/2008 13:29

If it changes anybody's mind, there is going to be creche at the show!

funnypeculiar · 30/09/2008 13:42

Hummm, could possibly do a bit on 18th or 19th - could have no children & wireless laptop (but be warned tis a (diddy) mac and I don't understand it...)

cmotdibbler · 30/09/2008 13:43

I can't do the London one (have v v important date with a spa for my birthday) but would def do a stint at the Birmingham one

FeelingLucky · 30/09/2008 13:44

I'd be up for it as long as I could get away about 6pm to rush home and put DD to bed.
I've always been a bit curious about these Baby Shows, but have never wanted to pay - so bit of volunteering would satisfy the curiosity.

GordonTheGopher · 30/09/2008 13:46

Oh yes funnypeculiar I forgot to say I have a laptop too - and it's a mac so we can help each other out!

NorbertDentressangle · 30/09/2008 13:58

I'd do the Birmingham one if I'm free!

Flamesparrow · 30/09/2008 13:59

I'd love to as long as I can leg it at some point to visit the bambinex people?

Flamesparrow · 30/09/2008 14:00

I bet Psycho would come with me too Ooh, and can we drag on MRM too

morethanyoubargainfor · 30/09/2008 14:07

JulesJules · 30/09/2008 14:27
