Would you be interested in hosting a Mumsnet stall at The Baby Show Oct 17th-19th?

Still a hypothetical question at the moment, but we might have the chance of a small stand at The London Earl's Court Baby show this Oct 17th-19th and we wondered if any Mumsnetters would be interested in being Mumsnet ambassadors, handing out fliers, talking to baby show visitors about the site and showing them how it works on a laptop or two.

We'd need someone to coordinate the three days (although that person wouldn't necessarily need to be there for the three days) and probably three or four volunteers for each day. Ideally at least a couple of the volunteers would be able to bring a wireless adapted laptop.

If noone fancies it, that's not a problem. But we did this once before in Birmingham and the folks that took part seemed to have had a good time so we thought we'd ask.

If you're interested in principle, please post here, just so we know if it's an idea worth pursuing.

Thanks all

i may be able to do the Earls Court one

i have a laptop which is wireless

when would you need to know by?

carriemumsnet · 30/09/2008 15:22

Wow top response ... will go back and see if we can get the stand for definite (and one in Birmingham too) and will then need a team leader (or two) to coordinate all the lovely volunteers....Come on now, you know you love a clipboard and a spreadsheet.

As for seeing the baby show, we'd imagine folks doing a couple of hours on the stand and then having an hour or so off and then coming back for a bit, so there should be plenty of time to explore and pick up all the goodie bags.

Can'tSleepWon'tSleep - too excited by overwhelming response to Baby show stand to talk pedantics (or even even pendantics )...and case, crate, box or barrel... we'll drink any of 'em

Keep up the volunteering and in the words of Arnie, I'll be back

Pencil me in for Birmingham (plus Slouchy and Honor!!!!)

carriemumsnet · 30/09/2008 15:24

Ruby and BecauseImWorthIt... think enough folks seem to be interested in principle to decide to go for it, but would imagine the team leader..whoever they might be... would need to know for sure in next week or so

Blimey - does that mean that all of the rest of us have to be extra witty/supportive/non sweary over that weekend, or will there be specific threads that the volunteers are linking to so we can be mean and judgy on all the other threads

RubySlippers · 30/09/2008 15:30

I have agreement from DH already, altho he has commented that MN is like the other person in our relationship so is a teeny bit sulky

LilRedWG · 30/09/2008 15:47

You can put me down for Birmingham too!

I'm more than happy to help out in any way I can.

I used to work in marketing pre-DD and do miss these types of events.

BecauseImWorthIt · 30/09/2008 15:50

I'm really quite nice. Honestly.

I don't have a laptop, but I'd be happy to spend a few hours on the stand (Earls Court) over the weekend ideally. Could possibly do Friday, but I'd be tied to when I could get there after the school run, and then getting back to pick the little buggers angels up.

Flamesparrow · 30/09/2008 16:09
