The account was attacked by GC people because they believed the murdered woman was trans. Members on this board shared it to amplify the attacks. They didn't care about this woman - they just saw a trans person being murdered and decided it was fair game. The fact that she wasn't trans didn't matter to them - she wasn't sufficiently feminine enough for their liking. The hypocrisy is vile.

If this is true, and members of this site amped up the attacks on this woman while mods allowed it, it's seriously disgusting.

It's all going too far. You need to rethink your guidelines on this.

The 'gender critical movement' isnt a movement.

All sorts of people know that biological sex is real.

Left wing people, right wing people. Nice people, nasty people.

You cannot control what people think.

You guys really just need to get over this.

You are kidding yourself of you think this isn't now a movement.

I am gender critical, I don't need to "get over this “.

I've never been part of any 'movement'.

This is literally just collections of humans who bear witness to 'actual reality'.

Some good, some bad, most just normal people going about their lives knowing about gravity and that their toast will fall to the floor not the ceiling, the reality of biological sex and that the sun wil indeed rise in the East every morning.

Error404FucksNotFound · 15/10/2026 10:20

So one person posted something, they were told by other posters that they were out of order, their post was reported by other members and deleted by mods and from this you have decided that members of this site, with the support of the mods, launched some sort of coordinated attack on this woman?
That's what you are saying?

Slightyamusedandsilly · 15/10/2026 10:22

I agree @Lexibletheflexible.

gamerchick · 15/10/2026 10:24

INeedAnotherName · 15/10/2026 08:40

I thought ONE person posted it and the remainder of the posts condemned that ONE poster before it got deleted?

You can't blame the whole place for ONE person who may or may not have been a regular poster.

Always is one person, which for all we know could have been an activist posting shit deliberately for outrage. Like this thread.

I always find the "be kind" mantra interesting.

On a simplistic surface level what could be wrong with "being kind".

But with all such left / liberal mantras the problem is the reality of it in practice.

What it means in reality is "I want you to be kind to my views / interests whereas I really don't care about your views/ interests and if you raise your views/ interests then you are a bad person ".

For example it would "be kind" to allow a trans woman/ girl to participate in say an athletics competition" but it would be cruel and unkind to all those women/ girls who have put in hours of training and effort only to lose against a biologically stronger male.

It was "kind" of the RAF to positively discriminate in favour of 161 female and ethnic minority candidates but unkind to the at least 31 white male candidates were unlawfully delayed or pushed back in the recruitment pipeline, despite having already passed all entry requirements on merit.

So it has absolutely nothing to do with "being kind" and everything to do with "I'm right, you're wrong and I'm going to shut down your opinion as unkind and nasty".

There is a difference between kindness, fairness and using ‘be kind’ hypocritically. Not everyone advocating kindness is doing so hypocritically.

You can respect someone’s life choices and be considerate and at the same time believe that they have made a bad decision but accept it is their decision.

It doesn't need you to feel you are part of it to be a movement. It's very clearly a movement. It has organisations you can pay to subscribe to, very active PR, meetings, lawyers, the lot. All doing a really good and vital job.

RareGoalsVerge · 15/10/2026 10:31

Bit of a lack of thinking error, in quite a lot of individuals both on x.com and here.

The CountDeadWomen account just keeps a count of women killed by male violence. It would be a futile exercise if it also counted males. They made a mistake and apologised for it. Failing to mark the death of a male murder victim is not celebrating or welcoming that death. It is a tragedy when anyone dies but many thousands of male murder victims do not have their death listed on CountDeadWomen because they were male. None of those male deaths were being celebrated or approved of by not being included. If CountDeadWomen did accidentally include a male person due to misinformation that they were female then deleting the relevant post would be the right thing to do. It was a mistake that they thought this had happened, but it wasn't any kind of judgement or hatred, it was a natural consequence of the huge amount of lies that are told every day making it very difficult sometimes to know the truth. Seeking after truth is not hatred.

Its like if the Flat Earthers were getting traction on forcing everyone to declare their Flat Earth status, to report anyone saying ' The Earth is Clearly Round' and a bunch of sane people, most of which were hounded out of their jobs for saying 'No, the Earth is Round', who had nothing else to do after their sackings/doxxings/harassment etc, who decided to get together and prove without a shadow of a doubt that the Earth is indeed Round. Using whatever legal means they could to do so.

That is NOT a movement, that is a certain number of people trying to bring reality back into focus.

But what happens if by being kind and fair to one section of society results in nastiness and unfairness to another section of society.

Of course the obvious answer is to be equally kind and fair to all with no special treatment for any particular section of society. Or manners, politeness and equality as it used to be known or "egalite, fraternite, liberate".

What, you "agree" despite subsequent comments confirming that it was a single post, other "GC" posters complained and it was taken down as a result of their complaints?

That's weird

The gender critical movement is nothing like the flat earth movement. Have you completely misunderstood?

The Gender Critical Movement which does not exist would be the same as the Round Earth Movement which also does not exist. That is the comparison. They do not exist because they are just words that describe REALITY.

It seems to be you that are completely misunderstanding, another example of the utter nonsense that is trotted out to get engagement for no reason whatsoever.

BeckyAMumsnet · 15/10/2026 12:30

Hello @Lexibletheflexible thanks for posting. The post you’re referring to was made by one poster, promptly challenged by other users, reported and removed.
We can’t see a report from you about it, though that’s not to say one wasn’t submitted. Please do get in touch if you have any questions about that or you believe there's something we've missed here.

We don’t think this post, or the short-lived thread, indicates that Mumsnet users or moderators were encouraging or coordinating harassment of anyone. Where we believe this is happening, we do remove the relevant posts or threads and users are usually very quick to report it.

What do you call Sex Matters and For Women Scotland if you think that a gender critical movement doesn't exist?

Unfairness is unacceptable eg it’s reasonable rather than unkind to say transwomen are not allowed to compete against women in competitive sport

It’s kind to treat a transwoman work colleague with respect by referring to her as ‘she’ and using the name she wishes to be called.

They are creating an environment where people feel more able to speak up and counter the unreasonable demands of the trans lobby, which are not limited to toilets and changing rooms but including among other things the suppression of free speech.

I'm not sure that you understand what "a movement" means.

You don't have to feel as if you belong to it yourself for it to exist.

For the love of god.

The movement WAS the silencing of people who spoke words relating to reality.

The movement isnt the reality.
